What a fabulous stay. Gorgeous hotel matched by the best staff. From the smooth check-in, welcome drink and warm welcome the service never faltered and remained consistent. The place is spotlessly clean. Lovely gardens, nice little private beach and 15 min walk to palma nova making it a perfect location for some peace and quiet but close enough if you seek something lively. My only gripe and this is a personal slight is I would prefer half board to be buffet style rather than a la carte. I’m rather fussy and although I still had a try at the food would prefer a basic option should the menu not be of liking. I would add that what I did have was ok. All in all, the best week and would definitely return.
The beds by the pool where very uncomfortable and I found they just made my back problem worse, the hotel itself is in a nice quiet location and about a 15 minute walk from palma nova, personally I felt a few small improvements by the hotel could have made such a difference to our overall experience, I asked for a paper cup at breakfast to go and sit at the outside terrace area and was told I was not allowed to take it away? I explained I was not taking it away I was just going to sit outside but was still told no, others where drinking out of glasses around the pool and I saw people coming and going with paper cups all day so I’m not sure why sitting on the terrace by the top wall with a coffee in a paper cup was such a big deal, on the same day there was a Pooh at the bottom of the pool, the life guard discreetly used his fishing net to scrape it from the floor of the pool and then just sat down again as if nothing had happened, that was it for me put me off the pool all together! My husband was told to put his shirt on at the outside seating area yet the table next to us had a topless guy sitting there having a drink and it was ok? I also just sat and waited and waited to be served to get a drink so I went to the bar myself and ordered a drink and then returned to the bar to pay for the drink so I do feel the service could have been better, staff where polite enough but seems they where maybe understaffed at a busy time of year? It was also near impossible to get an extra towel or even change a wet towel at the pool area, the life guard is very strict and I have never known it to be like this in a 4 star superior hotel. I would not return to this hotel.
We are a couple in our very early 60's and just arrived home from an excellent stay at the Son Caliu Spa Oasis. If you looking for a quiet & peaceful stay in Palma Nova then this is where to go. Its roughly a 15min stroll to the beach, bars & restaurants, ideal when your not in a hurry on your hols. On arrival we were greeted by the very helpful reception staff, happy to help with any enquiries we had during our stay. Our room was spotless on arrival and cleaned everyday by the hardworking cleaning staff. Mini-bar was restocked every day if need be. Very comfy beds and air conditioning was a godsend as it was very very warm during our stay. No noise from street outside hotel at night so no problem sleeping. The Hotel has a very relaxed atmosphere, we stayed on a B&B basis and all I can say is that the breakfast sets you up for the day. Excellent choices to meet your needs, freshly made omelettes, eggs and bacon along with tons of fresh fruit and pastries means you will not go hungry. The staff in the restaurant are brilliant, cant do enough for you, always have a smile on their face. We always ate out in the resort at night but hotel offers a fine dining experience for guests at night and by all accounts from people we got speaking too they absolutely loved it. The pool area is cleaned everyday and is a great area to enjoy your day. No rush for sunbeds in the morning, plenty available at any time of the day. Lots of natural shade from the trees and plenty of umbrellas to protect you from the very hot sun. Also a wonderful outlook from the pool out to the bay, small beach area to utilise if you want, some massive yachts paid a visit. We used the pool bar for drinks and snacks during the day, charging it to our room, special mention to the woman who works in the pool bar, her name has left me. She was delightful and charming, always cheerie and happy. Gave our room number once and she remembered it for the duration of our stay, how she did that I will never know. You can change your towels at the pool, next to pool bar, as many times as you like and there is no charge for this. Access to the pool caters for all, you have steps to walk into pool at one end and also there is a chair lift for anyone with mobility issues. You can also use the spa facilities anytime during the day, at least check it out when your there. Overall we cant fault the hotel in any way, from when we arrived till the moment we left we enjoyed every minute, will definitely return in the near future.
Fantastic location, let down by poor maintenance and bizarre drink prices
We’ve been coming here for years and genuinely love this hotel, which is why it's such a shame to see it slipping.
The location is brilliant—a handy 10-minute walk to Palmanova or 20 minutes to Puerto Portals.
Breakfast and view SUPERB!
Unfortunately, the apartments and outdoor areas are looking tired. During our stay, we spotted mould on the bathroom ceiling, peeling paint on the patio chairs, and mouldy sun umbrellas.
More concerningly, the garden lights kept falling over, leaving electrical cables exposed.
On top of that, the bar prices simply don't match the quality. It's hard to justify paying €3.80 for a bottled beer versus a staggering €5.20 for a Pepsi Max.
But overall a lovely place which I would 100% recommend.
The bottom line : Management really needs to invest in some basic maintenance and safety fixes to bring the property back up to standard and justify the rates they're charging.
Been coming here 10 superb location just out of everything but 5 mins in a taxi with own beach staff lovely always a quiet respectable hotel
