Apartamentos Santa Rosa

Second time visiting, some honest opinions. Check-in is efficient and painless. The rooms are lovely, some really nice touches. Housekeeping service is good, towel changes on each day when housekeeping operates. Some maintenance issues in the room (but no different to 5* places we have stayed at). The rooms have been refurbished a few years back and are light and spacious. Not much in the way of cooking or dining equipment, but then most people either choose half board or dine out. The balcony in our room was too small for the furniture and could not accommodate the sunbeds properly so sadly we could not use them. But the pool area has lots of sunbeds, with a large stack of spares presumably for high season use. Here's where some possible improvements could be made. The pool is cold - bizarrely so. We holiday in the Canaries in September quite a lot, and this is the coldest pool I can recall. About 3° colder than sea temperature,and even after a full day of sun, doesn't get much warmer. Secondly, please enforce the "no reserving beds" rule. There are loads of beds but very few umbrellas and they are all fixed in place. Maddening to see people reserve the beds with umbrellas (at presumably seven o'clock in the morning) and not use them until two o'clock in the afternoon. Or please Santa Rosa -provide moveable umbrellas? Thirdly, the number of smokers at the pool and the pool bar was enough to warrant having a smoking and no smoking area.

You need to take care with room choice. Some rooms are over the indoor pool / gym, which is used as the local leisure centre. Those rooms also face the main road just outside the hotel. I would have been upset to have one of those rooms. The indoor pool / gym - whilst advertised as a hotel facility - really isn't. It feels like your small town leisure centre and you have to book in advance, along with dozens of school kids and local people using the facilities.

There are no pool towels provided so factor that into your packing list or buy when you get there. Pool bar prices are still very reasonable - €3.50 for a jarra, cheap burgers, salads etc. There is no evening entertainment and the pool bar closes early, so not a place for people who like to watch singers or other acts. The grounds are lovely, well maintained, and the whole place is very relaxed and relaxing.

All in all, a very good value set of apartments, ideal for pool lounging and a good base to explore the island if you hire a car. Highly recommended.

Just returned home from a 10 day stay at Santa Rosa, absolutely beautiful complex very clean, we stayed in a 2 bed bungalow opposite the park and pool which was ideal for my 6 year old little girl, she could play on the park with friends she had made and was always in eyesight even though the complex felt very safe, bungalows were spotless and very spacious comfortable beds. We spent most of our days around the pool absolutely no fighting for sunbeds we were a party of 10 and always managed to get some. The pool is lovely it is salt water but my girl was in there all day didn’t bother her. We were self catering but used the pool bar in the day for snacks and drinks very reasonably priced, some lovely bars and restaurants close by then the main square about a 10-15 min stroll down we tended to get a taxi back for around €3.50. Lovely holiday would highly recommend for families and couples thank you Santa Rosa.

Just got back from a week here, I emailed the hotel after booking it requesting a ground floor apartment due to mobility issues, which they said they would do their best with. On arrival we found we had been allocated a one bedroom ground floor bungalow, very close to the pool, cafe and restaurant. The bungalow was excellent, bed comfortable, bathroom equipped for disabilities, as was the bungalow itself with extremely wide doors for disability access, the air conditioning was superb. The towels were beautifully white and soft and housekeeping was excellent. All the staff were wonderfully helpful, with smiles on their faces at all times. The breakfasts were excellent, but we did not eat in the restaurant on an evening, as we preferred to go out to the numerous excellent restaurants in an evening. We did have a problem with a blockage in our bathroom at one point, but this was dealt with promptly and efficiently. The grounds were kept excellently maintained and the pools and surrounding areas were cleaned early every morning. The complex itself is fantastically thought out for mobility issues and getting about the complex itself and the surrounding area with mobility scooters or wheelchairs is a breeze. We cannot recommend this complex enough, it is good value for money, clean and welcoming in every aspect, and we will have no hesitation in returning.
