This hotel was a lovely stay, you really couldn't fault the property itself. The staff were amazingly friendly, the atmosphere was great, and the rooms were beautiful with perfect views. The cleanliness was also exceptional. Location wise, it's incredibly close to great restaurants, bars, and nightlife if you want it. Having read reviews beforehand about the noise level, this really wasn't an issue for us, it was quiet and we couldn't hear much from the streets. The only issue we had was with security. On our first night, the guard asked for our room number, then proceeded to follow us all the way to the lift. As two young girls, it felt incredibly uncomfortable when he insisted he 'needed to get to the second floor' and tried to squeeze into the lift with us. No other night did we see him move from the front entrance or reception, making it bizarre and suspicious that he suddenly needed to go to the second floor right then. For the rest of our stay, he made it very obvious that he didn't like us, making us feel incredibly unwelcome and unsafe.
We had five wonderful days at this hotel. Free upgrade to sea view room. Breakfast was amazing. Choice varied. Hotel was spotless. Our room was very modern and well maintained. Cleaned everyday. The pool area is really nice and we had no problems getting sun loungers. Excellent position right next to the beautiful beach. So many great restaurants. Lively resort but that suited us fine and we still slept well every night.
We stayed at the Fergus Tobago Hotel for five nights in July with three friends and had a very enjoyable stay overall. Before we arrived, Claudia from Guest Relations was incredibly helpful and kindly arranged a complimentary upgrade to a sea view room, which was a lovely surprise and very much appreciated. On arrival, we received a warm welcome along with a complimentary welcome drink. A porter took our luggage to our room, making check-in smooth and stress-free. We stayed on the first floor. Although the room was quite compact, it was spotlessly clean and well presented. The air conditioning worked very well, but it's important to make sure the balcony door is fully closed, otherwise it won't operate properly. The room included a free safe, kettle, coffee machine and a fridge, although the fridge wasn't particularly cold. Wardrobe space was quite limited, especially for hanging dresses or full-length trousers. Fresh towels were provided daily, and dressing gowns and slippers were a nice touch. A complimentary bottle of water was also provided on arrival. Pool towels are available by exchanging the towel cards provided by the hotel. There's also a convenient shop directly opposite the hotel for purchasing drinks, snacks and other essentials. The bathroom appeared to be designed as an accessible room, with a walk-in shower. Unfortunately, there was no shower screen, so water flooded across the bathroom floor every time the shower was used. This creates a potential slip hazard and could eventually damage the flooring. We found ourselves having to use towels to mop up the excess water after every shower. Toiletries, including hand wash, were provided, and the housekeeping team did an excellent job of keeping the room clean throughout our stay. The only other downside was the noise from the beach. During the early hours, groups of young people were partying on the beach, and on most mornings this woke me at around 5:00 am. If you're a light sleeper, this is something to be aware of. Breakfast is served from 7:30 am and offers an excellent buffet selection with plenty of choice. While there wasn't any cava available, the freshly made omelettes were outstanding and definitely worth trying. On the Sunday morning there was a pianist playing during breakfast, which sounded like a lovely touch. Unfortunately, we missed it as we had already eaten around 8:00 am. It would be helpful if the hotel advertised the performance times so more guests could enjoy the entertainment.
The pool area is spacious, with plenty of comfortable sun loungers and parasols. However, if you want a lounger, you'll need to be up early as they are usually all taken by around 10:00am. There are notices up saying you cannot reserve sun beds however people did and I never saw the pool man takes any towels off. The pool itself is quite cold, but with the very hot temperatures during our stay, it was actually very refreshing. The pool service was excellent. The staff were friendly, attentive and always happy to bring drinks and food directly to your sunbed. A special mention goes to Carol, who was particularly welcoming and provided outstanding service throughout our stay. The pool bar area is beautifully designed, with comfortable seating and a spotless environment. The menu offers a wide variety of food and drinks, and everything we tried was of a very good standard. One negative was the occasional smell of sewage around the pool area. I mentioned this to the hotel, and they explained it was coming from a pipe outside the hotel grounds. While this may not be the hotel's fault, it did affect the overall guest experience at times, and I hope management continue to work with the relevant authorities to resolve the issue. There are Bali beds available around the main pool, but these must be reserved and cost €50 per day. In my opinion, they are not particularly good value. There is also a small rooftop pool with additional Bali beds costing €75 per day. Unfortunately, there are no complimentary sun loungers on the rooftop. However, it is a lovely place to visit in the evening for a drink, as the views are absolutely stunning, although seating is quite limited. During our five-night stay, there was very little evening entertainment. For a five-star hotel, I would have expected some form of live music or entertainment every evening. Access to the beach is through the hotel's rear entrance using your room key, and it's only a two-minute walk away. You do need to cross a fairly busy road, so take care. The beach itself is beautiful, with crystal-clear, calm water that was perfect for swimming. We didn't hire sunbeds, but they were available for around €20 for two beds and a parasol. There are several excellent restaurants directly opposite the hotel, and I would definitely recommend booking in advance as they become very busy in the evenings. Dining out in Palma Nova is not cheap, but the quality of the food was consistently excellent. The promenade is flat, clean and ideal for a leisurely walk. I regularly walked around 2.5 miles along the seafront, and you can also stroll into Magaluf in around 10–15 minutes, making it a great location for exploring the local area.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the hotel was exceptionally clean, and the location is excellent. With a few small improvements—particularly the shower design and better management of early morning beach noise/chairs—this would be an outstanding hotel.
