Beautiful hotel
The hotel was very beautiful and we enjoyed our stay here. We were bed and breakfast so can’t comment on the lunch and dinner offerings, but the breakfast was good, and there was a wide variety of food available. The rooms were lovely and big, and the beds were very comfortable. They also smelt amazing. There was plenty of availability of sun beds around the pool, but this may be to do with the time of year we went. We don’t have kids, but the kids clubs and children’s pools seemed very good.
It is in a good location, with The Duke Shops next door, with plenty of restaurants there. Plaza del Duque is a luxury shopping centre that is a few hundred metres away but it is down a fairly steep hill, so bear in mind for walking back. The same for walking down to the sea. It’s not far but walking back will be a challenge. We did not watch any of the shows, but seemed like generic hotel offerings.
A few negative points. The pools are advertised as heated, but they are definitely not heated. There isn’t a lot of information about how things work around the hotel, so there was a bit of figuring it out as we went. You get given a card for your towels by the pool, which you give to the lifeguard in exchange for the towels. That card stays there for your stay, and you can just get new towels as and when. Then before you leave, return the towels and get your card back. They will ask for it at reception when you check out. There was a kettle in the room, but no mugs or tea or coffee. Unsure whether this is an all inclusive thing, or whether you have to ask for it. We never figured that out but we didn’t need it. The jungle cocktail bar was good, and the cocktails were lovely but they were very expensive compared to the nearby restaurants. It also seemed like the normal drinks at the poolside bar (soda and local beer) was very expensive. I don’t know if this is to entice people to choose all inclusive, but it was a mistake we only made once.
Overall we did enjoy our stay and would stay there again in future, just a bit more forewarned!!
Not a 5 star hotel
Stayed here a few years ago and thought must try again , just had a week at the Gran Costa Adeje and in my option it’s not what is was even after the refurb. Good points rooms are very good , food is good and fresh. Pool areas can get a little busy but it is what it is. Now the poor bits and no way a 5 star hotel . Waiter service at night is a comedy of errors with drinks arriving eventually and there was only 2 of the waiters who had a good service level. One evening I had the waiter shout at me WAIT, if I was being loud or pushy then I would expect a stern telling to wait but when your polite and understand there not got it right I thought was very rude and so unprofessional in my option and I’m a straight forward person. Over the week all staff looked like they was all training or on some kind of work experience which again I understand that everyone has to be trained up but when it’s so unorganised and a mess it doesn’t come across and says we are a 5 star hotel. Hope above doesn’t sound petty but my experience over this week at a 5 start hotel wasn’t what i expected. Overall Hotel rooms , food and first impressions are very good , food service is good but night service is s shambles and the entertainment is not the best some nights very poor, entertainment team also not the best in my opinion. I have stayed at better 4 start hotels.

3rd visit
10 day sunny visit - ..sorry it’s along review Side sea view Room 291 lovely and shaded in the PM. From landing getting through airport-to coach-to arriving in reception 1hr 30 mins, we were 3rd drop off travelled with Jet 2. We were all inclusive We were greeted at the entrance door, booking in was easy, then escorted to our room. We went straight for a drink, when we came back all the tea/coffee/milk had been delivered. Working the lights what a nightmare, air con we thought was OK. Shower just puts water over the floor, we did work out some of the lights, We left our outside light by the front door on red most days as we don’t need our room doing daily. Entertainment: we always sit outside, it’s way too hot inside. Johnny Circus, many acrobat acts-so not our thing. I must say the 3 Tenors sounded amazing and who doesn’t love a ABBA tribute act. The rooms: decor is all very nice, beds very comfy, wish they wouldn’t stick so many cushions everywhere we just shove them all in a cupboard along with the dressing gowns and slippers 🤣 Lifts: still hit and miss, going to floors no one asked for, also getting to the roof top, lift would go there but wouldn’t open for a few days. Food: Breakfast no complaints, lunch at pool bar was hit and miss some staff knew what they were doing others had no idea. We also tried the truck over by the kids pool. Tea: hubby is a meat eater I am not, but this visit I must agree with other reviews it was very hit and miss. I made good use of the fresh pasta station, but some nights hubby had some rough looking meats as his choice. Even so we did not go hungry or thirsty this holiday and again we only have AI things I am NOT spending more money while away🙈
This visit I thought there was a much different vibe, don’t get me wrong I know hotels are there for to make money. I just don’t know who their aim is, is it a wedding reception venue, young family’s, the more mature traveller, or corporate events. I felt confused.. there was a corporate group which really upset a good few people. 25 plus group in size, extremely loud, took over a huge area in the restaurant, which then people were avoiding, and a few afternoons it was very unpleasant for us on the roof. I hope that style of group doesn’t continue. If I hear reports that’s happening there might not be a 4th visit😢

Great hotel
Just back from 10 days at this hotel it is first class hotel with great staff We had bed and breakfast as there is some many great restaurants near I would not recommend this if you are not able to walk as it is a fair walk down to the sea but coming back up the hill is very hard it has seats allow you to stop and have a rest if you need it we did as it was very hot We had one day of rain but booked the spar and a message in the hotel I can recommend that it was fantastic The hotel is very big a lot bigger then the ones we have stayed before as we have been holidaying alone this coast for the last ten years So I would go back to one of the smaller hotels near the sea and adults only but that is because we are getting old

Uncooked food - Won’t be Back
Back after a week at this ‘refurbished’ hotel, not sure what it was like before but if the cracked and dirty pool tiles and broken sun loungers are anything to go by I’m glad this is my first time, though it’s also my last.
The room was ok, they’ve clearly tried to make it look modern but the air con didn’t work consistently so it was either boiling or freezing. The room was given a once over daily but we never got drinking water and when we asked for some we were told the shop sells it!
The food is absolutely awful. Breakfast was ok but given how bad the buffet was in the evenings it did put me off eating the meats as the very first night there I chose a cream pork dish which was raw in the middle. Actually pink and cold. When I pointed it out to a waiter he didn’t seem shocked and when I went to choose something else I noticed the dish hadn’t been taken away. This could make someone so sick and it could have ruined my holiday. Obviously I was then super cautious of any meat for the rest of the holiday especially as the food was never really piping hot. For the rest it was a bit like a canteen. There’s only so much salad, pizza, pasta and chips you can eat before you start getting fed up, in fact we went out and paid for a lovely steak dinner overlooking the beach one night which was lovely but annoying that we’d paid for half board.
We did complain to reception but all they said was they’d pass it on, well the food was no better that night so don’t think the message got through.
Drinks weren’t too expensive but they tasted cheap, pre mixed or watered down, and were a lot nicer elsewhere, luckily there are lots of bars in the area and even other hotels where we enjoyed a drink. The main entertainment area at the GF Gran is in the entrance but it’s very very hot and seats are limited. We tried once or twice but standing up drinking cheap drinks in a greenhouse isn’t really our idea of enjoyable.
Overall we made the most of our week but we would not stay again due to the food / drinks and the do not care attitude of the staff. Costa Adeje is a nice area with lots of shops and I would visit and stay elsewhere however.
