HL Paradise Island

Where do i start? After reading the reviews after booking we went with an open mind. Upon arrival we were met by 2 police officers leaving the building at 2am presumably the all inclusive drinks and spirits were too much for some one. The room looked OK upon first arrival but it was 2am and dark, the beds were uncomfortable and the living room beds for the children were something you would expect to find in a prison. The cleaners came every other day but didn't really do anything I think they just opened the door and had a look around and carried on with their day. Towels were changed 3 times in 10 nights and we were without toilet paper on 2 separate occasions. The facilities are dated and in need of immediate refurbishment, the concrete surrounding the pools is cracked and broken everywhere the pool water is murky at best and full of debris and paper cups and on 2 separate occasions me and my daughter recovered cutlery from the dinner service from the pool. That being said the staff are really friendly and helpful and I truly believe the biggest downfall of this place is the clientele it attracts. Think Ingoldmells with all inclusive and decent weather. All in all if you like rowdy drunk brits and the smell of weed this place is for you. If you don't like that kind of stuff then I would certainly steer well clear. I certainly will not be returning that is for sure. Playa Blanca is a lovely little town and although we went all inclusive we spent every night there as the entertainment on site is garbage to say the least.

We came here as our first family holiday since having our son. Unfortunately the rooms were below cleanliness standard, but we made do!

I can honestly say that the hotel is trying its best. Food was good and lots of options. Entertainment was sub par with the only good nights being when outside entertainment was brought in.

Staff are nice.

Unfortunately due to the clientele I do think the hotel has no hope, the holiday makers here have little to no respect for tidying up after themselves! It was very unfortunate for a family with a 1 year old, have 3 children sit next to them and start smoking weed. We also witnessed drugs being consumed; not okay for a family resort.

Overall we wouldn’t return, we made the best with what we were given! It’s such a shame as this hotel has potential but unfortunately is being ruined by guests who have no respect!

Room was dirty, sofa beds are not sofa beds, they are hard sponge material, reception did offer mattress toppers but these were very dirty and worn. We had zero furniture on the balcony, reception did say they would organise chairs but they did not. I asked for extra pillows, we did not get any. The electricity went off twice, every time we put the air con on the electric went off. The fridge made a loud humming noise. The 'sofa bed' in the living room had no air con, it was difficult to sleep. I got a terrible ear infection, the public toilets near the main pool are were always covered in pee and toilet overflowed with feces on 2 occasions, walking bare foot is pee was disgusting. The food was edible with decent selection, however we all had terrible stomachs every day. The bar cocktails tasted off most of the time. Entertainment kids discos was geared towards under 6, nothing great for over 6 year old, repetitive. The guests were awful, it was like the Jeremy kyle show in Lanzarote, loud, always fighting, the amount of nasty looks I got was scary at times especially when you could easily recognise that drugs were indeed consumed, shouting late into the night, same people hogged the top tables during Entertainment, smoking weed, drunk, ruined most nights we decided not to participate, i felt sorry for their own kids, very very rude. Lack of information give on arrival, you guys need a leaflet with more information about entertainment nights and menus, we did not see the 'Entertainment wall' until our last day. More bins needed at the pool, perhaps reusable able cups at a charge so that guests dont throw them down, a smoking area with chairs would solve guests smoking everywhere and at pools. The sun loungers need repaired, I hurt my back badly when one collapsed as it was held up by a small rope, they are very dirty, you guys cpuld make miney by selling £5.00 rental sun lounger toppers per day. Go karts over priced, we would have done archery had we been told on arrival. Some lockers at the main pool and some at the water park area again good way to get extra money. Paid for WiFi didnt work fully. Housekeepinf 1st morning narged in at 8.30am and spoke loudly in spanish for around 10 minutes, that is fine but 8.30 am for a room clean is too early, after 10am for stay overs. I can see the staff are trying, I can see the potential, it was just overpriced, dirty, worn and the other guests were terrible.
