Terrible

Been to los Olivos 2 times this year March and June...AVOID AT ALL COST!! Was tricked into looking around after being approached by someone with a scratch card ( more fool us) we foolishly believed what they were offering. Buy 2 holidays get 2 free holidays in los Olivos. So went in march for our 1st holiday which we paid for. Room had roof terrace which was lovely BUT needed updating and cleaning. Kitchen work surface was crawling with little bugs constantly no matter how we tried to get rid of them. TV had no English channels what so ever ( we were told had English channels). Sofa bed in lounge dirty falling to bit and bugs crawling out of it. Reported these ,to which we did have a reply but we're all unsolved.! Went back again in June as was part of the deal. Yes the room was cleaner and slightly larger with rooftop but again sofa dirty , contents grubby ,cleaner came when they could be bothered. Never changed bed and had to ask for clean bedding, towels n toilet roll. Loose change was taken from the room. ( Not much just few euros but still stealing). As the deal was with sand sea resort we had to go for meeting with manager of hotel ( full a rubbish phill) that's putting it nicely ,who was trying to sell us another 5 year unlimited holidays for £8,000 ( which we flattely refused) only to be told the 2 remaining weeks were gifted not free but if we took the £8,000 deal they would give us the 5 year unlimited holiday for £3,800 as they would deduct the 'free' holiday price! Was complete and utter rubbish. He babbled nonsense and as soon as we refused he made excuses to leave when we questioned things. We have received voucher for our free/gifted 2 week but it's not as straight forward as made out as having to go through another company called 7Across. We stayed b&b for our first week which was nice and basic. Hotel is great location. Views from roof top terrace fantastic but too hot to sit up there as no umbrellas. The place itself is ok but not even worth the price of a budget holiday. Even if hadn't had bad experience regarding being taken for a mug/fool for the deal I would not really recommend los Olivos as a place to holiday. DONT BE TAKEN IN BY SCRATCH CARD SCAM , THERE IS ALWAYS A CATCH. We have learnt by our silly gullible mistake.

Great Location. Awful Hotel !

The only positive thing I can say about this hotel is that the beds were comfortable. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end.

My best friend and I arrived last week for a four-night stay and were immediately disappointed by the welcome. The woman on reception simply slammed a map on the desk, drew a line showing us where to go, and sent us on our way. No welcome, no smile, no "enjoy your holiday". We were left to drag our suitcases up a steep flight of stairs with no offer of assistance.

When we finally reached our self-catering apartment, things only got worse. We were staying on a bed-and-breakfast basis, so we weren't expecting luxury, but we did expect basic standards. Instead, we found no kettle, dirty floors, soiled towels, ants crawling across the balcony and up the walls, cigarette-burnt plastic furniture, and a filthy, rusting clothes rack that had clearly seen better days. My heart honestly sank.

Trying to stay positive, we showered, found a late-night shop for supplies, and settled in with cold drinks, hoping things would improve. They didn't.

The air conditioning was completely non-functional, which was unbearable during a heatwave with temperatures exceeding 30°C. The following morning, I spoke to reception and asked either for the air conditioning to be repaired or for a room change. The response was dismissive at best. We were told the hotel was fully booked, so moving rooms wasn't possible, and despite repeated assurances that the issue would be addressed, nothing was ever done.

On the first evening, we were promised a portable air-conditioning unit. It never arrived. We asked about it every single day of our stay and were met with excuse after excuse, yet nothing changed.

Housekeeping was equally disappointing. After discovering our feet were turning black from the dirty floors, we requested that the room be properly cleaned and that fresh towels be provided. The room was "cleaned" only once during our stay, and even then the standards were poor. On Saturday evening, we returned to find we had no towels at all. I called reception and explained that we wanted to shower immediately. I was told someone would "do their best". Ten minutes later, two fellow hotel guests arrived at our door carrying our towels because reception had apparently asked them to drop them off on their way to their own room. Even they seemed baffled by the situation.

This hotel is clearly understaffed, but what was even more frustrating was the complete lack of care shown by management and staff. There was an overwhelming sense that guest concerns simply weren't a priority. On our final day, we met another guest who said they had been begging for clean towels for two days.

We didn't even risk trying the breakfast after reading numerous reviews about the food, which speaks volumes in itself.

The biggest disappointment is that this hotel has so much potential. The location is fantastic, right next to the promenade in Costa Adeje, and many rooms feature rooftop solariums with sunbeds. It could be a wonderful place to stay. Instead, it suffers from poor maintenance, inadequate housekeeping, indifferent customer service, and a complete lack of attention to detail.

In summary: excellent location, dreadful experience. This hotel falls far short of even the most basic expectations, and I would not recommend it to anyone. And don't even get me started on the so-called "courtesy shower room".

Absolutely awful experience – do not stay here

I genuinely do not know how this hotel has the ratings it does. Our stay at Los Olivos was one of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had, and from the moment we arrived it was clear that the hotel was in a seriously poor condition.

We arrived, went to our room and immediately noticed countless holes in the walls, mould around the light fittings, mould on the walls, mould around the shower windows and generally run-down, poorly maintained surroundings. This was not a small issue here or there — the room looked like it had been neglected for a long time.

To make matters worse, the door to our room would not lock because the battery had apparently run out. How a hotel can allocate a room to guests for a week without checking that the door actually locks is beyond me. Feeling unable to properly secure your hotel room is completely unacceptable.

Then the air conditioning started leaking, causing a substantial amount of water to flood across the floor and leaving dirt marks everywhere. When we reported this to the night shift member of reception, his response was: “What do you want me to do about it?”

That attitude sums up the customer service we received throughout the entire stay.

