It was the perfect holiday for a family of 5, amazing
It is unique resort for the golf, beach and spa. Very beautiful complex with stunning sunset views. The suite terrace is huge, good for the party and the suite itself is big. Breakfast has many healthy options and a lot of fruits. The main swimming pool was under renovation, I can’t comment if it is good or bad, the available ones were too crowded. The beach is public with the separate sunbed for the hotel guests. Beautiful sand, probably from Africa with picturesque rocks around. Generally, no complaints, everything is good, except internet. The location is good, you don’t have the crowds of the tourist around the place but if you want to see active live, it is about 15-20 minutes drive.
We have just returned from a week’s stay at the Ritz-Carlton Abama with my wife, daughter and her boyfriend, and overall we had a fantastic holiday.
First of all, the hotel is absolutely stunning. Everywhere is immaculately clean, the grounds are beautifully maintained, and the pool areas are spotless with plenty of space to relax. The beach is also beautiful and definitely worth spending some time at. Most of the staff were excellent – friendly, welcoming and always happy to help, which really made a difference to our stay.
The only real disappointment was the cost of food and drinks. We expected the hotel to be expensive, but the prices were on another level – more like what you’d expect to pay in Dubai than Tenerife. On top of that, the restaurant menus were quite limited, so after a few days we found ourselves wanting a bit more choice.
Breakfast was very good quality, but it became quite repetitive over the course of the week. A few extra options, such as proper English bacon and even something as simple as salad cream, would have been appreciated.
Another area that could be improved is the evening entertainment. The hotel is very quiet at night, and there wasn’t much going on after dinner. If you’re looking for a bit more atmosphere, I’d definitely recommend jumping in a taxi to Playa San Juan. We discovered some fantastic restaurants there, with Mar Sala being the highlight of our trip. India Gate on the seafront was also excellent and well worth a visit.
I also played the Abama Golf Course, which was in fantastic condition and a real pleasure to play. However, just like the hotel, both the green fees and the clubhouse prices are very expensive.
Overall, we had a wonderful holiday and would happily return. The hotel itself is beautiful, the facilities are first class and the staff work incredibly hard. If the food and drink prices were a little more reasonable, the breakfast had a bit more variety and there was more entertainment in the evenings, this would easily be a 5-star review. My wife and myself have just returned from a fantastic six nights at this wonderful hotel, we stayed in a retreat room in lane seven and experienced very friendly and excellent service from check in until we checked out. As retreat guests we had drinks provided all day around the pool both alcoholic and soft drinks and coffee, a light lunch was provided by the infinity pool with something different every day. We dined at the hotel on four of the six nights that we stayed all in different restaurants and every meal excellent. When it sadly became time to leave we requested a late check out which was kindly provided without any problem. I would be very happy to recommend this hotel to anyone with full confidence. My wife and myself are fortunate enough to stay in many wonderful hotels around the world but without any doubt this hotel is one of the best we have stayed at and are already looking at dates for next year and will definitely be returning. Thank you to everyone at the Ritz carlton for a wonderful stay.
Faultless! Exceeded all my expectations. Great location, gorgeous beach. Staff very attentive and so polite and caring. I couldn't recommend more for a beautiful spotlessly clean and fabulous relaxing holiday. Thank you!
