Generally very happy with one or two observations

Stayed here at the end of July. Our suite had clearly been very recently renovated, we were really pleased with it. No carpet in sight, roomy and modern, with 2 spacious balconies. Only quibble would be there was a kettle provided and yet no cups and the fridge was too small for full-size bottles of drinks. Very minor observations! As for the rest of the hotel, I found it to be very clean, grand looking in style and well maintained for the most part, however some areas had seen much better days, for eg in certain parts of the seating area in the Niagara bar particularly at the ‘spa’ end. Kids arcade was unfortunately too small, lacked a range of working machines or choice. Would have been nice to have been able to sit and have drinks during the daytime in the hotel itself. The only choice was the bar across the pool area, which was busy with swimmers getting their poolside refreshments. I was sadly surprised (especially after reading reviews) to find there was a shortage of sunbeds. One of the selling points for me, other than the pool itself which is the jewel in the crown of this hotel, was reading that there are plenty of loungers/sunbeds for everyone. Not the case for the duration of our stay, at least. I suspect many had been taken away- noted a couple of broken ones-as there were entire sections around the pool which would’ve made sense to have sunbeds positioned in, which were left as redundant spaces. After a couple of days we realised it would have to be a case of ‘if you can’t beat them, join them’ as guests would rush to secure their spots then reserve them with towels and clips whether they intended to use them at that point in time or have them on standby for later use (staff should have a policy whereby if a lounger has been left for hours with no sign of towel owner, they should be freed up for people who are actually looking to use it). Strangely, there was a whole bar area next door to the restaurant which we didn’t see open once, and countless units downstairs near the shops which weren’t put to use. The shops didn’t sell groceries which was a shame. Not a hardship for us as a trip down to Spar is doable enough but wouldn’t be for everyone. Most staff were lovely and attentive, one or two seemed impatient, abrupt and eye-rolled when you weren’t quick enough communicating your order in perfect Spanish, as a tourist on holiday. However I did note that these young men were working long hours, around the hotel in a variety of roles so I sympathise. On to the food: there were ample amounts, with a vast variety of choice comprising different sections and themes catering to all but the pickiest eater. It’s not like at home, because you’re not at home. And even it’s only salads and chips you’re after, you’ll find plenty of them, with regular replenishment. At breakfast and dinner there are about 5-6 different kinds of breads and baguettes as standard. Spreads, condiments, dips, all being plentiful. Last but not least, I must be the odd one out on this, but being on the very top floor, my heart was in my mouth at certain points when I could hear children running excitedly down the corridors, as the walls are not very high at all, over which is open space from the top to the marble bottom of the hotel. This huge atrium, as impressive and open as it is, is not for the faint-hearted when looking down and considering the safety of the walls (flimsy wooden ‘fencing’ add about a foot of extra height but aren’t robust).

A great family holiday

We spent 10 days here as a family of 3. Myself, my partner and my 9 year old son. We stayed all inclusive. We arrived late in the evening but the hotel has set out food for us for when we arrived which consisted of an egg salad with some ham. I was a little apprihensive as I read a lot of bad reviews but We had a great holiday. I will name a list of pros and cons. Pros The hotel offers lots of activities during the day including tennis courts, football pitch, giant chess board and bowls. Animation team always have activities throughout the day also. The animation team are always so energetic and really get you excited. Big shout out to them. Hotel is grand and has amazing plants and giving a tropical feel to the hotel. Hotel rooms were cleaned on a daily with fresh towels. Cleaning staff deserve the biggest shoutout for the room cleaning. Kids club was a big hit with my son he enjoyed the. There is a bus service to the beach 3 times per day but this is walkable too. About a 10 min walk. Nightly entertainment was fantastic something every night. There was lots to offer regarding food every evening. There are 3 pools. 1 little pool for smaller children an averaged sized pool and a large saltwater pool which had a waterfall which was lovely. There was a jacuzzi but this was not working when we were there. Pool bar open from 10am always snacks to offer throughout the day lunch is served here as well as main restaurant too. Cons. The hotel is run down in some areas which is expected as it’s a very old hotel and there are renovations currently taking place. But this didn’t effect us we didn’t hear any noise. The pool area around sunloungers was dirty. It didn’t really look like it had been cleaned the night previously sticky patches of spilled drinks. The restaurant could do with and extra section of hot food as we found queues started to pile up around dinner time. Yes there are cockroaches in the hotel however when visiting most areas on the Canary Islands it is expected. The stage where the entertainment takes place is stunning however the setup is a little akward with steps in places I felt someone could slip and fall. There was also quite a musty smell down in the stage area which can be off putting to some. On one of our days at the pool one of the bolted down umbrellas fell onto someone’s sunlounger. Luckily the guests Weren’t on the sunlounger at the time. However this was dealt with.

Overall I think you get what you pay for and that was exactly what we got. Thank you to all the staff at hotel Beatriz Costa and spa for making our holiday.

Needs pest Control

Just home after a week in this hotel we booked with on the beach the photos and spa looked lovely but when we arrived there was a strange smell of damp old smell the next day there were ants in the bathroom and wardrobe went to reception the cleaner put some pink spray down which seemed to work for a few days but came back the hotel was fully booked so we didn’t have a choice to move rooms the pool is very big and we really enjoyed it apart from windy days the food was nice the staff were friendly I won’t return until it’s refurbished

Overall ok.

Lovely hotel but we did find a cockroach. Rooms are a little dated but not really an issue. Staff very friendly. Food was ok but tended to be the same things day after day. My husband did find a chunk of chicken in his wrap that was raw. The only bar that was open throughout the day was by the pools which as a little inconvenient if you were inside. The entertainment was ok but absolutely ruined by out of control kids. I understand it’s kids holidays to but at 10:00, 10:30 at night when you have been trying to watch the adult entertainment and they’re still running round at top speed screaming and banging into people with drinks it need addressing.
