El Trebol

This was our fifth stay at the El Trebol, and once again it did not disappoint. A short 20 minute transfer from the airport and we were there. Quick check in and we had a room overlooking the pool. The rooms are spacious, with bedroom and separate kitchen / seating area, with kettle, microwave, and fridge. There are cups, plates, glasses and cutlery. There was also a decent sized balcony with table and 2 chairs. In the bathroom, the shower was also a decent size. The food in the restaurant was good, with great breakfast, good choices for lunch and themed evening meals - roast on Sunday, Mexican, Asian, Indian, Gala Night, Movie Night, Canarian and there was always pizza etc . I have always found the food at El Trebol very good. Drinks are probably not the best quality, but are adequate and you have Amstel lager, red wine, white wine and sangria on tap. You can have also have cava and plenty of other spirits. I was a bit surprised at the amount of school aged children around, seeing as the summer holidays had just finished. Never had a problem getting a sun bed and there were plenty still stacked up throughout the day. The pools are a good size and there is separate childrens pool / area. The entertainment was not particularly great, although Alan Pick on the Saturday evening was good (but it is a shame he does not have a couple of different 'playlists', just so you have a different show if there for 2 weeks). It is a 10 minute walk to the main beach and we felt safe walking around Costa Teguise. Nice walks along the sea front etc. The staff were all very polite and helpful (as always). OK it is not the Ritz and may not be to everyone's taste, but it is good value for money option if you want a quick, easy get away to the sun. We have stayed five times, so it must be doing something tright, and we have seen numerous people who have returned time after time, or stay for many weeks at a time. I'm sure we will be back! The location was brilliant, just a 10-minute walk to the beach, and a big thumbs-up for accessibility too! Our friends had a wheelchair, and getting around was absolutely no problem, which was fantastic. The hotel staff were mostly lovely, apart from the woman in the pool bar who looked like she’d rather be anywhere else on the planet! 😂 Smiles clearly weren’t included in her all-inclusive package! The drinks were your usual local beers, wines and spirits, which weren’t exactly going to win any awards, but you could help yourself to beer and soft drinks, so you can’t complain too much. 🍺 The food was a bit like Groundhog Day, with the same things appearing regularly, but it tasted nice and there was always something to eat. The sausages at breakfast were particularly good, so much so that they deserve an honourable mention! 🌭 Our apartment was absolutely massive! It had a small kitchenette, a lounge, a decent-sized bedroom, a bathroom with a shower powerful enough to remove your sins, and a huge balcony. Plenty of room to lose each other in! 😂 Housekeeping was a little hit and miss. Our beds were only made once during the week, but I make my own bed at home anyway, so no drama there. We had clean towels every day, which was great, but the kitchen bin apparently became a permanent resident, as it wasn't emptied once! 🤣 I'm also fairly sure the floor was mopped once during the week, although I can't rule out that I imagined it. Despite these little niggles, the pool and restaurant areas were absolutely spotless, and none of the negatives spoiled our holiday. Would we go back? Absolutely! ❤️ It's not the Ritz, the drinks won't knock your socks off, and the kitchen bin might become part of the family, but we had a great time, the apartment was huge, the location was spot-on, and you really can't ask for much more from a holiday. 🌴🍹

overall really great hotel, especially for the price. airport & transfer were the usual - no complaints this end. our room wasn’t ready on arrival (around 12pm) but we just took a walk to the shop and sat outside and we were in our room within an hour 30 mins. during this time we were also able to eat from the snack bar and had some drinks.

rooms are great, we are a couple and we had a spacious living and kitchen area. along with a standard bedroom and bathroom. the balcony is massive and can be accessed via bedroom or living room doors. bedroom is cleaned regularly, almost every day with the exception of a few. the room has a fridge, a safe, aircon and some basic cooking equipment if that’s what you need. i’m sure you could also hire extra things at reception if you wanted to.

the pool areas are lovely, there is a small kids pool with slides and shallower water and sunbeds around. there are also 2 adult pools which are around 1.5m deep. these are very big and the sunbeds are all around. there are more than enough sunbeds to go around and you can grab these at any point in the day (no sunbed wars!).

right next to the pool is a snack bar where you can get soft drinks and alcohol. there is also food here including burgers and hotdogs with salad and ice cream. there’s also some fruits, prepackaged and yoghurts in the fridge. this is open from around 10-5 i think. these can be taken out of the snack bar and eaten around the pool. just left of the pool is the main restaurant area that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

the food is very good for all inclusive food. there are different themed nights including mexican, indian, chinese and roast dinner. the meats are cooked well and there is always a range of foods. every day you have the pizzas, pastas, rice and salads you can choose from. along with that there is usually a main meat with sides. there is always something to have and it is all cooked very well. there will never be ‘nothing’ to chose from. desserts are great, lots to choose from including cakes, jelly and ice cream. no complaints from us.

the entertainment team are great and all staff are friendly. there is always something going on, different activities to do around the pool or in the evening. standard tui entertainment like mini disco, karaoke, music bingo and games.

the hotel has no lifts so if you have a pushchair or are looking for an accessible hotel maybe this isn’t for you. although i’m sure some people asked for ground floor rooms and were granted this, there are ramps everywhere other than the steps up to the rooms. we were the top floor (3rd) and we had no real issues with the steps, it was completely manageable for us as it’s not that high up.

the hotel is in a great area, not overly busy not has a spar supermarket on the back as well and restaurants and other shops around the corner. general atmosphere is great, family friendly and fun. we had no issues with noise at all during our stay! overall we would definitely come back again and had a great week!
