This hotel is located in the tourist centre of Playa de Muro, just 800 m from the nearest beautiful sandy beach. Inviting shopping areas with shops, bars and restaurants are to be found in the vicinity. The Airport can be reached within an hour drive. The welcoming 340 rooms come with everything added for guests to guarantee a pleasant stay. There are three swimming pools in the outdoor complex, two of them for all the guests and one only for adults, as well as a sun terrace furnished with sun loungers. Those wishing to relax may kick back in the hot tub and sports enthusiast may make use of the hotel tennis courts and the in-house gym. Guests can enjoy at the buffet restaurant with a wide variety of dishes for all meals or drink at the bar.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
We had an excellent stay. 23 family members of all ages. The entertainment was fabulous. Food was enjoyable. Everywhere was very clean. Great showers. The pools were all super. Very accommodating.
I always write a very fair review when I go away. I’ve stayed in Majorca 6 times now and have experienced amazing, average and poor hotels. I would say this hotel is average at 3*.
I’ll start with the disadvantages:
Food - The food at this hotel is below standard for a Majorca All inclusive. If you like Pork cooked 20 different ways then this is the place for you. However if you prefer variety then I would stay away. In our 7 night stay, we ate out 4 of the nights and 3 lunches as the quality and variety of food was just poor. I’ve had chicken nuggets with raw batter, beef (although I’m not sure it was) burgers that were VERY RARE and totally inedible for me. Lots of meats are on the bone which again I’m not a fan of. The ribs were crusty and dry. They have a lot of the same things each night including plain pasta and tasteless sauces. The desserts section is way below standard. What they do put out for desserts is 50/50 in taste and quality, there just isn’t enough to choose from. The soups are okay but very watery. Bread can be hard at times. Breakfast was probably the better meal of the day but still no where near as good as other 4* hotels in the Alcudia/Playa de Muro area. There is a snack bar outside available from midday to 5pm. The food is better here however you do need to be careful as only the items on the menu with yellow dots next to them are all inclusive the rest you have to pay for. For example if you are wanting a plain beef burger that’s all included but if you want cheese or bacon then you need to pay for the full meal regardless of whether you are all inclusive or not.
Drinks - this leads me on to the drinks. Local alcohol is used for both all inclusive drinks and premium. If you are all inclusive then you are given a 50% discount on premium drinks (approx €3.50 per drink). We asked for an alcoholic drink at one bar and it was free then in the evening we asked at a different bar and were told we had to pay - confusing. Some of the bar staff can be very abrupt and don’t listen to you. You are given a free large bottle of water in your room on arrival however if you want this replenished you must pay for smaller bottles at the bar €1.25 each or you can pay for a bottle at reception after midnight - as they called this “emergency water only” - which I think is ridiculous when you have paid for all inclusive. So in essence you can have free beer all day long but water you have to pay for!
Check out time - 12 noon. To say this hotel predominately uses Jet 2 and the majority of arrivals and departures are late into the evening for this hotel. The check out time is too early. We were picked up at 7.30pm and had to be out of our rooms by 12 noon. There is a storage room for luggage with showers in. Courtesy rooms are not offered. You are allowed drinks until your departure however you are not allowed to have evening meal. To get into the restaurant, your room key is scanned and after check out their is taken off of you therefore you cannot enter the restaurant for evening meal - again I think this is really strange when the hotel know most check outs for Jet 2 customers aren’t until the evening.
The lifts - there’s 2 in each block however 1 of ours was out of order for 5 of the days we were there which for people with poor mobility was not good. Queues at the lift were big at times and only 4 people max could fit in them.
The spa was EXTORTIONATE!! €72 each for a 50 min massage. I’ve paid as low as €40 elsewhere and it has been incredible so €72 was not in my price range to pay. It really wasn’t worth it.
Advantageous:
Cleanliness - the hotel, rooms and pool area are all kept really clean. We had fresh towels when we needed them. You can put a deposit down for extra beach towels at reception although we did not do this so I cannot comment on the price or quality. Rooms were always kept clean, as was the general areas of the whole hotel.
