El Trebol

We came here in middle of the school holidays so it was busy, the 1st day their was no sunbeds at all but the rest of our 10 day trip here there was loads and still some stacked up at 3pm, we found breakfast and lunch better than dinner on the night, the snack bar was average you had to wait until the staff had finished their conversation with each other or what they was doing before they served you, at one point they didn’t I ended up walking off. Service wasn’t good. One big thing there is no disabled access for people in wheelchairs or people who have difficulty climbing up stairs you have to walk up stairs to get to the ground floor apartments, we requested a ground floor but got second floor and the receptionist didn’t help us just shrugged his shoulders!

We have just returned from a fab 10 night stay at El Trebol and would definitely recommend for families. We are a family of 2 adults and 2 children, aged 5 and 7 and the hotel suited all our needs. We stayed in a ground floor 1 bedroom apartment over looking the kids pool, it was perfectly quiet at night so never got disturbed by noise. The balcony area is very spacious and has a handy clothes line so we could hang out our wet towels and swim clothes at the end of the day.

The hotel is very well maintained by the cleaning staff, especially the pools and pool area, the staff work really hard around the clock to make sure the hotel is always looking great. The hotel is very well located near to the beach (about a 10 minute easy walk) with plenty of souvenir shops, restaurants, excursions shops etc. There is also a big SPAR just next door to the hotel which is handy if you need any extra snacks etc.

The food was really good with different themes each night, our favourites were Mexican night and also movie night where there was self service popcorn and sweet station where you could help yourself to a selection of pick and mix sweets. At lunch we tended to use the restaurant as the pool bar food was limited to burgers/hotdogs/chips. Pool bar was great for snacks like yogurts, fruits, self service ice cream and drinks. The drinks were all branded so orange/lemon fanta, coke and coke zero and sprite on tap as well as beer and wine. Can also get alcohol from the pool bar served by the staff.

Our highlights of the hotel were the activities run by the animation team. Big thanks to Mariam, Nolan and Maria who were super friendly and Mariam particularly great with the kids. We participated in archery. darts, pool, water mat, aqua aerobics and more. We also made lots of use of the mini golf which looks like it was brand new and really good fun.

We used a local excursion company to book day trips to Timifayan National park which was excellent (plus the camel ride on the way was fun) and a boat trip to Lobos Island. We didn't get to spot any dolphins but we saw lots of lying fish and the island was beautiful. Just a word of warning that the ride back was very rough, my son was terrified going over the waves and we got pretty soaked too. We also visited the Aquarium next to the hotel which was really nice for the morning, its quite small but well run and have lots of interesting fish.

My only constructive criticism would be that there isn't a kids club available. There is a very old run down play park next to what looks like an old kids club but its no longer open. A park and kids club would be a brilliant addition. Also my daughter cut her foot in the shallow side of the pool, we think on some paint that was coming off on the bottom of the pool so I would probably recommend wearing pool shoes when going in the shallow pool.

Overall we had a fantastic stay and it was a great experience for our first time in Lanzarote, Thank you.
