I am not normally one to write a review, in fact i dont believe i ever have before but felt this was necessary - we traveled in a group of 12 friends and 1 baby and the only positive is the pool. Literally everything else was terrible. The aircon doesn't work, they provided a dirty aircon unit that leaked everywhere nearly ruining our passports, they provided a fan which was okay, but the socket it was plugged into broke, one of the group found a bolt in their yoghurt which must have dropped from the ceiling. On the surface the hotel looks okay, but rooms terrible, walkways terrible, lifts too small, no atmosphere, couldn't get a sunbed after 7.30am, not enough sunbeds, drinks service was slow. Please stay elsewhere in Santa Ponsa.
Our second stay at bhaia del sol and the hotel is looking great, some refurbishment since our last stay. We requested a pool or Seaview view and we got our sea view. The hotel is half board, breakfast and dinner, the food is as expected, buffet area and sous chef, the drinks in the resteraunt can be charged to your room to be settled by card on departure, the bar is card and sells brand drinks and var food. The pool areas great, small plunge pool and larger pool with accessibility access. Only complaint would be they need more beds and a life guard, towels lay there on beds for most of the day, no one on them but we always got beds around 2/3pm, if your a morning sun seeker, get down early. All staff at the hotel are great. The highlight of the hotel is the rooftop terrace, great views, good cocktails and entertainment or music to see in the sunset. Location wise you are on the far side of the bay, 15 mins walk to the strip and 25/30 mins to the square, best part is santa ponsa beach is amazing, perfect for sunsets and swimming, weather's great! Will we be back absolutely!
We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Bahía del Sol. The staff were always friendly, welcoming, and ready to help with any questions. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. Our room was spacious, and the housekeeping service was excellent every day.
The food was varied and tasty, with plenty of options for breakfast and dinner. The location is also great, close to the beach, restaurants, and public transport, making it easy to explore the island.
Thank you to the entire team for making our vacation so enjoyable. We truly felt welcome throughout our stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Mallorca. We hope to come back again in the future!
I stayed at this hotel for a family holiday, but unfortunately my experience was very mixed.
I had booked accommodation for myself only. On arrival, reception informed me and other members of my family that despite us all making separate bookings, the hotel was overbooked and we would all have to share one room. We were understandably unhappy, but agreed because we didn’t want to be left without accommodation.
The room was far too small for the number of people staying in it. There was barely enough space for our luggage, we had no privacy, and it felt as though we were expected to share simply because we were related. We couldn’t unpack properly and, to make matters worse, the following day we were told to vacate the room by 12pm. We then had to leave our luggage in storage and spend hours waiting by the pool while the hotel found us another room. This happened on day two of a seven-night holiday, wasting a significant part of our trip.
As compensation, the hotel offered us one free drink with dinner each evening. While appreciated, it didn’t come close to making up for the disruption and inconvenience.
Unfortunately, the restaurant service was inconsistent throughout our stay. Depending on where you were seated, drink service could be extremely slow. On our final evening, my sister and I weren’t even offered a drink until we were eating dessert.
What made the experience particularly disappointing was the difference in how guests appeared to be treated. A Spanish family seated next to us received constant attention from the restaurant manager, who even took their young daughter to choose a dessert. Meanwhile, we struggled to get any service. When Pedro eventually came to take our drinks order, he tried to charge us despite the complimentary drinks we had been promised. I politely queried this with the manager who had brought the drinks over, but rather than acknowledging the issue, he simply walked away without saying anything. I appreciate there may have been a language barrier, but basic courtesy doesn’t require words.
Our drinks were taken away and we were left waiting again. Before returning to us, Pedro cleared the neighbouring family’s table and continued serving them. He then appeared to discuss us with them, as they looked over at us laughing while he remarked about “five-star service”. Whether intended or not, it left us feeling embarrassed, uncomfortable and unwelcome. It genuinely felt as though the quality of service we received depended on our nationality, which was very upsetting.
That said, there were positives. Once we were finally moved, our room was modern, spacious and very comfortable. The housekeeping staff worked incredibly hard and kept the room spotless throughout our stay. Although my Experience of the service in the restaurant was poor most of the time, jesús the waiter was extremely friendly and always provided an excellent service. The air conditioning in our room worked well, although other members of my family’s rooms weren’t as fortunate. The main pool area was lovely, and there was also a quieter pool near our block which was perfect for relaxing.
Overall, the hotel has good facilities and hardworking housekeeping staff, but being overbooked, having our holiday disrupted, and the poor and inconsistent customer service left a lasting negative impression. Sadly, I wouldn’t choose to stay here again.
We recently stayed at the Bahia del Sol for 4 nights and it unfortunately was not a great stay. On arrival, the reception staff were quite rude and blunt- we also witnessed them being rude to other hotel guests too. We had emailed the hotel prior to arrival as we were celebrating our engagement. The staff said there was nothing they could do to allow us to celebrate, and we were placed in a tiny box room that didn’t even have a room number- it was through a fire door and in a stairwell. We experienced constant noise from staff and the kitchen areas and couldn’t unpack due to lack of space. The shower door didn’t open fully as it crashed into the toilet.
The food in the restaurant was ok, nothing special.
The pool area was also quite poor. No subbed after around 8am that often lay empty all day.