Would I return my answer is no for theses reasons The smell around the pool Lack of entertainment in the hotel Lack of availability for sun beds around the pool if you do not get up early Palma Nova is not for me far to busy it’s more for party people.
Recommended restaurants Mira Palma nova The Blue Bar Both have amazing views
We stayed here for a week and overall had a good holiday. The reception staff were excellent throughout our stay- friendly, welcoming and always happy to help. The cleaners also did a great job every day, and the hotel itself was generally very clean and nicely decorated.
There were a few inconveniences during our stay. One day our towels weren’t replaced, leaving us without any to use (this was only a mistake im sure!)
The biggest disappointment was the restaurant service towards the weekend. Earlier in our stay, the staff were fantastic and we had no complaints. However, over the weekend the service noticeably declined, and we experienced several issues with our meals, as did other guests around us. On one occasion, a waiter didn’t seem to understand the menu, so we were served a wrap instead of the noodles we had ordered. When the correct noodles eventually arrived, they were rock hard, seemingly because they had been rushed out, which was disappointing given the prices being charged. Even when our orders were correct, our drinks arrived around 45 minutes before the food, which wasn’t ideal. On another occasion, we ordered two portions of fries but were only given one. When we queried it, the waiter told us that two portions had been combined into one bowl. Having ordered the fries previously, it was clear this was only a single portion. Despite these issues, whenever everything was prepared correctly, the food itself was lovely.
We also spotted a few cockroaches in the hallway near our room, although this may be normal in the area
Something to note is that the main pool closes quite early at 7pm
We had paid extra for a sea view room, but unfortunately our view was almost completely obstructed by a tree, so we couldn’t actually see the sea. We ended up paying over £100 to upgrade to a better room, and the view from there was excellent. - The balcony door in the room feels a bit delicate and not soundproof at all
The rooms are quite small with very little storage space. The shower and toilet also aren’t very private, which may not suit everyone. On the positive side, the beds were extremely comfortable, the air conditioning worked brilliantly, and housekeeping kept the room spotless every day.
We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis, and breakfast was one of the highlights. There was a great variety of food with plenty of choice for everyone.
We personally preferred spending our time at the nearby beach rather than the pool. The beach is only a short walk away. Around the pool we occasionally experienced some uncomfortable behaviour from other guests, including people moving parasols that were already being used and judgy looks from some older women!!
The hotel only has a couple of lifts, so they can become quite busy, especially around breakfast and dinner times.
We paid for dinner at the buffet one night- which was around £30pp! - Not worth it in our opinion, the food is quite complex and not loads of vegetarian options- The craziest part is that there are no drinks included!! Not even water- We would definitely not recommend paying separately for this. (especially when the reception/gym/breakfast provides drinks- it seems silly to not do the same in the evening!)
The location is definitely one of the hotel’s biggest strengths, right on the beach and only around a five-minute walk from the Magaluf Strip, making it ideal for exploring the area.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but I was surprised by the 5-star rating. While the location, breakfast, comfortable beds and friendly staff were excellent, there were enough issues that I don’t personally feel it quite reaches a true 5-star standard. This hotel seems to prioritise making money and a front rather than quality.
It’s a lovely area, but we would choose a different hotel if we returned.
It’s was our second visit on Fergus Style Tobago , all is very good, amazing staff , fresh food, very good service and nice atmosphere. We really enjoyed our visit and we strongly recommend !!
