Excellent hotel and holiday

It’s our last full day at Sa Marina and we’ve had a brilliant time. Family with two boys age 11 and 9. Our boys have loved it - the football pitch brings everyone together, they’ve made lots of friends, had some freedom and lots of fun in the pool. Jumping in, on donut rings, sink sticks and sensible catch in the pool when it’s less busy. No complaints from lifeguard, they do a great job and are chill, very relaxing, large, cleaning pools and lots of sun beds, even at 11am. What a blessing!

The pool bar serves up lovely drinks and food, good quality and friendly staff. Club sandwich is particularly naughty - must try!

Main reception are friendly and helpful. Always super cold aircon there. Coolest aircon in the hotel!

Rooms - we changed rooms on arrival. Initial ground floor and on a corner, room felt a bit musty. Moved to top floor main building following morning. Much better - room just felt fresher. They’re very clean, good shower, spacious. Could do with modernisation and a TV in the bedroom. Rooms are comfortable, not luxurious. But as expected. We asked for toppers for the sofa beds after night two, it’s basic for the kids otherwise. Really toppers should be added for arrival to ensure comfort. It’s the sofa with a sheet otherwise.

Evenings we didn’t stay in the hotel - headed out to the town for dinner or Marina. Lots of places to eat. Marina lovely, more upmarket. Family of 4 we were paying 300euros for dinner with drinks. We did eat in the nice places but felt pricy really.

Can Thromp in the town was great - traditional Spanish food at more reasonable prices. Makio in the town was excellent and more reasonable.

We hired a car for a couple of days, did caves of drach, few calas and went to Aqua Land - we loved it. Really good slides and not too busy. We upgraded to silver fast track for ease.

We’ve had a brilliant holidays, everything just works here. Don’t be put off by any reviews saying the hotel stops kids enjoying themselves/kids get bored. It’s simply not the case. We’d return another year for sure.

repeat visit to cala dor and first time to Sa Marina

Returned today from a 10 day break to Sa Marina, blooming boiling day and night.. brilliant however very humid take a fan.

Arrived early and after a quick check in got straight into our rooms, we had a Garden room which was big enough for me the Mrs and our 18yo and 14yo, even though it was 1 bedroom with 2 sofa beds in living area still lots of room. Keys for rooms are wristbands which we all got one which was really good, also the free safe was a positive.

Balconies nice and spacious however if you cant dry your towels on them (hotel rule) please give more areas to hang them to dry....

Rooms really clean and had everything you need for self catering, however bathrooms notably showers need an update as they are worn. The complex again is really clean and well maintained, rooms cleaned daily with fresh towels etc.

All staff really friendly and nice.

Water dispensers throughout which was great, restaurant on site and gym were good.

The overall feel is relaxed and would suggest its more aimed at couples and older teens, rather than younger children.

Pool areas are a problem with rules changing on a regular basis, the pools are small for the amount of guests and it can be quite tight and noisy and whilst the hotel feel is relaxed around the pool it isnt, frustrating that 1 day people can play with balls (not us) and next day no balls allowed etc.... just put a big sign up no balls or inflatables, pools are too small. Life guards try there best to enforce the non reserving of sun bed but I felt sorry for them as when they removed towels they got some abuse.

After a couple of days we ended up starting to use the large padded loungers and beds in the garden area which were much more relaxing.

Location is great two small supermarkets straight outside and the large supermarket 5 min walk away, just up from the main square with all the restaurants and 10mins to marina which was really nice for restaurants and bars, we booked jet ski there which was brilliant. 10 mins to beach

Prices have went up a little but for 150 euros you can get 4 steaks and a bottle of wine and cokes for the kids, can definitely eat cheaper if needed.

Unfortunately on our last night at the hotel, on returning from the Marina at about 9pm my 14yo son asked to run ahead as he needed the toilet, we watch him jog up towards the hotel while we strolled up only hundred meters or so behind him, however when I looked up again I noticed that a group of teens were surrounding him and as he turned into the hotel they started running at him, fortunately I managed to catchup to them and stop the situation and as they scattered the security turned up. My wife and daughter when they got there had a bit verbal abuse aswell which wasn't nice.

Whilst I do think Cala Dor is safer than other resorts I would just keep an eye on teens if you have them. The hotel has an open feel and perhaps security on both entrances to the hotel would be good.

All in all a lovely holiday except the last night but that is not the hotels fault.

As good as ever!

