- Melia Palma Marina

Strategically located next to the seafront promenade, this resort allows guests to enjoy the beauty of Palma and its surroundings. With easy access to most touristic and historic spots, such as the Bellver Castle, the Cathedral and the historical city center, where guests will be able to find numerous shopping venues, restaurants and museums. The airport is approximately 8 km away. The hotel offers fully-equipped 345 rooms with air-conditioning, en-suite bathroom with toiletries and a balcony to enjoy Mediterranean climate. Guests can relax at the spa which includes a water circuit, sauna and massage cabins, and which is located on the hotel terrace. The hotel also offers a local cuisine restaurant with a concept from the land to the plate.
There is a lady called Violeta Diaz who works at the hotel, I believe she is a manager. she was extremely rude, hostile and confrontational towards me, she made me cry. It spoilt the whole holiday. When I said that I would write my experience on trip advisor she called me a blackmailer. It was a horrific experience to have had and I would urge anyone not to stay at the hotel, especially if you are a woman alone. I’ve never had an experience like this in all my years of travel.
We stayed at the Meliá Palmanova for three nights and had a very enjoyable stay. Check-in was seamless, and our room had a fantastic view overlooking the pool and the harbour. The room was well equipped with a free safe, coffee machine, iron, and a well-stocked minibar. The huge bed was very comfortable, and there was a curtain beside it which opens directly into the shower, which was a bit cheeky! Breakfast was great with a huge selection, and fresh egg station making super omelettes. There were plenty of sunbeds around the pool, so finding a spot wasn’t a problem. However, many hotel towels were left on unused sunbeds for most of the day, which was a little frustrating. Overall, it was a lovely hotel in a great location, and I would happily stay here again.
Overall very pleased with our stay. The hotel and the outside spaces are well kept, clean and modern. All the staff are really friendly and efficient. We only had breakfast so I can’t comment on the restaurants but the choice and quality was as others have said is really good. We had a modern room with a partial harbour view balcony which was great on the 7th floor. It is a bit of a walk I would say 25 mins from the city centre and when it’s hot that can get a bit tedious if you don’t plan or take what you need for the day. A few good bars and places for food are around the hotel including takeaways so if you want something quick that’s sorted. The pool bar staff are some of the most hardworking people I’ve ever seen. In my experience in our three day stay more staff are required here and people were getting a bit annoyed at the wait. This brings me to the only negative really, it’s great to have a pool option in a city break hotel but if you’re a pool person who wants to stay there all day I would not recommend it. The usual suspects again reserving beds with towels and then going off for hours stay here as well. The size of the pool area does not support a hotel of this size. Did not see any management of sun bed pirates by the staff. After a day of sightseeing in 34 degrees to jump into a pool albeit without a sun bed to dry of on was an absolute joy and very much welcome. Would I stay here again? Yes I think I would.
Short break at Palma Marina. Stayed in a Junior Level Suite with views overlooking the Marina which had two terraces with slightly different views of the Marina and Cathedral. The room had very efficient aircon which was much needed as temperatures were 37+ degrees plus very high humidity. Bed was very comfortable. Shower very powerful. Room very clean – thank you Maria (housekeeping) for your service and friendly smile.
The Level - There is a separate lounge with complimentary soft drinks, beer and wine throughout the day. Spirits are served between 5pm and 7pm. Breakfast can be taken here but for a more extensive range, the main restaurant has a lot more. The Level reception staff were good with a special ‘thank you’ to Lorena for everything she helped us with including booking and printing off tickets for the Hop on/Hop off sightseeing bus. If you want to see Palma, this bus is the one to take. The bus stop is located on the opposite side of the road, turning right as you come out of the hotel and walk approximately 200metres up the road. Flag the bus down (it’s an open top red double decker – you can’t miss it).
Note: if you want a taxi and there isn’t one outside the hotel, give the reception your room number and they will call one for you. They arrive very quickly and the taxi driver will ask for your room number. From hotel to central Palma costs approximately €7 plus tip.
We stayed half-board. Meals are taken in the Moss Restaurant off a separate menu to the a-la-carte. Ask for the half-board menu. The food is very good although somewhat limited. Service was very good – thank you Coni and Hanan. This restaurant is open from midday to late evening and on half-board you can decide whether to take lunch or dinner. We took a late lunch and took advantage of the tapas in the evening in the Level lounge. To note: the glass door frontage of the restaurant was open most days. With 37+ degrees of heat outside, high humidity and no aircon, this did make eating uncomfortable for us although this could be considered subjective.
Hotel location is good. Bus stops outside take you to the Marina and to the city centre. It is also about 20 minutes from the airport in a taxi. There is also a large shopping centre nearby which is walkable but, in the heat, we took a taxi with cost approximately €6 and was worth it. The hotel has a pool which looked busy although we did not use it (too hot!). To note: In the reception area, be aware there are several steps which might catch you out but there are ramps.
All the staff at this hotel are extremely friendly and helpful – thank you Elena and a special ‘thank you’ to Violeta for your courtesy and professionalism.
Bad location away from the city center you have to take bus 4 and it takes 15-20 min Walking is long and you can’t do it in the summer Rooms and hotel smells bad You have partial view to the marina It is not worth it I will not come back again Sketchy area as well Not safe
