The hotel is on the Palma de Mallorca seafront, near the old town. Major sites such as the Pueblo Español congress centre, the Auditorium, the Royal Yachting Club RCNP or the famous Cathedral are within walking distance. The airport is at 18 km from the hotel. The 171 rooms are bright and airy, filled with natural light; many of them offer spectacular panoramic views over the bay, the Cathedral, the marina with its countless yachts and the promenade. Guest can admire the stunning sunset over the bay while sip on an original cocktail from a terrace bar or enjoy the sun by the pool side while lying on a sunbed. Take the opportunity to have dinner in the restaurant with a menu based on ingredients deeply rooted in tradition and touches of creativity. The moonlight and soft candlelight create an intimate and romantic atmosphere.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
We booked The Victoria primarily for the location, walking distance to Palma City centre. On arrival we were not disappointed. All what you expect from a 5 star hotel and more. Exceptional staff all very helpful. We look forward to our return
The Grand Meliá Victoria has some genuinely stunning elements, but overall we felt it fell short of the 5-star experience we were expecting.
The positives first: the lobby is beautiful, the pool area is lovely, breakfast was excellent, and the staff were warm, helpful and a real credit to the hotel. The marina views are absolutely stunning.
However, there were several things that really let the experience down. The corridors leading to our room were very tired, with carpets that were heavily stained and grubby looking. First impressions matter, and this immediately didn’t feel like 5-star quality.
We had originally booked a church view room, but on arrival felt it didn’t meet expectations, so asked about moving. We were offered an alternative for an additional £150 for 4 nights, but whilst the room itself was nicer, the balcony overlooked building works, so we declined. We then chose to upgrade for an extra £300 to a marina view room.
That said, the room itself still didn’t quite feel 5-star. The drawer housing the tea and coffee facilities was broken and collapsed every time it was opened. We reported this on day one, but it was never fixed during our 4-night stay. The door stopper had also come away completely, leaving a nail sticking up from the floor, and we actually ended up reattaching it ourselves. The view looking out from our balcony was amazing and definitely 5 star worthy.
None of these things ruined our trip, and we did enjoy our stay, but for the price point and 5-star branding, the maintenance and room standards simply didn’t match expectations.
If you book this hotel thinking of it as a very nice 4-star with fabulous staff, excellent breakfast, and a spectacular marina location, you’ll likely have a much better expectation of the experience.
I wouldn’t consider this a 5-star hotel. The pool area was very noisy due to ongoing work, with constant banging from workmen, and the hotel’s location next to a main road meant traffic noise was also quite disruptive. The food was lovely overall, although the breakfast price per person felt quite high for what was on offer. Most of the staff were very welcoming and friendly; however, the management did not reflect the same level of hospitality. I therefore would not stay at this hotel again.
Many thanks to Sarah and the rest of the Guest Relations team for making our stay extra special. Love the hotel and its location. Very comfortable beds and pillows. We hope to be back soon. Hasta pronto!
This is the second time we have been to this hotel, albeit the first time 10 years ago. The first time we loved it and the second time again it was just as lovely. It has been refurbished since, fabulous terrace overlooking the marina and the new pool layout is great. This time we went red level and would do so again. It is only a 20 min stroll along the promenade into the main centre and there is a new upgraded cycle route alongside. The service at this hotel though is genuine and all staff are so very friendly and helpful. Restaurant food really tasty. We will certainly return and if you do read any less positive reviews you should really take them with a pinch of salt.
