Very disappointing – hotel and TUI customer service We recently stayed at Lanzarote Village with TUI as a family across four separate bookings. Unfortunately, the experience fell well below the standard we expected from a TUI 4-star holiday. The hotel itself was disappointing, particularly the attitude of some staff and the significant differences in how all-inclusive and half-board guests appeared to be treated. My wife was particularly upset by the way Miguel, who works behind the bar, spoke to and treated her. It wasn't necessarily what he said, but his tone, manner and the way he looked at her made her feel belittled and uncomfortable. His attitude had been noticeable throughout our stay. We also noticed differences between all-inclusive and half-board guests at the pool bar. For example, an all-inclusive guest ordering pizza would receive a single slice and have to collect it from the bar, whereas half-board guests were given a whole pizza which was brought to their table. We also noticed differences with drinks, including cup sizes and bottled water. There were also basic housekeeping issues, including coffee not being replaced and cups not being cleaned. However, the customer service from TUI has been just as disappointing as the hotel. We made genuine attempts to raise our concerns while we were still on holiday because we wanted the problems dealt with rather than simply complaining after returning home. We were advised to speak to the TUI representative, but we were unable to properly discuss everything with him and felt that our concerns were dismissed. We also received no meaningful follow-up from the hotel manager despite raising our concerns. What is particularly frustrating is that we have now discovered that our original TUI complaint was closed on 11 August without us being told, despite us continuing to raise further complaints and being specifically assured that the additional information would be added to our existing case. We have now returned home and have had to go through the post-holiday complaints process because the issues weren't dealt with properly while we were there. Even trying to submit the post-holiday complaint has been difficult, as the TUI system initially said there was no booking. We are not normally people who complain. We paid a significant amount of money for this holiday and simply expected the standard of service advertised. Instead, we have spent a considerable amount of time trying to get our concerns listened to, both in resort and after returning home. We were travelling as a family across four bookings and unfortunately the wider family were also disappointed with their experience. For us, the biggest issue isn't that one or two things went wrong — it's the way the complaints have been handled and the lack of customer service from TUI when we have tried to get them resolved. We are currently awaiting a response to our formal complaint. Based on this experience, we will certainly think very carefully about whether we choose TUI for our future family holidays. Lanzarote itself was lovely and we enjoyed being together as a family, but the hotel and particularly the customer service from TUI did not live up to the standard we expected.
We’ve just returned from two wonderful weeks at Hotel Lanzarote Village, and I really wanted to leave a review because of how special the Kids Entertainment team made our holiday, particularly Robin and Kate.
What impressed me most was how genuine they both were. They didn’t just entertain the children — they got to know them. They remembered their names, encouraged them, made them laugh and made them feel important. You could see how much the children loved being around them.
Robin and Kate, thank you from the bottom of my heart for being so wonderful with the children . You gave them some fantastic memories, and you gave our son something even more valuable — a big boost in confidence at exactly the right time in his little life.
Hotel Lanzarote Village is extremely lucky to have you both on their team. You were a huge part of what made our family holiday so memorable, we are already missing you!
We really hope to come back and see you both again. ☀️❤️
We’ve just returned from two fantastic weeks at Hotel Lanzarote Village, and while we had a wonderful holiday overall, the absolute highlight for us as a family was the incredible Kids Entertainment/Animation team, especially Robin & Kate.
They were simply AMAZING with our children and deserve a huge amount of recognition for what they do.
Our 3-year-old son Theo is due to start playschool, and before the holiday he wasn’t particularly used to being in a playschool or kids-club environment. Over the course of our two weeks, we watched him completely come out of his shell. Robin and Kate were so warm, patient, encouraging and genuinely brilliant with him. They made him feel comfortable, included and excited to join in every day.
As parents, it was honestly amazing to watch. You could see his confidence growing day by day, and by the end of the two weeks he had come on leaps and bounds. We genuinely feel the experience has helped prepare him for starting playschool and made that upcoming transition so much easier for him — something we really didn’t expect to get from a family holiday!
And it wasn’t just our little one… our 12-year-old daughter absolutely LOVED it too! Keeping children with such a big age difference entertained and engaged is no easy task, but Robin and Kate somehow managed to make it special for both of them.
What really stood out was that it never felt like they were simply “doing their job.” They genuinely connected with the kids, remembered them, encouraged them and created such a fun, happy atmosphere. Our children couldn’t wait to see them and get involved.
Robin & Kate — a HUGE thank you from us. ❤️ You played such a big part in making our family holiday special, and the confidence you helped build in our little boy means more to us than you probably realise.
Hotel Lanzarote Village is very lucky to have you both. We would return for the kids entertainment team alone!
Thank you for an unforgettable two weeks! ☀️❤️
We’ve not long returned from a 10 night trip staying in the Lanzarote Village Hotel.
We absolutely loved the hotel! Great location, the rooms are spacious, and staying as all inclusive, we found enough variety of food for us all. My children are very fussy eaters but there was always pasta and chips and dinner time and they enjoyed hot dogs, burgers, pizza and nuggets from the pool bar.
The staff were really friendly and helpful. Always there for you if you needed anything.
My daughter absolutely fell in love with the animation staff and she misses them!! There was only 2 of them and they were really amazing with the children! My daughter chose to go to the mini club a few times and really enjoyed it. She also loved the evening mini disco and face painting.
Aid con in the room wasn’t the best. We had temperatures of well over 30 degrees and we did struggle in the room at night. We mentioned it to reception and they sent someone straight out to change the filter in the air con but unfortunately it didn’t make much difference. However this didn’t have too much of an effect on our holiday as we soon acclimatised to the heat!
The pool was lovely, although quite deep in some areas. My children can swim so it wasn’t too much of a problem but worth keeping in mind if you have a non swimmer. There was a small children’s pool though which all the children seemed to love.
Location is great, 20 min walk to PDC one way and the other around 20 min walk to Matagorda. Lots of shops, bars and restaurants if you fancy a change of scenery!!
Beach is literally across the road so nice and easy to get to!
Overall we had a fab time and we were sad to leave and we will 100% return in the future :)
Great Hotel – Would Definitely Stay Again
We really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel was very clean, and the staff were friendly, helpful and extremely accommodating.
We had a small issue with our room, but the staff were fantastic and sorted everything out straight away. I needed an iron, and when I returned to the room it was already there — and even better, it was a steamer!
Taxis can be booked easily from reception and arrived within minutes. It was less than €5 to get to the top of the strip, which was very convenient. Oh and it's so handy getting a taxi back from any taxi point on strip
The pool area was lovely, with plenty of space and no rushing to secure a sunbed. The food was a little monotonous, each to their own really, although breakfast was great. Personally, I was glad we didn't go all-inclusive, as there are some fantastic restaurants along the strip and they were very reasonably priced.
The location is also great. It's a short walk to the bus stop, with a Spar shop on the main street just behind the hotel. The beach is also only a short walk away .
Overall, we had a really enjoyable stay. A clean, friendly and well-located hotel with fantastic staff. We would happily stay here again! Oh and no hills to climb...
