HSM Don Juan

This hotel was amazing inside and out. The pool was amazing and the variety of lounge chairs were great for us. The rooms were tidy, beds comfy and the fan on the ceiling made the room very cool. The cleaners were thorough as well as kind and funny. All staff including bar was so kind and friendly. The breakfast was amazing and lasted until lunchtime. An all round beautiful experience would recommend it to anyone. The refurbishments are beautiful. Great location next to many other sociable hotels and still close to bars and strips and beach.

We booked four nights at Tangerine by Honne at a special newly reopened rate. We had a room with a balcony over the street (all rooms have balconies), cheaper and quieter than pool rooms. It was a fantastic stay in many ways. Rooms are obviously newly done. The towels and sheets seemed straight out of the package.

Highlights: -Small but charming pool area; we wasted two whole days lying around. Live dj with upbeat chill tunes, not too loud, maintained the right mood. -Unlimited brunch is just the best. You can have breakfast, go swimming, walk down to the beach, and get another round of lunch or snacks. Fresh juice, excellent changing hot dishes from eggs and pancakes to burgers and sauteed fish, yogurt, pastries, sliced meats like jamon iberico and cheeses, lots of fresh fruit and olives. -Location is ~5 minutes walk to a lovely beach and boardwalk. The bus stop to Palma and the airport is 1 block away, so we didn't bother renting a car. There's a small parking lot, but looked like there's plenty of street parking. The buses are great, as long as you are only going to Palma (don't miss the Gothic cathedral with Gaudi-directed restoration) or the airport.

Minor issues: -Tap water doesn't taste great, and while there's filtered fruit water out at breakfast, after 1:30 you either need to buy some or go shopping. It was very hot, and the hotel should just put out a water cooler in the lobby and encourage people to refill. They even sell reusable water bottles. Rooms do have fridges, so we bought a few liters. -The pool is only open 10 to 6 and the bar from 12? to 7. After that, there's a machine. It was light till 9:30 pm and we'd have loved to have a drink or snack in the huge lobby or sitting outside. They don't need to keep the pool open till midnight but 9 to 9? 9 to 8 pm would be more reasonable. -On the last day we were there, a bunch of people were smoking by the pool,and it became apparent they had no real policy, except putting out ashtrays. This would be a serious problem if not addressed. -Pool towels have a 20 euro each deposit. They are very nice towels. Seems like this should just be part of check in, with deposit taken then, rather than a separate procedure.

We were a group with our teenage children (aged 16-18) and we stayed for 3 nights. We arrived at hotel about 11am and asked about the free early check-in (see photo) but there was no availability so we went for a walk and came back at 2pm when 1 of the 3 rooms were ready and the others were ready late at 3ish. Check in was okay and the young girl and man were efficient and friendly. Pool view rooms were very nice and cleaned daily, air con was fab! The brunch was really good and we loved the salad selection, choice of bread, burgers, fries etc. The DJ played nice chilled house music by the pool. The 3 men on the bar were so good! Especially our Charlie. The bar closed at 7pm though which was a bit early, and nowhere to buy food from in the hotel after brunch finished at 1:30, but we got drinks from the shop for our fridge. Rating is hard because it deserves 5 green bubbles for some things but then the customer service deserves 1. So we gave it 3 (thanks to bar staff, room cleaners and food). Day before check out, we asked reception if we could have a late check out and they said yes all 3 rooms were available. For 60 euros each. I said but on the website it has "free early check in and free late check out". Rebecca on reception said she didn't know about this and she looked on the website and saw it. Then she said she would have to speak to the manager. Came back to us and said we can only have 1 room free of charge. We said but you said all 3 were available. She said but your 3 rooms are on one booking. I said where does it say this, and she replied in the Terms and Conditions. Now she didn't know about this free late check out 10 minutes ago and now she's talking Terms and conditions. Her attitude was not good at all. I went to look on the website and checked my email confirmation and of course, they were not there! We went back to reception to ask them for the T's and C's but of course they could not find them. I asked for Rebecca or the manager and of course they were not there! As a goodwill gesture, the management should have let us have all 3 rooms as they were available, and the hotel was half empty. As for us only being able to have 1 room as all rooms were on one booking, what would have happened if someone had booked 10 rooms for 20 people? How are 6 people all supposed to get showered and changed in one room?! This left us angry and was a poor end to a fab holiday. We booked this hotel with free early check in and free late check out in mind (as promised on website) and we didn't get either. Very poor. We are not interested in any reply either on here from customer services as you didn't address any issues on the previous review from someone else so don't bother!
