We returned to the oro negro hotel again in June and as our previous stays here this hotel just never disappoints we had a lovely weeks break here unfortunately we did have an unlucky incident when water came through our ceiling from a guest mishap in the room above us but the head of guest accommodation at reception I think her name was Anastasia? Was wonderful she had maintainance staff up first thing and then moved us to a upgraded room really quickly could not praise the professionalism enough we always recommend this hotel to our many families and friends because it’s really great value for money on all fronts, we can’t wait to visit again in mid September with friends I would highly recommend people give this hotel consideration for there holidays as they will not be disappointed
We stayed here for a week and loved it everything was clean and the entertainment team were amazing
My family and I stayed at Catalonia Oro Negro in Tenerife for six days, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. We booked a double family room, which met our expectations comfortably. The facilities and service were very good by our standards. The air conditioning worked well, and the room service was efficient throughout our stay. My wife, son and daughter loved being able to swim after breakfast each morning. I enjoyed relaxing by the pool with a coffee or beer while catching up on work on my laptop. The overall atmosphere made the stay feel easy, enjoyable and good value for money. Overall, our stay offered excellent value for money. The experience exceeded what we expected for the price and compared especially favourably with our holiday in Portugal last year.
Three stars purely becuase of the sunbed rush. We are here now and I'm so disgusted by the petty sunbed wars that I feel the hotel could actually stop if they bothered to. We have seen it ourselves in Gran Canaria and Benaldamena where hotels put signs up informing guests that saving sunbeds is not allowed and a lifeguard goes around and removes towels if the people are not in the pool or loo. Every morning we sit, eating our breakfast and watch the mad scramble for sunbeds when they are unlocked at 9am. Today I went out at judy 9.15am to video it and I stopped counting at 50 sunbeds saved, with only two people sat on them. I took a video but I'm unable to post it here as its onky giving me the option of photos. It's disgusting. They all rush to get a sunbed, put their towel on them then disappear - they're not even using them! They go off to breakfast, or shopping or whatever they're doing safe in the knowledge that they've got a sunbed for when they choose to return, whilst others who genuinely want to use a sunbed can't because there's none left. It's not okay, especially when some of these families have children and just want to use the facilities that they've paid for and to spend the day by the pool. The hotel could totally stop this but instead turn a blind eye. If it wasn't for the terrible sunbed situation I would say that this hotel is really lovely. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The hotel is extremely clean, our room is lovely although a little small, but for the amount of time we spend in it, it is fine. We have not seen one cockroach - don't believe the bitter reviews that say it is cockraoch infested - it absolutely is not! The location is perfect. It is close to loads of bars and restaurants. It is a short walk to the beach and shops too. We had a problem with our air con when we first arrived - it kept switching off and wasn't getting cool. We reported it and went out for the day, on our return it still wasn't working so we reported it again and within a very short time a maintenance man, a lovely man called Edgardo, arrived and tried to fix it but unfortunately it still turned itself off again so we reported it again and another maintenance man came and tried to fix it but said that it could not be fixed. So frustratingly we did spend two quite sleepless nights in a hot room with only a ceiling fan. We were offered another room but it was without a sea view and with twin beds instead of the double that we had and because it was the beginning of our holiday we didn't want to spend the remainder in twin beds so we declined and by the following day the air con had been fixed. I did not notice any 'ladies of the night' working nearby and only became aware of this by reading reviews complaining about it. We did see a couple of 'gentleman's clubs' but you get them in all holiday hotspots and I personally don't feel that they affect my holiday in any way, shape, or form. I'd like to mention Stefano, from the restaurant, such a nice friendly staff member. I'd also like to mention Alexia and the others on reception who are loceky, friendly and helpful.
Unacceptable Safety Concerns and Terrible Customer Service – Do Not Stay Here
We are currently staying at Catalonia Oro Negro Tenerife on a half-board basis (checking out tomorrow, Sept 2nd) and we cannot wait to leave. Our main electrical switch Box started making loud sparking noises, sounding like it was going to catch fire or explode. Because of this issue, both the AC and the ceiling fan completely stopped working. I have gone to the reception desk over 30 times since yesterday to complain, but the staff repeatedly dismissed my safety concerns, insisting it "wouldn't catch fire" and promising electricians who never showed up. Expecting guests to sleep through a severe fire hazard with no air conditioning in peak summer heat is completely unacceptable. To make matters worse, there is a serious pest problem. We have seen cockroaches everywhere; in our rooms, in the main lobbies, inside the elevators, at the entrance to the restaurant, and inside the dining area itself. Management has shown zero urgency or care for guest safety and basic hygiene. Avoid this hotel until they make serious improvements.
