- Majorca Holidays
- Playa de Muro
- Iberostar Alcudia Park

The family-friendly hotel has a perfect location in the Playa de Muro area, directly on the seemingly endless fine sandy beach and the crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea. Puerto de Alcudia with its shops, restaurants, bars and entertainment venues is about 6 km away. The airport lies some 60 km from the property. The hotel offers guest rooms with air conditioning, TV and a bathroom with bath amenities. The U-shaped hotel complex opens up towards the beach and surrounds a lovely pool landscape and a delightful garden area, offering security and privacy to its guests. While the children are being entertained at the club, parents can indulge in the spa. This is an ideal place for couples and families with children wishing to spend a beach holiday under the sun.
As a family of 6 4 Adults and 2 children age 3 and 6 we had overall a lovely holiday. The food, entertainment and location to the beach and port were excellent. There was a large pool and a small shallow pool for little ones, some slides which were great. A lovely little park with 2 small trampolines a little slide and various other play equipment. The staff were all very friendly and the entertainment team fantastic! My daughter and family were put into a small bedroom with a small balcony which they didnt feel was big enough and asked to move to another room which the hotel did. My husband and myself paid extra for Prestige Services and paid for a sea view room. We were on the 1st floor not much of a sea view as lots of trees, and the air conditioning was very very poor. The telephone we could hardly hear when it was rung. We asked to move but couldn't do for 4 days. When I complained about the air conditioning the receptionist blamed it on me saying I had the doors open too long! The man came to look at the air conditioning said it was working! After my daughter complained to management on our behalf a fan was delivered. Also with Prestige there was a room which you could get sandwiches, drinks, cakes etc through the day! The fridge wasn't working so all drinks were warm! This fridge was like this all week, again we complained but nothing was done. You also had your own check in with Prestige, the receptionist not once spoke to us or acknowledged us the whole week. Remember we paid above and beyond for these services. Small things to be put right would have made our stay more enjoyable. Management did give us free massage, a bottle of sparkling wine, some fruit and a Iberostar star bag as a goodwill gesture but it's not what we wanted. A few things put right would have made our holiday great. The grandkids had a lovely time, and it is a family hotel not for couples.
Very disappointing experience. The rooms are very basic. The food is just ok. They have a bbq buffet that was the highlight of food for this resort but you have to make a reservation. We paid for two meals per day but that doesn’t include water, soft drinks, etc. They charge you for water! The family shows are bland. The place is packed with running kids whose parents are not monitoring making it feel like you are at an amusement park. They nickel and dime you for everything. Overall, not enjoyable and I would not recommend.
Pros
Beach is fantastic. Very sandy and water very clear and clean. Also very safe.
Place is generally tidy. You don't see rubbish or broken glass lying around.
Food is pretty good quality and ice cream is always available.
Place never felt crowded despite being peak season.
Entertainment is adequate. I wouldn't say sensational (although ABBA night was), but it was fairly okay.
Cons
The lobby/reception has a constant horrible mouldy/toilet smell which never went away. The room floors had the same smell
There's no real nice place to have a quiet drink in a quiet setting with nice sofas. This was a big miss for me.
Sunbeds are a real issue. Despite the resort constantly telling people not to reserve sunbeds people did it anyway. We could never get one after breakfast. Other resorts we've stayed in allowed us to remove unused sunbeds with towels on them. Most of the day sunbeds were unused with towels on them.
Air con is almost non existent. Room air con was minimal. We thought there was an issue but apparently thats as much air con as their is. The place always felt warm.
No self serve drinking water available in lobby or sports bars. Always have to ask someone for it. The bar at the other end by the beach you could take water yourself.
Staff generally didn't look happy. There were one or two exceptions but most felt like it was a chore to serve or help people.
Room (family room) was very minimalistic. TV barely worked. Bathroom didn't even have a lock.
All inclusive is very expensive yet they only provide the most basic beer, wine, cocktails and whisky.
The aquapark was very disappointing. Must be the world's smallest resort aquapark. Like two small slides for 6 year old and two for toddlers.
Kids mini disco too early at 5.15pm. The sun is still soaring and it takes place in the smallest kids pool.
The staff didn't seem to speak as much English as I expected despite most guests coming from the UK.
Summary
Expected a lot more for the extortionate price. The place didn't feel like luxury felt a bit run down especially the smells. I think a future trip to Mallorca I would stay in a cheaper hotel on the beach as there are many places outside to eat and drink. Other guests I spoke to on our floor mentioned they didn't have a connection with the staff as they just didn't look happy.
Message for resort
Your guests are paying a premium to stay with you. Make them feel important. A smile goes a long way. Asking them if they need anything makes a big difference. And please do something about the smell in the lobby. Its the first experience guests encounter.
Location it’s absolutely gorgeous . Muro beach it’s a dream The hotel itself it’s ok ish but it definitely has some minus points : 1 . The cleanliness- it’s way below the normal standards . We stayed for 10 days and not once they’ve changed out sheets , or clean the balcony or the table on the balcony or any mirror in the room. Or leave us any clean glasses . My boy had an accident one night and I took the sheets out in the morning for them to be changed and they put them back 😅. Although after we’ve been to the reception a couple days in a row to ask them to clean our balcony and put new sheets this didn’t happen . They would send somebody and they would take out the bin and put new towels and that’s it . So this it’s a big NO No for us . It’s such a shame as we upgraded our top. To sea view and unfortunately we couldn’t enjoy the view as out glass balcony was never wiped . Anyway …. It is what it is . 2 . At the pool the sunbeds are rammed one next to each other and if you don’t run in the morning to put a towel then you’re out of luck for that day 😅. Also I’m not sure if it’s how the hotel is built but at the pool regardless of where you stay it’s so windy even though outside there is no wind at all . But writhing the hotel poll area it’s really bad . 3. For smokers and vape , bad news as this is a no smoking hotel . And we didn’t find out from the hotel 😅 on no as there are no signs or anything says that’s it not . They also don’t have designated areas for smoking either . If you want to smoke or vape you need to get out of the hotel in the front and you can’t smoke or vape there . I understand that this is a non smoking hotel but everywhere where there is a no smoking zone they have a designated area for smoking even in airports . Anyways let’s move on . The food was actually really good and a variety was offered every night . Downside was that if you went all inclusive like us and you want to snack in between the meal you had to go out of the hotel and on a side in the from you had a good truck with some snack . Mind you there is a long walk to get out of the hotel and then come back , very uncomfortable . If you wanted to stay at the beach which we stayed most of the days it’s a dream . The water it’s absolutely stunning and warm ( warmer then the pool ) and if you wanted to rent a sunbed it’s 21 euros per day also it’s literally a few steps from the pool . The staff was ok as well . I gave it 3 stars because of the cleaning which tbh it’s the most important for me . They had plenty of shows for the kids in the night . Overall was ok .
We don’t usually stay at family-focused hotels when we travel, but I found the hotel and service first rate. Rooms were great. Staff was very accommodating, particularly Hugo at the sports bar who gave great recommendations and took care of our family while watching late night World Cup matches.
