Visited in July 26. A very nice well maintained hotel. The hotel is very large upon check in, I was surprised to not been escorted to the room, which took quite a while to find. Rooms are very nice with large TV, Bluetooth speaker and clean and good shower room. Air con can be very temperamental although after Mtn visit was sorted. Food is served breakfast /lunch/dinner in a large restaurant with outside tables, there is a large selection of salads and other accompanying foods, however the logic of layout needs further consideration, example Toaster is circa 20 yards away from butter, or having toast for breakfast is 30 yards away from eggs. Overall food quality is good, but can get very repetitive. They also need to cut down drastically on the amount of Oil used with is quite frankly ridiculous ( and ruins taste of food, everything is so “greasy”. Pool areas are excellent with tastes for all families and plenty of sunbeds and shades. However the “key” issue is the bar service in all areas is very poor, in terms of slowness ( clearly not enough staff and very poorly organised), example :- Pepes bar where the slides are has 3 servers one usually stands talking to the other two, and service is ridiculously slow. This bar serves waffles which is popular, but why the do have a dedicated service and server for waffles and use other counter for drinks would certainly speed things up. Instead what actually happens is two servers ( yes two) stand side by side spray and load waffle press, press a button and wait 5 mins for it to finish, then walk about to get drinks, in the meantime the queue just gets longer. Surely management can see this and make changes for a more efficient method!! Similar is the large entertainment room, whereby 2 servers walk round with trays but appear to have no logical serving pattern . You have to wait at least 30 mins to get served and at least 40 mins to get your drink, and you’re lucky if it’s what you ordered!. Overall - A recommended hotel, for both families and couples, kept immaculately clean and well maintained Just needs Management to sort out service as current system does not work and grossly unstaffed for size of hotel
We've recently returned from our 5th visit but first since the refurbishment
Room - We were allocated the deluxe room we'd requested with a fabulous view of Puerto del Carmen. The room was huge, refurbished to a high standard, with a huge bed, sofa, chair, dressing table, two wardrobes and a cabinet containing a fridge plus tea/coffee. We particularly liked the new bathroom We were lucky enough to have a late checkout at no extra charge.
Restaurants - We were all inclusive and the choices at every meal in the main restaurant was outstanding, even for fussy eaters. Food was labelled with allergens and staff would assist if asked, plus specialist diets were catered for. There was a small area with a childrens buffet We didn't use the new a la carte restaurant, mainly because of the cost when we had already paid a lot of money for all inclusive.
Bars - We visited the piano bar every night, service was excellent, never waited longer than a couple of minutes for a drink. Most nights there were various singers and musicians, either in the piano bar or the reception area. We looked into the Belingo bar where there was more entertainment, it was mainly young families so didn't really appeal to us
Pool area - on previous visits there was always a shortage of sunbeds, it appears that the new kids pool area has taken a lot of pressure away from the main pools. Even if we went to the pool after lunch there were always beds available. We had a look at the new kids area, it looked great fun for the younger generations The new Milk bar seemed to be well used but after three meals per day we couldn't have managed any more food or drink. There was improvement work going on throughout the grounds, regrouting and replacing cracked floor tiles, as well as the gardens being tidied but didn't cause any problems or noise. If we hadn't seen them working we wouldn't have known they were there
Staff - Every member of staff we encountered were pleasant and polite. Service was exemplary, especially from Estella and the barman from Milan in the piano bar, and Yheng? and Isabel in the restaurant.
Room for improvement - the cost of the a la carte restaurant, offer one free visit per week for all inclusive guests, rather than all inclusive premium guests only
Would we return again? Of course, we're already pricing it for next year......
Hotel was clean and so were the rooms which had everything needed. Hotel had very good facilities with plenty of sunbeds although could have had a few more parasols. We had 2 rooms as we travelled as a group of 5, both rooms had minor problems that were rectified very quickly. Food choice and quality was very good. Location to beach, shops and restaurants was good. Now for the big BUT which is the all inclusive drinks, service at the pool bar through the day was ok with only a 5 minute wait but most of the cocktails just taste of soda water so we avoided these after a couple of days. Evening service in the Berlingo bar is awful, waiting over an hour for a drink so we complained to the customer liason person who was due to call me the nexr day to see if things improved. No phone call and the service did not improve so we went out and purchased our own drinks. This puts a black cloud over the hotel which is a shame as everything else was spot on.
