Flamingo Beach Mate

We were approached on the beach by a chap asking if we would answer a few questions for the town council, such a lie! We owe re then offered to take a blue ticket each! I won a bottle of wine and my husband a free week’s holiday, and to follow him to this hotel. After 5 hours of intense ‘bullying’ we ended up signing for 3 week holidays supposedly 4 star for €3600. What a rip off! We never did get a free holiday!

We had one week at this hotel but then had to book through a 3rd party for the other 2 which we put together to save on flights.

The accommodation failed to meet the standard we signed for (on our contract) and was unsuitable for the following reasons: • Property was dirty, musty, dark, filthy steps and surrounding area. Balcony looking down on a filthy flat roof below. Studio 52. I think some staff are put here. The room below had a broken window. These places for timeshare are over to the left of the site and Tui all been modernised over to the right side. • Oven did not have a shelf, dials broken, light bulb didn’t work, ants on the floor. • Contract stated one bedroom apartment for 2 adults and 2 children. This ‘studio’ had 2 single beds and no room for 2 children. • Health and Safety issues with damp and ants in Studio. Electrical issues in upgraded room.

These issues had a significant impact on the enjoyment and value of our holiday. I reported the problems to the main reception, her name is Efi, immediately and was offered an upgrade if we paid Euro 390. The ‘studio’ would cost approx. Euro 90 a night, 14 nights Euro 1260, and the upgrade room Euro 140 a night, 14 nights Euro 1960. We have paid Euro 2990 to stay there. The upgraded room (extra Euro 390) had sockets hanging out of the wall, no electric to telephone or TV, plugs didn’t work, no glass tray in microwave, patio door didn’t fit, shower head not on the wall, taps very stiff. We were woken every morning at 7am with the restaurant above being swept and banging on the railings with the brush and scraping of the chairs of the floor. Room 313.. We complained to Efi at the Reception but nothing was done. We paid Euro 3600 for 3 weeks 4 star holidays from avacationinthesun of which we stayed at the Flamingo Beach Mate Resort for 1 week. We were not allowed to stay there again and had to book elsewhere (I wonder why!!). The ‘studio’ was booked through 7Across, so another third party we were not aware of and is not specified anywhere on our contract. This firm avactioninthe sun based in Costa Adeje Tenerife are a scam and should be stopped! I have tried to fill in a form on their website and it doesn't work!

My wife and me are part of the week long stay program with this year being our first week at the Flamingo Beach Mate. What a wonderful welcome we had. Free complementary drink with the friendly staff. The rooms are excellent. Clean bathroom, bedroom, kitchen and lounge area. South facing balcony so plenty of sunshine. Sunsets at FBM are wonderful. Breakfast is probably the best we have ever encounted with so much selection, incredible bargin for the price. Location is everything. Harleys is on the doorstep, we love the place. Supermarkets on the main road outside. If there is a complaint to be made, the sun loungers are 50% occupied 50% empty with blue towels on them but theres 2 people in the pool. We couldn't have a sun lounger on 2 days because of this.
