Hovima Costa Adeje

We have just returned from a two-week stay and have had an amazing time! This was our fourth visit, and once again, the hotel did not disappoint.

This time, we decided to book the Excellence Suite, and it was everything we expected and more. The suite was lovely and spacious, with a huge balcony and absolutely stunning views.

The food was always good, with plenty of choice, and having the à la carte restaurant as an alternative to the main buffet was a great option.

However, what really makes this hotel special is the staff. Ainara, the Guest Relations Manager, is one of the most helpful and accommodating people you could wish to meet. Nothing is ever too much trouble for her, and she always goes above and beyond to make sure you have the best possible stay.

All the waiters and bar staff are so friendly, and it is lovely how they remember you from previous visits. Ariel, the lifeguard, who has been there for as long as we can remember, is always on hand to help with sunbeds and towels and can never do enough for you.

The animation team deserves a special mention, too. They do an outstanding job of keeping everyone entertained throughout the day with games and activities, as well as putting on fantastic evening entertainment. Every member of the team works so hard to make sure everyone has a great time. A special mention must go to Patri, who always made the time and effort to come and find us for a chat and a game of dominoes. These little personal touches really do make a difference!

We have only been home for a day, and we have already booked to return next year! We cannot wait to see all the familiar faces among the staff again, as well as the many friends we have made over the years who return year after year.

This hotel really does feel like a home away from home, and it is the wonderful staff and the friendships we have built that make it so special. We are already counting down the days until our next visit!

Gone downhill — and fast!

If you want a relaxing holiday, avoid this place. It’s an adults-only hotel, yet the constant blasting music, shouting into microphones and desperate attempts to entertain are anything but relaxing. It feels more like a competition with the hotel opposite to see who can make the most noise. Every night until 11 pm. Forget an early night — apparently, sleep before midnight is too much to ask!

The entertainment team? Selective, to say the least. If you’re under 60, don’t expect much interest or interaction. They seem to have zero interest in anyone younger. Strange for a team whose job is to entertain the guests!

The cocktails are sour juice with barely a hint of alcohol. The food is decent, but nowhere near as good as it used to be.

And yes, the reviews about the air conditioning are true. It blows warm air, with no temperature control. Absolutely ridiculous when you’re trying to escape the heat.

Come 6 pm, the pool staff start slamming down the sunbeds to make it painfully obvious they want you gone. Hospitality at its finest!

What should have been a relaxing break has left me more exhausted than when I arrived. Between the relentless noise, disappointing drinks, warm air conditioning and bizarre approach to entertainment, this hotel has lost its appeal.

A serious decline from what it used to be. Adults-only should mean peace, comfort and relaxation — not being subjected to a nightly noise war.

Sadly, this is no longer the hotel it once was. I wouldn’t return

This was our second visit to Costa Adeje but our first at this hotel which was closer to the seafront than the previous hotel and in a good place to access restaurants bars and shops. The room was of a good quality but our only reservation was that although there was air conditioning, moving the control made no difference to the level. On the first nite there we arrived at 11pm and the temperature was 26 degrees and we got little sleep in the heat. further nites were better but I would still have liked to be able to increase the air-con at certain times. Other people have complained about the food but on all-inclusive we had no trouble finding things to eat, and I am a very fussy eater ( I still put on half a stone !). Sunbeds around the pool were generally not a problem, towels were put down but we always managed to get sunbeds everyday. I like to do activities while I am away and took part in petanque, beach volleyball, table tennis, water polo and a couple of other activities which the animation team managed very well, they were never pushy and interacted very well, particularly Joseba. Maria and Patricia. The only complaint we registered was that we had picked that hotel because it did archery but it was not available whilst we were there. Also, some of the events take place in the smoking area (darts, quiz) and as non smokers did not like being breathing in lots of smoke. Noise levels were fine , no problems there. Entertainment was patchy, acrobats first nite were great, Bitter Sweet (couple with guitar and violin) were fantastic. Singers on 2 nites were very average often singing the same songs and lyrics didn't match to the original songs. The hotel celebration nite Back To The Future was average as well, male singer struggled with some notes and weird chorography with the singer and backing singers wearing fur coats (in that heat) for some of the songs. We enjoyed the bingo bongo nites they were fun. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and the most fascinating moments were watching the 2 robots that take the dirty plates and cutlery from the restaurant to the kitchen (including blinking eyes) whilst avoiding holidaymakers. Would we go back again - probably, but would want control on air conditioning in room to be active.
