Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Absolutely stunning hotel, we had a standard double room and the bed must be a king size at least, the walk in wardrobe is perfect and has plenty of hangers, mirrors and drawers, the safe is free to use and very easy to operate, the pool is a perfect temperature and all the areas around the pool is kept very clean and picturesque. The towel exchange is a brilliant idea and saves lots of messy towels hanging off balconies. The restaurant is very well managed and organised and the waiting staff are very friendly and can’t do enough for you. Food is very varied and of a high standard, we paid for a 3 course meal one evening and it was lovely to sit outside on the terrace with a saxophonist playing. Would highly recommend this hotel!
Just come back from a fantastic week at the Colon Guanahani. This is my wife and I’s first trip on a b and b basis to Tenerife since around the mid-nineties having had lots of visits on an all inclusive basis. Thankfully, our reasons for booking b and b around this area of Adeje were all justified as there is a stunning choice of restaurants within a short walk. The hotel staff are absolutely amazing with a shout out to Carlos in reception for his help throughout our week. Every member around the hotel will say hello to you from the housemaids to the maintenance staff. I can only comment on our week (28 Aug - 4 Sep) for quiteness but I think this hotel is probably the same all year given the fact there is no music around the pool all day or any activities. To say you can hear a pin drop is an understatement. Beautiful grounds, spotless pool areas with a hot pool on the top floor which has a lovely sun terrace and two lovely cooler but still warm pools on level one. The breakfast was fantastic with hot plates and hot food aswell as a great choice of fruits, yoghurts, continental etc etc. We were told that the hotel was around 90% full but you would never think that by the occupancy at breakfast and evening meal. It just has a great vibe of tranquility and there is no rush to secure a sun bed…..there’s loads of them and the only instance I saw of any towels being taking away from sunbeds was at 10.30am by the lifeguard which is fair play. I’m sure the culprits got them back and were able to get sunbeds around the pool as there were others available anyway. It was such a pleasure not to be concerned about getting a sunbed and we all know that feeling. Anyone that knows the area where this hotel is situated will know that there are great restaurants, shopping and live music within a short walk and we did all of that knowing that the hotel was a peaceful retreat to come back to. We’re just planning our return trip as this hotel has it all for us….great breakfast, friendly staff throughout, lovely rooms, spotless pool areas and a clientele that all seem to respect that their fellow guests are also enjoying some well deserved peace and quiet. If anyone would like any tips on the great restaurants on the doorstep or if you’re interested in cycling, please contact me as I hired a road bike and did some great days and we had some fabulous dining experiences.
Positives: Great hotel with excellent, friendly staff. Spotlessly clean throughout the hotel. Great location - 5 min walk to centre of Costa Adeje restaurants and bars. Great room with large walk in wardrobe and large bathroom with fabulous shower. Pools really clean and given 2 towels on arrival for sun lounger. Sun lounger is padded so super comfy. We only stayed B&B and breakfast was delicious and plentiful.
Negatives: No music at all by pool - I think background easy listening music would have enhanced the pool experience. No place to refill your water bottle (although you do get a new bottle of water every day in mini-bar ) Our room was ground floor and although there were 2 sun loungers and seats/table there - it looked onto a wall - it did look pretty with flowers etc growing along but there was nothing stopping you accessing other neighbouring terrace if you were so obliged (obviously we didn't). We normally would sit out on the balcony a lot but didn't really at all this time.
We stayed here for 10 nights as a couple in which the first 7 nights we stayed and travelled with my wife's sister and brother in law.
Location - The location is really good, although is it a relatively steepish hill to walk back from the seafront, and there's lots of shops, restaurants and bars close by. The atmosphere is really laid back and if you're after a chilled out break then this hotel is just perfect for you.
Greeting - We're greeted with a warm welcome and when a staff member realised we were waiting to check in, she made a point of making us feel more welcome. I never saw this lady again during our stay, so I can't say who it was but it made a lasting impression on me. We were checked in soon enough and the guy serving us, went through everything really professionally, even though he must say the same thing over and over to each guest, it sounded like he was doing this for the first time. Brilliant! He offered us a drink and said our rooms would be ready in 10 minutes, and it was still only 12pm.
Room - Our room was really nice with no issues, we didn't have a view but the room made up for that. Our room included a lovely walk in rain shower, big comfortable bed, brilliant A/C, walk in wardrobe, safe, hairdryer, towels and dressing gown/slippers. The room was spotless with a pack of pringles, bottle of water (replaced every day) and a TV with English channels. My wife has never slept so well in a hotel and even though the room was quite cool, you can easily control the A/C yourself.
Pool - We ventured up to the stunning rooftop pool and sat up there for a few hours. As we went down to get some drinks, the waitress said she bring them up to us and we quickly realised that you can order and pay for your orders from your sun loungers. It was quiet throughout our stay around the pool area, even though there was some renovations taking place but you hardly heard anything from them. So peaceful! Food - The food is out of this world. I hope this message gets back to the chef(s), they were incredible and so friendly and always made a point to say hello. No pizza or burgers here,(expect at the poolside bar), just lovely and well presented food. Breakfast and dinner were equally enjoyable and I just wanted to eat everything. Loved it!
Poolside bar - Brilliant bar with friendly staff with a good selection of food and drinks. Highly recommend their Sangria.
Drinks - Loads to choose from, and I'm sure there's a some kind of drink for everyone or anyone.
Staff - Here's the clincher. The staff are amazing! I can't say enough good words about them all and I mean everyone we encountered were so helpful and friendly. My phone was damaged during our holiday and I asked for help and the guy working on reception was helpful in trying to help me. Wonderful service. There were more times we asked for help and each time, everyone was equally helpful. A special mention to Rachelis, Lucia, Damaris, Ricardo and Dorta but all staff need to be praised as they do a superb job. We miss you.
Negatives - This is a bit picky of me but I do think that there should be a rule about using mobile phones on loud speakers throughout the hotel especially around the pool. A few people did this on the balconies, in the restaurant and in the hotel lobby. Okay! Maybe a quick call, but someone was sitting on their balcony near the pool area and on their phone for about 40 minutes, they were so loud. Also, there was a lady who sat by the pool constantly talking loudly, yes I'm being picky about someone talking but I just find it rude when everyone is being so quiet. I think the hotel should put anti noise scrapppers on the bottom on all furniture in the rooms. You can hear people, including the cleaners, moving furniture, especially chairs, around the rooms. We did complain one time and this was dealt with instantly and swiftly. Great to see and it never happened in the room we complained about again.
I think there should be some kind of happy hour for drinks as they're quite expensive, maybe this would improve the attendance for the nighttime entertainment.
Entertainment - We enjoyed the entertainment, but hardly anyone was watching it. It was like 20 people one night and I felt sorry for the entertainer. We really enjoyed Bitter Sweet because they played the music we like and the saxophone player, which performed during dinner, was really good.
Decor - Yes, maybe an update is required, but with the hotel being constantly cleaned, it's fine as it is. Lovely trees, plant life and a very well designed layout throughout. Loved all the flooring, very well maintained and hardly any damaged areas that are noticeable. Overall - We loved this hotel, it's one of the best we've ever stayed in and it's almost a 5*. We want to come back, but we never go back to the same resort more than once however if we ever go back to Costa Adeje, we would definitely stay here. If you're thinking of staying here, don't hesitate to book it as we highly recommend this hotel. Missing you all and thank you for a great and memorable holiday.
5th visit and always great. Friendly staff, easy check in and it's just a relaxing time! Nothing is too much trouble.
