To sumarise if you haven’t got all day. Location is still lovely but the food and service has fell off a cliff!!!

Terrible value, fine dining prices with microwave quality meals served cold. Food was awful and service was just as bad, with rude and careless staff. It’s nothing like it was in the past, magic is well and truly gone…

For the full review - Lanis has been our favourite restaurant for a long time with us visiting multiple times a year for over 10 years. We have many very happy memories here. The location is still beautiful but on this trip, the service and food was honestly the worst I’ve ever had on the island. It came as a massive shock it was nothing like the wonderful restaurant it used to be if you’re familiar with it over the years. There were errors not being fixed, chaos amongst staff, main meals cold and tasteless, and rude careless staff.

We had the wrong sides brought out, my partner’s main course was a completely wrong meal too. She ordered a vegetarian pasta but was given a fish pasta dish, my main chicken carbonara, arrived genuinely stone cold!!!

We politely sent both meals back but staff didn’t seem to care. When new meals arrived mine returned again cold. Both my second cold meal and partners replacement meal was so bland and lacked any flavour. We barely touched it leaving most of our meals. We didn’t want to give it a third attempt so we just waited for our 5 year old to finish her kids meal.

We wasn’t asked if our meals were okay there was no care from staff to why our meals were basically untouched.

The service throughout the evening was chaotic. Staff were constantly running around, we struggled to get the attention of anyone, weren’t offered another drink from when we first arrived, and seemed to be served by a different waiter every time. For what is marketed as a fine dining restaurant, it felt completely disorganised and chaotic at times, serving poor food you still wouldn’t expect from a budget restaurant.

We also witnessed a waiter being extremely rude to an elderly gentleman. He politely complained that his meal was cold, only for the waiter to abruptly reply, “In a moment,” before walking off. The gentleman responded, “Not in a moment, my meal is cold .” The waiter simply grunted, repeated, “I said in a moment,” and stormed off. It was uncomfortable to watch and summed up the lack of customer care throughout the evening.

What disappointed us most wasn’t that mistakes were made, every restaurant can have an off night. It was the complete lack of care afterwards. We left our table and spoke privately to one of our many servers at the till, rather than cause a scene for other guests,

We explained that we’d been loyal customers for over 10 years, and encourage friends and family to visit when they’re in town too. We explained the service and food has been terrible tonight and explained the issues listed above, highlighting it’s been that bad we’ve been unable to eat the food.

There was no apology and there was no attempt to put things right, no good will gestures, he simply did not care and just passed me a full priced bill anyway for meals we were unable to eat, due to being cold and so poor!! It felt we were being ripped off and rushed out the door.

If we didn’t have our now tired young child and baby with us, I would have refused to pay. However given the circumstances being on holiday with a young family, I felt forced to pay in full. However I explained to the server if I have to pay in full for shocking food we couldn’t even eat, I won’t ever return and will share this experience to many friends and family that visit and will share with a honest review of what’s happened. Again no care whatsoever to fix the issue or value our custom. No manager was called just handed a bill at very best I think he grunted “sorry” but clearly didn’t care.

Ironically, this was also the most expensive meal of our holiday, yet by far the worst experience. We felt we’ve just been scammed to be honest.

Only positive was that the location obviously still has its beautiful views but the ambience has gone with the staff rushing all over the place and being rude. There was one waitress who was very welcoming and friendly but that was it, the senior waiters were very poor.

For management/ownership. This negative review could have been potentially avoided had we been heard and respected and there been an effort to make this right. However your staff didn’t appear to care about the mistakes, the loss of future custom or impact to your reputation.

It’s a real shame to write this because we’ve always loved Lani’s and have recommended it to countless friends and family over the years. Sadly, after this experience, we won’t ever be returning.

The whole weekend from start to finish was excellent. The attention to detail and service from all the staff was exceptional. We will definitely return