We spent the first night going back and forth with reception, trying to get somebody to actually take responsibility for the situation, only to be made to feel like we were inconveniencing them. On the morning of the second day, we were back at reception once again arguing with staff, who showed very little interest in resolving the problems. We were repeatedly spoken over and told, in effect, that we simply had to deal with the situation.

Eventually, we asked to speak to a manager. We were told the manager would be there at 12pm. We returned at 12pm expecting to finally speak to somebody in charge, only to be introduced to someone who told us it was their first day on the job. We still never actually got to speak to a manager.

We were eventually given two alternative rooms. However, one of these rooms didn't even have air conditioning. When we questioned this, we were told to blame the agency and that the hotel took no responsibility for the rooms we had originally been given or the lack of air conditioning. We were even told that they didn't have to provide air conditioning.

And as if that wasn't enough, one of the replacement rooms had a horrible sewage smell coming from the taps. At this point, after the way we had already been treated by reception, we didn't even bother reporting it because we had absolutely no confidence that anybody would actually care or do anything about it.

Eventually, we were given portable air conditioning units. They were average at best, but obviously better than having nothing.

The lack of basic care continued throughout the entire week. Our room was supposedly cleaned only once during the whole stay, and calling it “cleaned” is honestly an overstatement. The beds were made, but that was about the extent of it.

We received only one change of towels for the entire week, and even then we weren't given the normal set of 2 bath towels, 2 hand towels and 1 foot towel. We were given just 2 bath towels. We then had to repeatedly go down to reception ourselves just to ask for additional towels.

This is another example of the overall level of care provided to guests: you are left to chase the staff for basic things that should simply be taken care of as part of staying at a hotel.

The attitude wasn't limited to reception either. Even something as simple as trying to order an all-inclusive drink or asking staff what drinks were actually available was met with sighs, annoyance and an overall “can't be bothered” attitude. Rather than feeling welcomed as paying guests, we constantly felt as though we were inconveniencing the staff simply by asking for something.

There was no friendliness, no willingness to help and seemingly no interest in providing even the most basic level of customer service.

What is perhaps most disappointing is that at no point during the entire week did anybody properly apologise to us, offer any compensation, or even acknowledge how unacceptable the situation was. Instead, we were made to feel like we were the problem for complaining about problems that should never have existed in the first place.

The attitude from certain members of staff was particularly disgraceful. One member of staff named George was, in our experience, exceptionally rude and dismissive throughout our stay. We were given dirty looks for the remainder of the holiday, which made an already terrible experience even more uncomfortable.

And unfortunately, the problems didn't stop with the accommodation or staff.

The food was barely edible and was extremely overcooked, the soft drinks were flat, and the alcoholic drinks provided were genuinely unpleasant.

If you're booking this hotel because you expect an all-inclusive experience, there is another important thing you should know: the all-inclusive facilities aren't even all located at the hotel you're staying in. You have to go through a gate to another hotel to use certain facilities, while the pool bar at Los Olivos will still charge you.

So, to summarise:

  • Mould throughout the room
  • Holes and damage to the walls
  • Extremely run-down accommodation
  • Room door initially unable to lock
  • Air conditioning leaking and flooding the room
  • Dirt left across the floor after the leak
  • Replacement room with a horrible sewage smell from the taps
  • Replacement room without functioning air conditioning
  • Rooms supposedly cleaned only once during the entire week
  • Cleaning consisted essentially of making the beds
  • Only one towel change during the entire stay
  • Even then, only 2 bath towels were provided
  • Having to repeatedly visit reception just to get basic towels
  • Extremely poor and dismissive customer service
  • Staff sighing and showing annoyance when simply ordering drinks
  • An overall “can't be bothered” attitude from staff
  • Being repeatedly told to essentially “deal with it”
  • No proper manager available when requested
  • Blaming the agency rather than taking responsibility
  • Poor food
  • Flat soft drinks
  • Disgusting alcoholic drinks
  • Misleading/poorly explained all-inclusive arrangements
  • Not a single proper apology or offer of compensation

We went on holiday as a couple expecting a relaxing week away. Instead, we spent a significant portion of the first couple of days arguing with reception simply to get basic accommodation standards that should have been provided from the moment we arrived.

The worst part wasn't even the fact that things went wrong — things can go wrong in any hotel. It was the complete lack of urgency, accountability, professionalism and basic human courtesy when we reported those problems.

A broken air conditioner can be fixed. A leaking room can be moved. Towels can be replaced. But when the staff repeatedly make you feel like you're a nuisance for asking them to resolve basic problems, that's a completely different issue.

We paid to come on holiday and relax, not to spend our time chasing hotel staff for basic necessities, arguing with reception and being treated as though we were an inconvenience.

I don't normally leave reviews like this, but after the experience we had, I genuinely cannot recommend this hotel.

Absolutely not somewhere I would stay again, and certainly not somewhere I would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday. If you're considering booking Los Olivos, I would seriously look elsewhere.

Great holiday deplorable hotel.

Fantastic location, hotel not.. no change of towels room was swept once for whole stay. Asked several times for clean towels.. we booked all inclusive.. omg. Yes we could have food and drinks from the al fresco restaurant.. that was all. We had to upgrade €10 per person per day to use the pool bar facilities. No soft drinks as the machine was broke. So you had a choice of fresh orange ( disgusting) or local beer. Again ( disgusting) . This was advertised as an adults only hotel. There was more kids there than a primary school. On our last night a couple who had arrived tried entering our room stating they had our room number.. reception staff response was “ it’s no problem” yes it really was a problem. Never again will I stay here or recommend either.
