Barcalo Active not 4*
The hotel is 20/25 minutes from town and beach. We were all inclusive at water front side part of hotels , relaxed atmosphere. We stayed in room 1314 , large but needing some serious TLC , air con didn’t work and wardrobe doors would only move with brute force, complained but never fixed . Food was worst I’ve experienced on all inclusive, poor selection and only slightly warm . You can get a sunbed at 9am but can’t get a poolside drink until 10.30, bar not open. Entrance to hotel is nice but once you go beyond that to your room it’s not had any maintenance in years , very run down . Sorry unless your in the Royal level, that appears to be the staff’s focus, they get the chicken breast we got the rest of the chicken, 🙄 Not a 4 * hotel unless you’re in the Royal section.
10 days in the sun 🌞
On arrival reception staff very friendly and helpful, we stayed on the side with 2 pools , sea view . Room lovely very clean . We had no trouble getting sunbeds . The animation team work very hard and are great fun . We were glad we weren't staying active side as it is all walk ways and on a hill , hubby has mobility issues. The restaurant was fine, food alright but something just didn't click with me , Im not sure if it was just the presentation, felt more like a cafeteria than a restaurant. Always found something to eat we were AI. All the staff in the hotel are so very friendly and helpful. We had a nice relaxing 10 days in the sun

Fabulous holiday in Barcelo Active Resort
Excellent hotel in Costa Tequise for families couples and sport enthusiasts. Great location a little out from main area but easy bus services to areas all around. A must is a visit to the Gran Arricife Hotel top floor restaurant for coffee and cake and excellent views of the island. We enjoyed our visit to the Active so much in June that we came back in October!

Had a lovely week!
Overall a really lovely week away in the Active side of the hotel. On arrival we were dropped off in the Royal side as this is the only place that buses & vehicles can access. No clear instructions as to what side we were staying & what to do. Checked in & given wrist bands & then told to go over to the other side to leave our luggage until our rooms were ready. Although the staff were really friendly they didn’t explain how the two different sides worked & no mention of how to get pool towels. We did wait rather a long time for our rooms to be ready which was a shame as we paid extra for an early flight to enable us to make use of our first day. However, our room was worth waiting for. We had a junior suite no. 7106 which overlooked the pool area. Huge room & couldn’t fault. Kept brilliantly clean by the staff. The hotel is lovely, we soon negotiated the two sides & although we often decided to have pre dinner drinks in the Royal side we always opted to eat in the active side. Food was great, breakfast & lunch had so much choice & dinner was good too. Great drinks too, many of the spirits were branded. Good wine which was a bonus! The entertainment every night was brilliant, far better than most hotels we’ve stayed in. The only criticism we have is there is no outside bar at either hotels & with the evening weather warm it was disappointing that there wasn’t a better atmosphere for those pre or after dinner drinks. Costa Teguise is a really lovely resort & although we are Playa Blanca fans usually we loved CT & would definitely go back. It’s a bit of a treck to walk from the hotel into the main resort but there is a bus if needed. We also caught the 03 bus into Arecife & Puerto Del Carmen. We enjoyed our stay, would we return? Probably not as would prefer to stay closer to the main resort, although the hotel is not the reason why we wouldn’t come back. Please also be aware that the hotel is a fitness oriented resort. While we were there there were groups using the facilities, not sure if they were staying but large groups of teenagers were noisy!! But, we enjoyed our stay & the pros definitely outweighed the cons.