My partner and I stayed at the Sa Marina for a week via Jet2 holidays. We have stayed here before in 2022 and had such a brilliant time we wanted to visit there again. I emailed the hotel prior to our arrival to ask if it was possible to have a quiet room on the top floor of our one bedroom garden view room. The hotel replied they would try their best but could not guarantee it. We were allocated room 3310 and it was exactly what we hoped for. The rooms in the garden block 3 are all extremely well soundproofed and you literally cannot hear your neighbours or noise outside your room. The beds were very comfortable as were the pillows. The kitchen well equipped, the fridge seemed fairly new and the air conditioning quiet and efficient. It was extremely hot the week we stayed and although the thermostat cannot be set lower than 22 degrees, it kept the rooms at a very comfortable temperature both day and night. Since our last stay, they have cleared space in the gardens to accommodate very comfortable loungers and Bali beds and we used these every day. The hotel was full to capacity and there were many families staying (w/c 13th July) and this made the pool sun beds very popular but we could always find a vacant sun bed in the garden area. The only problem with this area was that the ground covering was small stones and it was very uncomfortable to walk on it with bare feet. The staff were always friendly and helpful and a pleasure to meet, especially Ana at the pool bar who was a delight. The draught beer was always nice and cold and at €5.10 was very reasonable. We only had one meal there of a burger and fries and Thai curry and I’d compare it to what you’d get at a Wetherspoons. It was okay but we didn’t eat there again. However, they had various ice creams at €5 a tub which were delicious. We had a late flight home and checkout is 11am and the bus didn’t pick us up until 7.30pm and so we spent the day on the garden sun loungers. When we went to retrieve our cases from reception to get changed, the receptionist asked if we’d like to use the showers in the spa and gave us towels to use as well. We didn’t expect this and we were so grateful to be able to shower and get dressed before going home. Elsewhere, you might have to ask for a late check out room to do this. Overall, we were glad to see the hotel still has such high standards and can recommend it to anyone who wants a good holiday experience.

Trip in July 26.

Unbelievable location, so close to everything. Hotel is spotless, housekeeping every day and no hassles with changing towels for room or pool. Room was basic, two kids on sofa beds. Very basic cooking opportunities but we only prepared food here for breakfast and lunch and are out at the nearby restaurants every night. Only one of the electric rings worked. Loved that there was water dispenser near reception. We only ate at the snack bar once, tasty but expensive. Staff in reception were lovely. Only one thing that I didn't like to see was that the lifeguards at the pool were barely watching. They sat with one earphone in and watched their phone the entire time. From where they sat, it wasn't possible to see the whole pool and they didn't get up to walk around the pool at all. This is very different to my experience of lifeguards at other hotels where phones would not be allowed. Overall a very good experience.

Lovely hotel

This is a gorgeous clean hotel. Just back from 10nights self catering here. It was a lovely break but a couple of things to be aware of before you go/book.

Rooms: The four of us stayed in two garden view rooms next to each other (myself and my husband in one room, 16 yr old & 19yr old in the other) and they were clean, spacious, good air con and lovely balcony (not overlooked - bare this in mind when choosing your room at booking - the pool views were a bit exposed. Didn’t notice the road view ones). Small kitchen but we ate out so only used it for snacks and drinks - perfect. My only complaint of the room was that it’s not 100% sound proof but it didn’t ruin it.

Location: fab for dinner in the marina, dinner/drinks in the main area & walkable to several beaches. Bus stop outside is great for a direct bus to Palma and also the National Park - which is gorgeous. Several supermarkets close by, shops, bakeries and coffee shops places.

Pool: this is the main reason my rating isn’t a 5 - slightly disappointed with the pool in that after reading the reviews from last year that no inflatables are allowed they are indeed allowed and you sometimes can’t move for floats !!!! I think depending on when you go the sun bed situation will differ. The first half of our stay was much quieter and it was easy to get beds at any time, there was no saving going on either. The latter part of our stay that changed and people were getting down early, laying towels and reserving. Always hard to manage this for a hotel but there was literally nothing being done about it. My tip would be the pool that isn’t next to the pool bar is a more relaxed vibe, still loads of inflatables but it’s not as deep so less jumping in and out going on.

The food in the pool bar is really good and great service - possibly pricier than other places nearby but nice for a quick bite on the first day and drinks in comfy deck chairs late afternoon.

The staff were all lovely and so helpful. The hotel grounds are looked after impeccably, it’s kept beautifully.

I would really recommend.
