Callao Salvaje

Salty sea breeze and lots of sunlight, this hotel is the front row seat to the Atlantic Ocean because of its privileged position right on the seashore. Tenerife South Airport is located just 22 kilometres. The light, friendly atmosphere and kind staff will make guests feel right at home. The hotel is completely remodelled and redecorated offering a high level of comfort. Hotel has a saltwater pool, a full-range fitness room, tennis court and a dinner restaurant. The tranquil palm tree garden offers a playground, a large yoga-Pilates platform and a wellness centre with different kinds of soothing massage. The complex is situated in the small town of Callao Salvaje in Costa Adeje in the South of Tenerife. Great little hotel

We booked this hotel as a last minute holiday at a fantastic price and overall had a very enjoyable stay. The hotel is in an amazing location, with many rooms offering beautiful sea views. The rooms are basic in terms of décor but are very spacious, with a well-equipped kitchenette for self-catering and a large bathroom. There is no bidet and only limited toiletries are provided, consisting of liquid hand soap and a shampoo dispenser. Housekeeping was efficient , with the rooms cleaned daily and a generous supply of fresh towels. The pool areas were spotless, with plenty of sun loungers and parasols available throughout the day. Families are particularly well catered for, with a lovely playroom, pool floats provided, and facilities suitable for children of all ages. The rooftop terrace was a real highlight, offering a quieter space to relax with luxury double loungers and fantastic views. The all-inclusive drinks selection was good, and there were poolside sandwiches and snacks available during the day which were enjoyable. Unfortunately, the main restaurant was the biggest disappointment and, in my opinion, lets down an otherwise excellent hotel. The food selection was very limited and particularly poor for vegetarians. On a couple of occasions, the sweetcorn served at lunchtime was still frozen. That said, I was informed that the kitchen would happily prepare alternative dishes, such as an omelette, if requested. The evening entertainment needs an overhaul as it consists of a guy a couple of nights a week sining in the restaurant over dinner for an hour or two. The staff were outstanding throughout our stay, especially the reception team. Esther and Fernando were exceptional, providing excellent customer service and always willing to help. All reception staff spoke a high level of English and went out of their way to assist guests whenever needed. Would I return? Possibly, but I would choose self-catering next time, as the food was the only aspect that fell below the standard of the rest of the hotel.

Lovely hotel

Atlantic holiday hotel is such a lovely hotel . Everyone of staff are so pleasant and accommodating to your every need . Our room had sea and pool view .which was lovely. Food was nice . And all inclusive drinks etc were really good . Couldn't fault hotel . Will come back again for sure .if I was to give a lower rate I would say so because of no air con . But fans were provided.

Lovely holiday!!

We’re about to leave after a wonderful week at this hotel. I was worried about coming after reading the reviews - if this is you, please don’t worry.

The reviews mentioning the hotel being ‘run down’ are a bit extreme in my opinion, yes it could do with a lick of paint here and there but our room was modern and lovely (we were in a one bedroom apartment).

There is no air con at the hotel so if that’s a big issue for you I’d recommend staying somewhere else. We ended up moving the mattress from the sofa bed into the bedroom so that we could share the fan with our three year old as it would’ve been very hot without it. We all slept very well every night.

I wanted to upgrade to a sea view room but unfortunately these sold out before we had the chance - our view was still beautiful though. We had a brilliant view of the mountains and could see the little beach next to the hotel.

As far as noise goes, as other reviews have mentioned I was woken up a couple of times by the bin lorry at around 4am. This didn’t last long though and I found it easy to get back to sleep. There was some noise in the evenings from local bars but that usually stopped by 11pm ish.

The local area is quiet and calm, which I enjoyed personally but if you’re into a more social/busy holiday then this probably isn’t the hotel for you. There are local buses available, but we hired a car which I’d recommend if you’re self catering because the local shop is very expensive (fine for little bits here and there but defo not a full shop). There is a mercadona a 10 min drive away. The restaurants nearby are lovely, we ate at nebula, the tandoori across the road and the restaurant down on the beach and were impressed by them all.

The communal areas are amazing, the pool is clean and sun loungers are very comfortable. We didn’t usually struggle to get one, but I’d recommend going in the morning to secure one. A lot of people do reserve sun loungers first thing, so bear that in mind. There were signs up saying it’s not allowed but it wasn’t policed. The pool bar is really well priced.

One of the highlights of the hotel for us was the kids pool, our son loved it and it was really nice to be able to just sit with our legs in the water while he played.

Contrary to the other reviews, there was loads of entertainment throughout our stay. There was aqua gym, stretching and meditation, a mini disco for the kids, and a kids club for 45 minutes in the afternoon. The lady who did it was lovely and great with the kids.

Our main reason for giving it 4 stars instead of 5 was that we were self catering, and there was no oven or microwave. The facilities in the room were good, but obviously that massively limited what we could make for ourselves. I think next time we’d go all inclusive, the food looked lovely and fresh.

Overall, we’ve had an amazing time and would definitely recommend. The views are absolutely second to none, with beautiful sunsets every night. The staff were so friendly and catered to our every need. Thank you everyone!

TripAdvisor Review
Atlantic Holiday hotel from nightmare.

Atlantic Holiday 4 star hotel. Hi there just back from one of the 4star. According to the advert on Jet2 Holidays, this hotel was supposed to be a 4-star resort with plenty of activities, evening entertainment, poolside entertainment, good food, and a fun atmosphere. Unfortunately, the reality was completely different. One of the most concerning issues was hygiene. Cockroaches were visibly running around in the kitchen area, which was extremely unpleasant and unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one advertised as 4-star. After breakfast each day, guests could not even get a drink until the pool bar opened. The pool bar itself was often dirty and poorly maintained. The swimming pool water was extremely salty, and when I asked the lifeguard whether regular water quality tests were carried out, he said he did not know and advised me to ask reception because he had not seen anyone testing the water. The children's play area was also disappointing. It consisted of only a small climbing frame placed on sharp volcanic pebbles, making it uncomfortable and potentially unsafe for children and difficult to walk on even while wearing sandals. The overall appearance of the hotel was very poor. From the outside, the building looked neglected and run down, more like a ruin than a 4-star holiday resort. Overall, I feel that the hotel was misrepresented in Jet2's advertising. The facilities, cleanliness, maintenance, and level of service fell well below the standards that were promised and below what I would reasonably expect from a 4-star hotel. I am very disappointed with the experience.
