H10 Rubicon Horizons Playa Blanca 3 star at best- food awful Stayed as a couple, Half Board, The Hotel is located quite far out from Playa Blanca, there are no shops around hotel, there is a small hyper dino about 20 mins walk see google maps, couple small restaurants 10 min walk along promenade. Playa Blanca center, took us 30 mins to walk to beach and then another 10 to Marina so overall about 40 mins walk to playa Blanca. We hired a car for 4 days and I would recommend this, we used Cicar and can recommend them but there are plenty hire companies so do your own research. Rooms were a bit run down compared to photographs but to be honest not any worse than any where else in Spain, rooms are not as big as they look in photographs but the balconies were a good size with table chairs and sun loungers. The room size was okay for 2 people but would be a bit tight for adults and kids, if you are sharing with friends you better all be good friends. Overall rooms were no worse than most Spanish accommodation. Hotel reception looks impressive when you arrive but after a few days you start to see the general lack of maintenance. Hotel gardens and pools are well kept however room corridors have cracked chipped walls and tiles everywhere. There are a number of pools and bars however if you are half board you cannot use all of them, to be fair main pool is very large and lots sun loungers never had any issues getting a sun lounger at any time of day. Mike’s coffee shop service was hit and miss we walked out on one occasion as the waitress was just blatantly ignoring us. I had read numerous reviews, before our stay, many reviews described the buffet as poor, I read the reviews and put it down to people being too fussy. Now I have to say I am the least fussy eater imaginable I will try anything and am acutely aware that different countries have different standards and tastes in food and generally you have to adapt to this. However I am sorry to say the buffet was truly appalling in both quality and quantity. I will try to be objective, Breakfast in general breakfast was okay, usual selection of fruit, cereals, yogurt, none of which was high quality but perfectly acceptable, The hot selection was the same every day fresh omelets’ bacon, sausages, beans again not best quality, think Iceland own brand for quality, there was a pancake station but the queue here was always long and frankly they were undercooked as they tried to keep up with demand, There are a small selection of pastries and bread rolls, look carefully at these as you will see what’s left of them again at lunch and dinner, the butter and margarine packs are just all stacked in wire baskets next to bread not refrigerated so all very runny, again you will see these at lunch and dinner, I saw no evidence that these were refrigerated out with meal times. To conclude breakfast although not great was perfectly adequate. Evening Buffett was truly awful. The selection was poor and the quality of the meat was very low, pay particular attention to chicken, first night I had a look and I could see blood red juices in the trays, needless to say I did not have chicken all holiday, the food is cooked at the serving station and basically they would cook a batch and then when that ran out scramble to cook some more which lead to cooking being rushed, presentation was just dump it in a tray, there was usually some sort of beef or pork but very poor quality. Chips were cheapest thin fries and were deep fried then just dumped in serving tray very greasy, There was a small selection of pasta which was just cooked and then dumped in serving tray not properly drained, There was usually some sort of fish but full of bones. Usually some sort of rice and selection of vegetables but honestly very poor quality. Now there may be people reading this thinking “ I thought the food was great. You are just too fussy” I genuinely hope this is true and everyone enjoyed there stay and it was just me, but I felt I had to share my thoughts.
Would I go back definitely not, but I did enjoy my holiday, whether you enjoy your holiday I think may depend on how much you paid for it, we travelled with Jet 2 on a half board basis and the overall cost was not much more than self catering accommodation in Playa Blanca, so I went with the mind set of this is a good sized hotel and the half board is a bonus but if I had been all inclusive I would have been bitterly disappointed. All staff looked as if they wished both you and they were anywhere else but here ,with the exception of the housekeeping staff who were very friendly.

We are getting married here next year and came to visit the hotel. We were so nervous having read a few negative reviews lately but having spent a week there we are so confused how anyone could have written such bad reviews?!?!

The hotel grounds are lovely. People working all the time to keep it clean and tidy and presentable. The hotel is big and covers a large area so northing ever feels overly crowded. We went last week of august so in peak season.

Previously when we have stayed at big hotels, we have found the kids entertainment to be a bit commercjal and rubbish but not here. The adults who run it are fantastic with the kids. They dance with them, laugh with them and daisy comes out every night to see the children too! The kids mini disco is 730 which we actually found a bit too early because the buffet doesn't open until 7pm so we would eat dinner and rush to the mini disco for about 745. Worked fine for us. After at 8:15 ish they do kids movie nights, bingo etc and there is a bouncy castle. There is also some later options at 915 for the kids too.

We were impressed with the food. We are your average easy going family who sit somewhere in between fine dining and cheap and cheerful. The food for us was good quality and great variety! I am not sure what there is to complain about or what more people would want. The salad bar was great, I had a delicious paella one night. Lots of meat and fish being freshly cooked and a huge selection of deserts. I dont usually like all inclusive deserts but here I thought they tasted super.

The snack bar was a good poolside option but here there was not much variety. Hot dogs, burgers, nuggets, chips and nachos. My personal opinion is that a pizza stand would be nice in here too. We didnt see a single slice of pizza all week.

Rooms are of a good size and very comfortable. Kept clean all week. No complaints.

Staff all very friendly, attentive and helpful. Very easy to get a golf buggy if needed to take you from a-b

We are thoroughly excited for our wedding here next may and havw absolutely ZERO concerns or worries based on our stay. Please dont let any negative reviews deter you from this wonderful hotel!!

We came to this lovely hotel for the second time in a month with my daughter and two small grandchildren (age 8 and 4) The experience was just as good both times Teresa looked after our booking request and Dario was very helpful again whilst we were there ….thank you to you both ! The children’s pool was our place of choice although the larger pools were a hit too . The pool was very strictly overseen by a SOS guard from 10am when the pool opens and they made sure the children were safe We left the hotel only once to go to the beach the hotel is 100 percent geared to children’s happiness . The buffet restaurant for breakfast lunch and dinner was enjoyable although we did sneak a couple of breakfast visits to the blue moon restaurant (adults only) which I can highly recommend. We visited the Italian à la carte twice which the children loved (pizza mad)and this was a good experience also the waiters were very child friendly in here The hotel itself is well maintained and all the drinks on All Inclusive were top branded names. We booked a sea view room which we would recommend We will return again to this family orientated hotel
