Hotel is basic but has everything you need. Beds are comfortable enough and staff are smiley and friendly. Maids clean the rooms often through the week. However there was a very, very strong smell of cannabis as one of the neighbours was smoking it constantly to the point it was difficult to get to sleep and you were woken up in the morning due to the smell. I reported this to reception who told me cannabis isn’t permitted and said they would have a word with the guests. This changed nothing, it’s currently 3am and I’ve been woken up yet again by the smell being so strong it’s as though it’s being smoked in my apartment. The pool bar also sells raw cigarette papers, so in my opinion that’s basically telling guests they’re allowed to smoke here. I’ll never visit here again purely for the reason of the cannabis. I live in the UK so I’m not new to the smell but WOW! This is horrendous and I’ve never smelt it so strong before!

When I first arrived the hotel seemed decent enough. The rooms were basic but clean, the man on reception was very empathetic towards the fact our luggage had been lost and he even tried to ring the airport for me as I couldn’t speak Spanish and the airport were trying to speak Spanish to me. However, the reception staff the day after, refused to help me and told me there was nothing they could do, when all I was asking was for him to translate what the airport was saying. The rooms don’t have air con and the wifi doesn’t reach beyond the pool areas (however we knew this before booking, just worth keeping in mind). Some of the plug sockets aren’t fully stuck to the walls and our towels and bedding weren’t changed for the whole week, when I asked reception if I could have a clean sheet I was told it’s not usually done as the cleaners change the bed linen every 4 days, however, day 4 for us was on a Thursday and housekeeping doesn’t come on a Thursday. I was told 4 times to be “careful” so I didn’t need another new sheet, despite me only needing a new sheet as it had been slept in for 5 nights straight and I felt unclean. The maids were friendly and smiley and changed my towels when I asked them to, but I did have to ask them or they wouldn’t have done it. There were adults being intimate in the main pool where children were easily able to see. One lady had her hand up her partners swimming shorts, I didn’t stick around long enough to find out what she was doing but I’m sure your common sense will help you fill in the blanks. On day 4 there were new guests in the room below us, they were smoking cannabis through the day, every day and all through the night. On one night, I was awake between 3am and 5am being sick in the bathroom from the smell (I’m very sensitive to smells, especially cannabis). I reported this to reception and was told they would have a word with the guests. This seemed to “work” for a day as they would go further down the hotel path to smoke, rather than on their balcony. By the end of the day, they were back smoking on their balcony. On our last night, another family had checked into a room across from my room and at 1:30am there was doors slamming, shouting, screaming, furniture being thrown and a man hitting his partner. I ran to reception to report this and he just strolled to the apartment as though it happens all the time, threatened to call the police if it carried on and then left them to it. Baring in mind this was so bad that most people came out of their apartments to see what was going on.

If you don’t want to witness public indecency, domestic violence and be around the constant smell of cannabis (which I’m sure you don’t) then I’d stay away from this hotel entirely. Which is such a shame because it’s close to local shops, a local bakery, and nice views (there’s a long walk up a hill to get to the hotel but again, we knew this before we booked the hotel and it wasn’t an issue for us)

Location was fine with us, it was our 3rd visit so knew the area very well, the cleaners did an outstanding job our towels was changed every 2 days and the sheets every 4 days our apartment was extremely clean and it’s location was just what we asked for, the money we paid was good value then comes the negative points, the smell of cannabis is horrendous we had people passing Coke & Kettamin around the pool and not forget the personal bars they set up around the pool during the day some gangs of people because that’s wot they was not only had a beer or two but no, every bottle of spirt you can think of then we had the music, the bar had there’s on from 9am which was ok but on constant repeat then the gangs and there was at least 3 spread around the pool thought it would be a good idea to blast out the music from speakers, all different and all competing with each other the poor life guard was having to tell them to turn it off which they did for 10 mins until management came out then there was a little relief for a while until the bad language started and carried on even after the pool had closed and they often stayed out until 2/3 in a morning shouting, swearing jumping in the pool and lucky for us some had a fight and they was escorted from the premises by the police, our 1st week was brilliant the 2nd was horrible, it’s such a shame because the hotel is in a out of way place and we spoke to other travellers who also had been going for a few years and they have also said they would not be returning if the same clientele return Nxt year my advice to the staff is to run for the hills especially the cleaners of wot they had to clean up. Shame on the management of the Neptuno!!
