Playa de Muro

This property is 2 minutes walk from the beach. Located next to Platja de Muro Beach, Playa Esperanza offers impressive sea views. The Playa Esperanza is just 100 m from S'Albufera Nature Reserve, which is ideal for hiking and cycling. The nearest golf club is in Alcúdia, 15 minutes' drive away. The buffet restaurant serves a variety of Mediterranean cuisine and features a terrace overlooking Alcudia Bay. There is also a poolside bar and lobby bar, where free Wi-Fi is available.

Beautiful Resort, but Dining and Service Fell Short

A beautiful resort with a fantastic beachfront location, excellent facilities and good family rooms. The breakfast buffet is also very good.

The main drawback is that dinner is only available as a buffet, despite the hotel’s à la carte lunch restaurant, Luna. It would be better if it also stayed open for dinner, so guests would not have to leave the hotel to enjoy dinner outside the breakfast dining room.

We also found the overall service attitude among the staff to be below expectations, although there were of course individual exceptions.

Overall, we had a lovely family holiday and a very good experience, but next time I would probably prefer to spend my money at an Iberostar (or the like) resort.

Disappointing choice

I am currently staying at Playa Esperanza in Mallorca, and I have to say I am very disappointed with my choice.

After a long journey from the USA and arriving in the summer heat, I was surprised that there wasn’t even complimentary drinking water available upon arrival or anywhere in the hotel. It’s a small gesture that would make a big difference for guests.

We paid around $6,000 for 8 nights, which is comparable to the cost of many luxury hotel suites, yet the room is incredibly small. There is barely enough space to move around, let alone store luggage or unpack comfortably. There is no iron in the room, and even if you request one, there isn’t enough space to set up an ironing board.

The room itself feels dated. The towels are old and rough, the bed is uncomfortable, and the pillows made it difficult to get a good night’s sleep.

Another disappointment was having to pay extra for the beach sunbeds and umbrella—about $20 per day for two loungers and one umbrella. At this price point, I expected those amenities to be included.

Overall, nothing about this stay has made me feel that it was worth the money. After spending so much on the hotel and traveling all the way from the United States, I truly wish I had chosen another property. I hope this review helps future travelers make a more informed decision.

Great location, excellent activities for kids and terrible food !

The first time we stayed at this hotel was in 2018. We returned for a long weekend in 2025 and this summer (2026) we decided to spend two weeks here with our three children, aged 13, 11, and 9.

The hotel's location is fantastic, right on Playa de Muro, which is considered one of the best beaches in Europe. Some parts of the hotel have been renovated and look very modern.

The resort consists of three buildings. The main building houses the reception and the general hotel rooms with the restaurant, the second building offers apartments, and the third one consists of one-bedroom suites. Most rooms have either a full or partial sea view.

For families with children, I would definitely recommend the apartment building, as the apartments include a small kitchen. It is also located next to the largest swimming pool, where most of the children's entertainment takes place, including inflatable castles and other activities. There are two additional pools that are smaller but still a good size. The hotel also has a spa, which we didn't use, as well as an indoor pool and a fitness center.

A special mention goes to the kids' club. It is very spacious and offers plenty of activities for children of different ages. There is also a large outdoor playground where children can spend hours having fun. Unfortunately, during our second week, the playground area became overrun with mosquitoes, which was a real disaster. We could hardly stay there without being bitten. I assume the hotel may need to arrange for the grass and surrounding areas to be treated regularly to keep the mosquitoes under control. There is also a dedicated teen room with billiards, table football, and video games, which is open until 5:00 p.m.

The hotel itself is very clean. However, getting your room cleaned can sometimes be an adventure. On several occasions, housekeeping simply didn't come. When we called reception, we were told that room cleaning was only available until 3:00 p.m. One day, nobody came in the morning, and in the afternoon we were relaxing in the room. At 2:45 p.m. I called reception to ask if someone could still clean it. Eventually, the room was cleaned around 4:30 p.m. I believe the hotel simply doesn't have enough housekeeping staff for the number of rooms.

As for the food, we chose the half-board option because the price difference at the time of booking was minimal, and with three children who are always hungry, it seemed like a good idea.

Breakfast was decent, with fresh juices, eggs cooked to order, pancakes, pastries, fruit, and many other options.

Unfortunately, dinner was a real disappointment. The meat was often very tough, and both the chicken and fish tasted as if they had been taken straight from the freezer and cooked without much care. Occasionally, we found something enjoyable, such as pizza or meatballs with rice, but those were exceptions rather than the rule. The local paella was especially disappointing. The only consistently good options were the fresh salads, including tomatoes, lettuce, corn, and carrots, and sometimes the soups. Every evening featured a different theme, such as Italian night. My husband jokingly crossed himself before entering the restaurant, hoping we would find something good to eat.

There are also three restaurants available for lunch. Again, we found the food to be rather average. Some of the rules were also confusing—for example, you are not allowed to take even a portion of French fries to your room. I'm not sure why; perhaps they are concerned about people taking the plates.

On the positive side, every member of the staff was exceptionally kind, friendly, and helpful. They genuinely did everything they could to make our stay as pleasant as possible.

Overall, this hotel has an unbeatable beachfront location, excellent facilities for families with children, and wonderful staff. However, the disappointing dinner buffet, inconsistent housekeeping, and the mosquito problem during our second week prevented it from being the outstanding experience.

Good stay!

We recently stayed here for a family vacation with three adults and three children (ages 18, 16, and 14). Overall, we had a good stay and would consider staying here again, but there are a few quirks that we wish the hotel would improve.

One of the biggest frustrations was the food policy. The bar doesn't serve food, and guests aren't allowed to bring in outside food. In addition, you can't take food from one of the hotel's restaurants into another, even though they're all part of the same property.

Breakfast is excellent, and I highly recommend including it with your stay. However, the breakfast hours (7:45 AM–10:45 AM) are very strict. One morning we arrived right at 10:45 AM and were given a hard time about being seated. We were then asked to leave by 11:05 AM, which felt unnecessarily rushed. If you have an early excursion or need breakfast before 7:45 AM, don't expect much flexibility.

Another inconvenience was borrowing an iron. The hotel requires a €50 cash deposit—cash only, with no option to charge it to your room. While you do get the money back, it feels like an outdated and unnecessary process.

The sauna hours could also be expanded, and if you plan to have dinner at the hotel, it's much more affordable to purchase the dinner package in advance rather than paying on-site.

On the positive side, the hotel has a lot going for it. It's right on the beach, the property is clean, the rooms are comfortable, and the staff is friendly. We especially appreciated the complimentary late checkout they provided, which was a thoughtful gesture.

The location is another major advantage. It's only about a 10-minute drive to both Alcúdia and Can Picafort. Free parking is available both on the property and along the street in front of the hotel. There are also several restaurants, bars, and supermarkets directly across the street, making it easy to grab a meal or anything you may need.

Overall, we had a pleasant stay. While the hotel is a bit expensive for the level of service provided, the beachfront location, cleanliness, comfortable accommodations, and convenient location make it a solid choice. With a little more flexibility and improved guest services, it would be an even better experience.
