Fantastic staff, brilliant Privilege experience and a great atmosphere – just improve the rooms

We recently stayed at H10 Gran Tinerfe in Playa de las Américas with the Privilege package and had a genuinely brilliant holiday.

The Privilege experience, staff, entertainment and overall atmosphere were the real standouts. Our only significant disappointment was the condition of the room itself, which felt noticeably less polished than the rest of the Privilege offering.

Location and first impressions

The hotel is in a fantastic position directly on the seafront and promenade, with beaches, bars, restaurants and shops all within easy walking distance.

The sea views and sunsets are beautiful, and the location works really well if you want the facilities of a resort while still being able to walk straight out into Playa de las Américas.

The hotel is adults-only, which we loved, but it certainly isn’t dull. There is a great balance between relaxing and having plenty going on.

Privilege – absolutely worth it

For us, the Privilege upgrade was one of the best parts of the stay.

The private terrace overlooking the sea is lovely, but the Privilege-only self-service bar was the real highlight. Being able to help yourself to drinks without constantly waiting for bar service added a genuinely relaxed and premium feel to the holiday.

Privilege breakfast at El Mirador was another big plus. Having a quieter breakfast overlooking the sea, often with a mimosa, was a lovely way to start the day.

We would definitely book Privilege again.

The room – the main area for improvement

The room was the one part of the Privilege experience that didn’t quite match everything else.

It was perfectly functional, but felt tired in places. Parts of the bathroom flooring appeared to be lifting, the sink plug wouldn’t hold water properly and we were surprised that face cloths/flannels weren’t provided.

There was also one day when the bottled water wasn’t replenished. We mentioned it to reception and the lady we spoke to had it sorted immediately.

That actually reflects our experience of the hotel very well: small issues can happen, but the staff genuinely seemed keen to put things right wherever they could.

So while we do think the Privilege rooms would benefit from some updating, we certainly wouldn’t criticise the way the hotel responded when something was raised.

The staff – outstanding

The staff deserve a huge amount of praise.

From the waiting staff across the restaurants and bars to reception, the spa and entertainment teams, we consistently found people friendly, welcoming and hardworking.

The service felt warm and personable rather than forced, and the staff were a huge part of why we enjoyed the holiday so much.

Entertainment and pool parties

A very special mention has to go to the entertainment team.

They brought so much energy and personality to the hotel during both the day and evening and really went above and beyond to create a fun atmosphere.

The pool parties were probably our favourite part of the entire hotel experience. They were lively, energetic and genuinely memorable rather than feeling like someone had simply put music on beside the pool.

The entertainment team made a real difference to the holiday and deserve a lot of credit.

Spa and treatments

We both used the spa and had substantial treatments during our stay, and the experience was excellent.

We book spa treatments at pretty much every hotel we stay at, so we have had plenty to compare these with, and the massages at H10 Gran Tinerfe were among the best we have had.

The therapists were professional, experienced and delivered genuinely high-quality treatments. We would absolutely recommend the spa.

Pools and outdoor areas

We spent a lot of time around the pool and found the lounger situation better than some reviews had led us to expect.

We are early risers, so after breakfast we would normally get down to the pool at around 10am and there were generally still loungers available.

On days when we returned from excursions or had a later breakfast and arrived closer to lunchtime, finding a good spot became more difficult.

When that happened, we simply sat on the chairs near the bar with our belongings as we spent most of our time either in the pool or at the beach anyway.

We never felt worried about leaving our things while swimming. The hotel felt very safe throughout the stay and we saw no trouble anywhere.

Food and drinks

We enjoyed the food overall and found there was plenty of choice.

We also ate outside the hotel several times because there are so many restaurants within walking distance, which is another advantage of the location.

The bar staff were excellent and we enjoyed the atmosphere around the different bars.

The only odd issue we noticed was that some drinking glasses occasionally had a noticeable musty or slightly cheesy smell. It sounds bizarre, but when you lift a glass to your face it is hard not to notice. A fairly minor issue, but one the hotel should look at.

Overall

We came away with a lot of very good memories of H10 Gran Tinerfe.

The location is excellent, the Privilege facilities are genuinely worth paying for, the spa treatments were superb, the atmosphere was great and the staff across the hotel were outstanding.

The entertainment team and pool parties were a particular highlight, as was the Privilege self-service bar.

The main thing holding the experience back was the condition of the room. If H10 refreshed the Privilege rooms so that they matched the quality of the facilities and service surrounding them, the overall package would be extremely difficult to fault.

Most importantly, whenever we did raise something that could be fixed, the staff responded quickly and positively.

Overall: 4.5/5. A brilliant 4-star adults-only hotel with fantastic staff, atmosphere and Privilege facilities. We would happily return – and would definitely choose Privilege again.

second year in H10 Gran Tinerfe! booked for 10 days this time, best holiday ever! Clean, well organised and managed, pleasant and friendly staff. Was a real pleasure to meet again our lovely and lively Jennifer, our housekeeper and Juan-Carlos our hard working waiter!!! Hellen, strong front desk profesional answering every question and sorting out every single request!!! Great laughs with Brayan, in the Teide Bar, loved the reggae tunes blasted by David in Drago Bar! Service is outstanding in all areas, aprecciated Tone’s quick resolve when our terrace dor had to be fixed!!! Food excellent and covering all expectations, compliments to the Chef for running a tight ship in there!!! Entertainment team doing their job properly, loved the pool parties, these guys are on the ball with organising and runing daily activities that keeps everyone entertained!!!! Reception desk, nothing to fail them considering the volumes of guests and their requests!!!! Food and beverages department obviously managed and presented at high standards, outstanding performance!!! Rooms well presented, clean, spacious! Swimming pools, all very clean, well maintained, plenty of sun lounges, no chassing spots or sunbeds, relaxed atmosphere, pool bar Drago, way better staffed compared with last year, good vibe, plenty of refreshments!! Definetely going back next year!!!

We had another wonderful stay at the hotel! We also stayed here last year and were so happy with our experience that we decided to come back.

The reception staff were friendly, welcoming, and very helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable, and a special thank you to Jenifer from housekeeping, who did an excellent job, just like last year.

The food was excellent and very varied, with plenty of fresh and tasty options. We also really enjoyed the bar, the friendly service, and the fantastic animation team, who kept us entertained throughout our stay.

Overall, we had a great experience and were very happy to return. We would definitely come back again and highly recommend this hotel! Elvira