I could not find anything negative about this hotel before or after I booked it, and after visiting I cannot find fault with it in any way!
We arrived just before dinner was finishing and were sent straight to the restaurant. We said to one of the gentlemen setting tables that we had just arrived, expecting him to say they were just closing, and his response was ‘welcome to the hotel’. I knew then we had picked a good place. All of the staff we encountered over the week were lovely and all very hard working.
The food was one of the best I have ever had at an AI hotel. We were spoiled for choice, and our kids especially loved the fresh pizza. I loved that the cava was served in a flute around the pool. Little touches just make it feel premium!
We based ourselves around the kids pool each day and it was brilliant for the kids to pop in and out of the kids club and the pool. I was amazed at the selection of activities they could take part in. They both made a canvas bag, painted a t shirt, made sand art amongst other things. It really was great that it was all included. The staff work really hard to ensure the kids have great fun and feel included.
Our family room was cleaned each day and was big enough for us all. Our block was very quiet at night and we all had great sleeps. The grounds and pools are all well maintained.
On our last day we had a late flight and were able to keep our room until 7pm which meant we could relax and enjoy the full day. I have had to pay for this at other hotels, so it was another great service.
I feel like a week went in too quickly and we were all very sad to leave. We are already saying we would like to return, and can see how so many others return year after year.
I would recommend this hotel to everyone. It has a lovely safe, clean, welcoming atmosphere and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
Overall, we had a really lovely holiday and would happily return, but at the moment I’d say this is a good 4* hotel. I understand the hotel is aiming for a 5* rating, but based on our experience it doesn’t quite compare to other 5 stars.
The grounds are beautiful and the pools are a lovely temperature. There was always plenty of choice in the buffet, the fresh pasta station was excellent and fresh waffles were so good. It was also nice that branded drinks were included with the all-inclusive package. The animation team were fantastic.
There were a few things that let the hotel down though. We had a standard twin room with an extra bed for our son. It would be absolutely fine for a couple, but once the third bed was in there it took up most of the space and blocked the patio doors, leaving only a tiny gap to squeeze through (see photo). Our terrace was also very small and looked straight at a wall, while my parents, who were next door as a couple, had a much larger terrace with a much nicer view.
During our stay, my son found human poo in one of the pools. The lifeguards fished it out with a net, but the pool stayed open. When we questioned the lifeguard he just said ‘it was only small, I have taken it out now’ I was surprised nothing else was done?? This made us very uneasy. They didn’t even get anyone out of the pool while they were fishing it out.
We also saw a few hygiene issues. At the smash burger station, the chef handled raw burger meat and then immediately picked up burger buns and salad with the same gloves. The chefs were flat out most of the time, maybe this could have been avoided if there were more staff?Several guests noticed and commented and the chef was abrupt and carried on. The hand sanitiser stations in the restaurant also never seemed to be working whenever I tried to use them. I previously read reviews on Facebook regarding sickness in the hotel before we arrived - maybe this isn’t helping?
The sunbed situation needs sorting. People were reserving beds before 8am and not returning until mid-afternoon, yet the towels were never removed despite the hotel’s policy.
Housekeeping was also disappointing. We arrived to dusty bedside tables, sideboards, the kettle and even the bathroom bin, with hairs still in the bathroom. The same dust was still there when we checked out a week later.
Service was a bit hit and miss. We travelled as a family of five (four adults and one child) but were always squeezed onto tables for four with an extra chair on the end. When we politely asked if we could use a table for six, we were made to feel like we were asking for something unreasonable.
Despite the negatives, we still had a great holiday. The hotel has so much going for it, but with better housekeeping, improved hygiene, more staff and stricter enforcement of the sunbed policy, it could easily live up to a 5 star rating.
