Amazing hotel

As a family we absolutely loved our stay at the H10 Rubicón Horizons Collection hotel. It was everything we expected and more. Hotel was clean, the staff some of the most friendliest in any place I've stayed before. Great food, great atmosphere around the place. Guests where also friendly. We decided to upgrade our room from a standard double to a junior suite which was worth every penny. Everything around the pools was great, the fact you get clean pool towels everyday was nice. the poor bar was great, even stocking 0% gin which was great for my partner. The hotel bars were also great. They showed football in the theatre and even had the popcorn machine running which was a nice touch too. The noise level was great, nothing too loud. If I had one negative thing to add it was the asian restaurant on site. It was a nightmare to book, we ended up with a 21:30pm table and the food wasn't amazing. Red curry, was not a red curry. It's a real shame because I didn't want to write anything negative about this place, because it doesn't deserve it. Location wise was spot on, we walked to Playa Blanca a few times and really enjoyed the coastal walk to the lighthouse too. We will 100% be back.

Unapologetically Recommend.

It took about 40 mins travel from the airport to the hotel and we went first to the main reception to then be directed to the Privilege Reception.

We were then offered a Prosecco (Cava) or cold drink whilst we were checked in and provided information and maps for our stay. We were also advised that a light snack was being provided in the main restaurant once we had checked in.

We were then driven by golf cart to our adjoining rooms (1108 & 1109) which we were very happy with. Towels, mini bar, chocolates, coffee pods, toiletries. We were very happy. The room was clean, and cleaned often by a lovely team.

In the morning we found the Privilege Pool close to our accommodation which was ideal.

We took the Privilege Breakfast which was really good with bacon just like home. The juices were fresh and the kids mainly enjoyed pancakes and waffles. My wife thought the scrambled eggs and bacon were superb and I tried the full English (wouldn't try the black pudding again though... personal preference that) . When we entered we were again offered Cava but this was one of only two times that would happen.

Lunch and dinner in Janubio: the kids liked it but not for me. The number of kids picking food up and putting it back down really put me off so the option to dine ala carte three times was very welcome.

In Volcan, dinner was really good (although a well done steak should not be red/pink). Dolce Vita was really good (Fusilli Al arabiata and Neoplitan Chicken went down really well). Sakura was also good though the spring rolls whilst crisp and fresh were pretty tasteless. The sushi my son enjoyed as he duck the and my Thai Red Curry was very nice.

Took a while to try to the Bistro which we loved and went back each day as a rest for lunch. Good service and the salads were lovely (and large), burgers huge and fries fresh to order. Lovely. Go find it!!!

Drinks wise - the piano bar was our favourite with a good service and great selection of drinks. Moscow Mule was by far my favourite. Aperol Spritz and Mango Daquiris went down well too. So highly recommend the Piano Bar.

Mike's Coffee was also good but really busy when it was a little chilly or windy.

The Privilege Pool bar was a great service too however, we never saw the poolside cleaned once ie power washed. Some stains stayed in place until I boiled a kettle and washed them away.

Staff wise, we found them largely to be helpful and friendly especially in the ala carte restaurants and the porters - give those nice guys a pat on the back. We found only one member of staff there on the 27th and 28th at breakfast who was just plain disinterested. But hey - 1 out of so many is still a win.

Privilege wise - loved the lounge for a quiet drink of an afternoon or evening with some lovely views over to Fuerteventura.

Location wise - we did walk into Play Blanca along the promenade one day as there is not much in the immediate area od the hotel. Coming back though wa sonly about €7 inlcuidnf a tip.

Overall : we ecommend, recommend, recommend.

Not a 5 star hotel!

Our party were a family of ten and visited here as some party members have previously visited on a number of occasions. I highly doubt we’ll return. I’ve purposely left writing a review for a few days since returning after being on the wrong end of the worst example of customer service I’ve ever received on our last night. Had I done so this review would have been utterly scathing.

Pro’s Great location- lovely walk into playa blanca which only takes 45 mins. €5 in a taxi. Food was good. Not as good as a lot of 5* hotels I’ve been too. It felt very crowded around the hot food at times too. Plenty of sunbeds. None of this 6am get ups to have any chance of sunbeds like in other hotels. Good room size, clean and really comfortable bed. The eating area in general was very nice. I really liked the outside dining area.

