Palma Nova

The Tropico Playa Hotel offers everything you need to enjoy an all-inclusive stay in a magical location: on the seafront of Palmanova beach, one of the most popular areas on the island. This resort is only a 15 minutes drive from Palma city centre and is characterised by its close proximity to three fantastic white-sand beaches that boast crystal-clear water: Palmanova, Son Matias and Magaluf, making this hotel perfect for both beach and cultural getaways. Trust the guarantee that comes from the high percentage of guests who come back to visit us year after year, thanks to the great services we offer at the Tropico Playa Hotel, in addition to the extra personal touch from the Gran Isla Hotels Group.

Lovely hotel - would definitely return

Just back from a lovely week in Palma Nova. 4 women in our 60’s. We wanted a pool & beach holiday but with access to Palma & other activities - fun but not ‘Brits abroad’ type holiday. The Palia Tropica Playa hotel was perfect as the location was busy enough with good quality bars & restaurants plus cheaper family choices if that’s your preference plus the gorgeous beaches and fast access to Palma city by taxi (around €25 each way) or bus. Great Wednesday market in Andratx 8am-1pm. The hotel was very clean, modern & airy, staff friendly (we loved entertainment lady Monica - such a ray of sunshine) . The all-inclusive food was fab - it changed every day and we always found something we enjoyed, omelettes made to order at breakfast, different themed food styles, tender carved meat or salmon plus pizza and also snacks and burgers at the pool bar - we certainly didn’t go hungry! drinks were local but drinkable (we stuck to sangria adjusted to our liking, g&t and beer) and the pool bar staff were so helpful & accommodating. All the staff were very friendly & I can’t fault them. No fight for sunbeds or early rush as the pool doesn’t open until 10 and end Aug/early Sept we always got 4 sunbeds together, even turning up at lunchtime sometimes. Didn’t even make it to the adults only rooftop pool as the main pool was relaxed and not crazy with kids. The only faults were not much clothes storage space, only one big bottle of water given on day 1 in the bedrooms (but refills available from around hotel) and the coffee machines in the restaurant were only switched on in the morning (but coffee available from the bar throughout the day). Also, I’d suggest the lounge bar needed softening with some sofas and comfort and wall art to improve acoustics as it was noisy and echoey and lacked atmosphere. The outside bar area was lovely though. All in all, we were very happy and all of us would return to this hotel.

Avoid At All Costs

I stayed at this hotel from 26/08/2026-02/09/2026 and wow I will not be returning ever, when we first arrived at around 2:30pm our first impressions was this is absolutely stunning from the outside we entered reception and it had the most amazing smell and looked so clean fresh and modern,we got checked in which took less then 5 minutes we paid 31 euro for the safe for 7 days and 46.80 for tourist tax which we had already paid in the travel agent’s but anyways. We stayed in took 328 which was located in building 2 but to get up there we had to walk up 15 steps with our cases which none us us could manage carrying our cases up them but luckily some man helped us and took our cases up the stairs from reception to building 2 from there there was a lift what was able to take us up to the floors we stayed on and had rooms on we were on floor 3 at the very end still the lift is supposed to fit 5 people in it just managed to fit 1 case in and 1 person so we had to take it in turns going up in the lift we walked the corridor to our room which on first impressions was clean and modern and smelt clean. The room was extremely small 6 hangers was all that was in the wardrobe they even had the fridge and the safe in the wardrobe which ultimately left us no storage,we had one beside table on each side of the bed with one small thing draw that you could fit nothing in,so we lived out of suitcase for most of the holiday, the beds were firm the pillows was rock solid and we just say managed to get a couple of hours sleep every night and neither of us were able to get comfortable, the balcony was extremely small It had a table and two Chairs and a clothing rail the air-con fan was also on the floor of the balcony you could not fit 2 people on you only could just say fit one if you wanted to walk on the balcony then you had to shuffle on the side the it has absolutely no space whatsoever, the gap beteeen the bed and the table at the end was no more then 4 inches and again had to shuffle past it,the bedroom was spacious but was not clean there was feces on the toilet the floor and floor was also dirty the shower was nice and powerful but the shower floor was also dirty the mirror in the bathroom was nice and big with a light on what was a nice touch the shower gel ect was like water it had clearly been watered down and stunk this was definitely not 4 star worthy products the towels were old and thin and has a foisty smell to them but were changed everyday, the floor in the room was dirty and was being cleaned with dirty water the tea and coffee in the room was not even being replaced we were having to go down to the pool bar or restaurant and take some tea bags if not we were having to buy them but the tea in the hotel tasted like perfume, the food was well inedible the meat was dry chewy and still had blood on it or was pink still the selection of food was also definitely not 4 star the dining hall was also not 4 star standard the tables and place mats were dirty the cutlery was marked and had not been washed properly the plates also not cleaned the napkins were paper thin to,on a night the entertainment was practically non existent and there was never no more then 10 people watching it we went out on a night and made friends for life and some nights we had to eat out, breakfast was okay as you could just have toast, fruit, yogurt, the pool was only open 10:00am-6:00pm but that was pretty much fine, the pool bar was open to 11:00pm from what we had been told as we were never back in the hotel till 1:00am Onwards but they were extremely short staffed they had the staff working on the pool bar and cleaning and preparing for the next day because of this, the outside area was very rarely swept or kept tidy to the point pigeons and little birds were coming and basically Clearing up food Ect what other people had left people were not tidying up after themselves either nor was the staff even bothering to collect plates cups or anything. Definitely not 4 start extremely disappointing and will not be returning to this hotel.Palmanova and Magaluf on the other hand most definitely family has been coming here since the 80’s alongside many other destinations all over the world and this is definitely the worst one ! Wouldn’t house a stray cat in there!

2nd Visit

This was our 2nd visit to this lovely hotel. Great location across the road from the beach and handly placed for bars & restraunts. Staff welcoming, the food was excellent, rooms were clean and tidy with AC. Pool area was very clean and the bar staff were very friendly. This hotel is a quiet hotel, probably less suitable for those with young families or families looking for entertainment.

DO NOT COME HERE!!

Came into the hotel for a 7 day stay, but honestly cannot name a good thing about it. First of all, we came into our room to just be invited to a constant banging above us, constantly every night. We spoke to reception over 5 times and did nothing, they just said to come back the next day. Since they were not able to do anything, we went up ourselves because we were even struggling to sleep at night, my two kids not being able to sleep till 3-4am which ruined the day ahead and spoiled our perfect holiday. Secondly, the pool is not big enough, I was reading a book until I get a hard ball in the face, there is no where in the pool to be peaceful. Residents were taking up full lengths of the pool since the pool was tiny, leaving cramped spacing. Third, there are loads of insects which I know the hotel can’t help but there was around 100 wasps swarming the drinks and food, allowing children to be stung, so basically, you have to risk your life to get a drink and after that, there still pestering your drink and flying round while your on the sunbeds. So be prepared to be either dehydrated or stung. Not only that but at dinner, flys are swarming everything, the salad, the cakes and main food, honestly disgusting! Lastly, to top it off, we got a leak, flooding our hotel room. We still didn’t get moved after all that.. Also, everything is not all inclusive.