Pools - chlorine and freshwater pools are available. There is also an adults only pool and Jacuzzi. Temperature of these were perfect. There is a lifeguard at each pool from 10am until 5pm. Inflatables are not allowed in the adults only pool only in the main pools. Each pool has a walk in section for those with mobility requirements. Entertainment is around the main pools everyday. They play some great music also. Anything ranging from 70s to modern day! Plenty of sub loungers available everyday with parasols - no 8am fight for loungers which I really liked.
Free shuttle to the beach 6 days a week - no shuttle on Saturdays. This runs from 10am until 7.30pm. Driver is lovely! There is also a train that stops outside the hotel that takes you to the beach and around playa de Muro as well - around €4 each.
Noise - our room was right above entertainment and with the balcony door closed it was near enough silent - barring some noisy neighbours but that is not the hotels fault. For the most part the noise was never an issue.
Entertainment - kids club available, different activities each day for kids and adults. Evening programme runs every night. Kids disco, bingo, karaoke, music themed nights, acrobats etc.
EXTRA -
MarineLand trip - it was good and the animal shows were great but you did not get picked up until 4.45pm and the park itself is only small. We could have been picked up 2-3 hours earlier. The hotel failed to mention this to us. It was €54.50 each including transfer - but the transfer picks you up at a hotel by the beach which you would need to walk to (15 mins) as the free shuttle doesn’t start until 10 and the pick up was 9.55 from Alcudia Park hotel.
Jet 2 rep was available at specific times and days - check your Jet 2 app for details or ask at reception.
Reception staff were lovely and helpful when we needed them.
Safe in the room - not included. You have to pay for this at reception.
tourist tax for 2 people was €40 (ish) on arrival at the hotel.
Small picnic lunch was available to take out of the hotel upon request at reception the day before. Food was also offered to us upon arriving which I thought was nice considering it was past midnight.
Small shop on site - the rest of the shops and bars etc were by the beach and again if you wanted to go to them in the evening you need to be mindful of how you’re getting back to the hotel if you can’t or don’t want to walk as the free shuttle stops at 7.40pm.
There is a kettle in the room however you either need to bring your own tea, coffee etc, get it from the restaurant or buy it.
Our yearly visit to this amazing hotel! Yet again, amazing from start to finish! Most importantly to be remembered by the staff from all areas of the hotel! Particular mention to Nair from reception, Rafa at the snack bar and Rafa the main bar, the lady cook at the snack bar, Samuel and as always Fabian, Sarah, Naroa, Barbara and Estefi! One thing we did notice this year was lather queues at the bar and staff working flat out which meant long wait times and missing parts of the entertainment however we would still highly recommend this hotel! Sad to see the games room wasn’t open as a lot of people at the hotel were saying how their kids disappointed it wasn’t open as unique to other hotels! Maybe be open next year 😊 Looking forward to returning next summer to our home from home 🩷

Unfortunately, our stay at EIX Lago Hotel in Playa de Muro was a huge disappointment.
From early morning, there is an absolutely disgusting smell of sewage and faeces around the hotel. The smell is so strong that at times it is genuinely difficult to stay outside — it actually makes you feel sick. You come on holiday to relax, but instead you have to put up with the smell of sewage from the moment you wake up.
The food is another major disappointment. The food is simply terrible — poor quality, not tasty and definitely not what you would expect from a hotel like this.
Overall, the constant smell of sewage and the awful food completely ruined our experience. Definitely not worth the money and not a hotel I would recommend.
Rooms well sized, clean and had everything you need. Air conn wasn't very powerful and needed to leave bedroom door open to get cool air from the living room. Entertainment and hotel facilities good. 3 pool areas and loved the fact that they don't open the pool gates until 10am so you didn't have to play the whole towels at dawn game for sun beds. Literally never struggled for a sunbed which was great! Overall, I'd stay at the hotel itself again. The only thing I'd flag is that it's a good 10/15 minute walk into playa de muro (there is a shuttle bus during the day) and playa de muro itself is pretty basic. Alcudia and Peurta Pollenca are by far better locations (in my opinion) with much more night life and things to do so for this reason I'd find a hotel in those locations if staying in north east Mallorca again. Nice hotel, just not the best location for us.