Negatives Check in took far too long. The hotel is showing its age. Slightly dilapidated in some areas. A lot of the locks in the toilet doors didn’t work and they place the hand dryers next to the main door. I saw so many people drying their hands get hit by the door being opened by someone entering toilets. Poor design. There was no way to lock the door to our room from the inside. Great for not allowing people in but not so great if you’re trying to keep toddlers in. Need some kind of bolt/catch as this could be a big hazard for parents sleeping. Kids could easily have escaped! Service at the piano bar was poor. They have a weird system where one person takes your order and another delivers to the table. Very slow. Cider (Magners). Served in the piano bar but not part of the all inclusive package. Bizarre. €5.40 for a bottle. Around the pool they have photographers who are constantly stalking their next prey trying to sell their services. Some in our party organised a family photo shoot then when they went to buy them they tried conning us by saying they viewed us as 4 family’s not one therefore wanted to charge us all for one photo. Daylight robbery The food in the snack bar was pretty poor.

Coming back to our last night. We pre booked the ‘steak house’ (snack bar by day). As we were a party of ten (including a two year old and 2 ten year olds) the hotel contacted us two months in advance to get a pre food booking. We thought this was completely fair and didn’t mind whatsoever. Turned up and they gave us the menus. We explained we had pre ordered and they said it was a mistake and that our food was already ready. Served the starters. The chicken wings were red / bleeding at the bone. We decided not to eat them but didn’t say anything. We then waited an hour and a half watching people turn up much later than us getting served their food. We were assured on three occasions the food was coming but it clearly wasn’t so we decided to leave to the buffet as the kids were hungry. The ‘front of house’ was clearly annoyed by this so when I explained that our experience was unacceptable he just gave me a dismissive hand gesture (a shew away) saying ‘ok. Adios’ repeatedly including when I said ‘I think the word you’re looking for is sorry’. He was so dismissive I genuinely couldn’t believe his attitude. He refused to engage in our concerns/ situation. Imagine waiting 90 mins for food that was pre ordered 2 months prior. Not to mention undercooked chicken wings.

All in all we had a great holiday but that was due to the company. This hotel could be really good and it’s in the managements hands to make it so with some improvements. Certainly not a 5* hotel!

Great time once again.

We traveled as a family of four and this was our fourth time staying with this hotel. We had a wonderful time, to many happy experiences to mention, the staff were so helpful and dinning options top class. Some great new additions and refurb since last year. We hope to return in 2027 , keep up the good work. I suggest doing privilege option as it covers all your needs especialy if you have older kids.

Gets better and better each visit

Just returned from another fantastic faultless stay at the Rubicon Palace. Along with other members of my family and now friends we’ve been regular visitors to this hotel for more than 20 years. The improvements made year on year continue to ensure like us many visitors return multiple times over many years, and it’s not hard to see why. The recent addition of the adults only area including rooms, pool, and restaurants is yet another great improvement and a great example of the hotel listening to its guest reviews. From the staff at check-in through to the restaurant staff and everyone in between, all who are incredibly polite, friendly and helpful. A special mention to Theresa for her assistance to us for all the years we’ve been coming here. No request is ever an issue and she always try’s to assist. Thank you from us all. Our rooms were spotless and serviced daily. Thank you for our little membership gifts, they were a very tasty treat. The new larger pool towels and the process of acquiring them is a good addition to the sustainability programme too. We only changed our towels once during our 4 day stay which was absolutely no issue for us. Food wise we mainly used the main buffet along with the new Blue Moon adults only restaurant. Both offer an amazing selection of food for even the most discerning of food critics. With the latter offering more of an à la carte experience. The pork loin in a mushrooms sauce was a definite highlight as was the king prawn paella. The addition of the new bistro bar lunchtime menu is an absolute winner, Mike’s is just simply Mike’s, a great place for milkshakes, smoothies and exceptional coffee’s. We used it as an excuse for a nice shaded afternoon break from the sun. Try the chocolate cake in there as my daughter did, it’s not only delicious but huge lol 😂 Relaxing evening’s spent drinking cocktails in the piano bar listening to the entertainment like Pedro are a fantastic way to end your day. There’s plenty of other entertainment options going on every night like the external fire show, singers in the show bar etc along with plenty for the kids of all ages to do. Thanks again Rubicon, see you again in October
