An excellent holiday, all staff were fantastic from check in to cleaners to waiting staff, bar staff and even the maintenance guys... rooms were clean and a decent size, food was good and something for everyone, pool area was again excellent, although no snacks available at the quieter pool so a trek to the other side of the complex as we were in C Block. Our experience was a very good one as all staff are attentive, grounds are immaculate, room was upgraded to a one bedroom apartment so that was another bonus, supermarket on site and lots of fantastic bars and restaurants within walking distance....
This review reflects my personal experience, and I appreciate that others may have had a completely different stay.
On arrival, I found the reception area rather bland and uninviting, so unfortunately it didn't create the best first impression. The room itself was perfectly adequate, with plenty of storage space, but the beds and pillows were extremely hard. By the end of the holiday my joints were aching, and I struggled to get a comfortable night's sleep.
I know food is subjective, and what one person enjoys another may not. We've stayed in hotels ranging from 3 to 5 stars, so we don't expect fine dining every day. However, in my opinion, this was by far the poorest food we've experienced. It wasn't just repetitive, it was also lacking in flavour, and much of it was only lukewarm. Even the salads, which I would usually look forward to, were very basic with very little variety. There were very few dishes that I genuinely enjoyed, and on several occasions I struggled to find anything I wanted to eat. By the end of the holiday, we were eating simply because we were hungry rather than because we enjoyed the food. For an all-inclusive hotel, where food is such a major part of the holiday experience, this was a real disappointment.
The dining area also felt quite small considering the size of the hotel, and during busy periods it could feel overcrowded. On more than one occasion I picked up dirty plates, and I repeatedly had to ask for my chair to be cleaned because it still had food on it. I felt the cleanliness inside the hotel didn't match the standard of the beautifully maintained gardens and outdoor areas, which were a real credit to the hardworking staff.
Most of the staff I noticed were the housekeeping and gardening teams, who worked incredibly hard to keep the hotel looking its best. The bar staff were polite enough but didn't seem particularly engaging, and it often felt as though there simply weren't enough of them during busy periods, leading to long waits. Overall, it felt as though some areas of the hotel were understaffed for the number of guests.
Finally, the inevitable topic of sunbeds. I don't mind people reserving a sunbed if they're actually going to use it. I'm an early riser and enjoy spending the morning by the pool, but many beds were reserved first thing in the morning and then left empty until well after midday. In my opinion, that's unfair to other guests. I also felt there simply weren't enough sunbeds for the number of people staying at the hotel. While I appreciate this is a common issue at many resorts, there appeared to be plenty of surrounding space where additional sunbeds could have been placed. Increasing the number available might help reduce the need for guests to reserve them so early each morning. The hotel also didn't seem to enforce any policy on unattended reserved sunbeds, which only made the situation worse.
I was also surprised that the pool didn't open until 10am. As someone who enjoys an early morning swim before it gets busy, this was disappointing, and I couldn't really understand the reasoning behind it.
Overall, this holiday simply wasn't for me. Although the gardens were beautiful and the housekeeping and gardening staff worked incredibly hard, the uncomfortable beds, disappointing food, cleanliness issues, overcrowded dining area, lack of available sunbeds and slow bar service meant the negatives outweighed the positives. I know others may have had a much more enjoyable stay, but I can only comment on my own experience, and unfortunately I wouldn't choose to return.
Had such an amazing stay at the Los zocos it’s truly was amazing from the moment we arrived and greeted by the friendly reception staff. The hotel was so impressive, amazing atmosphere all day and night the entertainment team go above and beyond and catered for both my sons ages 9 and 16, the food was excellent was there for 10 days and didn’t have one bad meal fantastic selection of food live cooking at every sitting truly outstanding, the rooms are a fantastic size with everything you could possibly need kept clean and tidy by the outstanding house keeping team, the balcony was a great size, everything about our stay here is truly memorable
We stayed at Los zocos the first week in July and paid less than £2,500 for 2 adults 2 children. We arrived around 10:45am and received a free upgrade to a 2 bedroom apartment in block 3, our room was ready straight away. When we arrived in the room the floor was really dirty, trying to unpack and our feet were black. The maid was outside so we asked if the floor could be mopped and she brought in a mop bucket with brown dirty water and remopped the floor. Our feet were still black when we returned. I went to reception to ask for the floor to be cleaned again which is was. Throughout the stay the cleaning wasn’t great and the bed sheets were never changed the whole time we were there. The air conditioning isn’t very powerful and seemed to make the bedding and our feet clothes feel damp.
The pools were good, entertainment around the “loud pool” mainly consisted of the entertainment team trying to encourage adults to play games, we were told our teen could join in if there wasn’t enough adults. Don’t understand why adults are prioritised over the kids. There was a foam party one day which the children enjoyed. People do get up around 5/6am to reserve sunbeds with parasols and some don’t turn up until gone 11. The pool doesn’t open until 10am. There are sunbeds stacked around the pools so you can find a space with them but shade is very limited. Some sunbeds are better than others lots were old and broken.
Food and drink is much to be desired. Some days the drinks tasted like bleach because of the cleaning solution used on the cups or the lines not sure which but very unpleasant. Food in the snack bar is cheap and processed, the burgers looked like tinned burgers and birds fly in and peck at the food. The canteen is busy and hot, the food isn’t great, there don’t seem to be options to put together to make a normal meal. The desserts were bad, even the kids wouldn’t eat them.
Entertainment at night was terrible, Michael Jackson and Freddie mercury acts were the entertainment team in wigs dancing to songs. The galleon bar has singers on, one was ok the rest murdered each and every song.
For the amount we paid for the hotel it was comfortable. We ate out every night and used the restaurant for lunch time salads or a breakfast. If we had paid more I would have been really disappointed but overall it was an ok deal.
Good all round place to go to clean good food and snacks helpful staff
