Quick summary - Very nice hotel, nice pools, good food, peaceful location, and good entertainment. It’s ideal for families, but perhaps less suitable for people wanting nightlife within walking distance.
Whether it's for you depends on what's important to you, so I'll explain in more detail below.
Location - It's a quiet location. The beach is a 20–30-minute walk away down some steep steps or via the road. I believe the hotel provides a free bus, but it's not something we used. There aren't really any bars or activities in the immediate local area. San Agustin Shopping Centre is about 10 minutes away by taxi (around €4) and has quite a few shops and a couple of bars. We tended to go a bit further to Playa del Inglés (around €8), which has a very busy market and is much livelier. If you go, check out Mulligan's Irish Pub, which has nightly singers and bands.
Pools - There's one large pool, one smaller pool, and a toddler pool. All are very nice (not freezing like some others!), and the main pool has three slides. Inflatables are not allowed, which was a negative for us, although others may see this as a positive. There seemed to be a lifeguard on duty at all times, and the slides are supervised.
Sunbeds – Ah, the most stressful part of any holiday: getting a sunbed! Let's start with the positives. There are LOADS of sunbeds, so you'll never struggle to get one. There's a huge amount of space, so you can easily find a spot in the sun no matter what time you surface in the morning. The pool area doesn't open until 09:00, so there's no need to get up at 07:00 to secure one. There's a decent amount of space around the pool, although these spots go very quickly. We arrived just before 09:00 and always got a poolside sunbed, if not necessarily in the ideal spot.
Now for the negatives. Firstly, there are only a tiny number of parasols, and they're fixed in place. If you're poolside, chances are you'll have no shade, which isn't ideal with children. Just beyond the pool there is a large grass area where you can find shade under a tree, so you'll probably find yourself moving about during the day. The other negative is that many of the sunbeds can't be adjusted between sitting up and lying down. We often found ourselves hunting for one of the adjustable ones (we always found some!). It's not a major issue because, ultimately, there are loads of sunbeds. It's just a little annoying, and something the hotel should look to fix.
Food and drink – The All Inclusive food was good overall. Each meal had the usual array of hot and cold, sweet and savoury, and vegetarian options. The breakfast omelettes were very good. There are also snacks available at the pool bar during the day (burgers, hot dogs, chips, etc.).
Drinks-wise, there’s a variety of imitation cocktails and you can pay for premium cocktails. The beer was disappointing –it’s supposed to be Amstel but it tasted very weak indeed. On a more positive note, you can at least self-serve with the beer rather than querying at the bar.
Entertainment – During the day there are regular activities, including volleyball, water polo, and darts. We only did the latter, as the water sports tended to be very busy. In the evening there's a mini-disco for the kids until 21:00, followed by an evening show, which varied each night. The karaoke was a bit of a disaster as no one could hear the singers (or maybe that was a positive?). There were a few other shows that were decent, including a quiz and a family-friendly burlesque show. We would have liked to see a professional singer or artist on one or two nights, and we ended up going into Playa del Inglés for that.
Staff – All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The team on reception gave us lots of useful information about the local area. Ordering a taxi at reception was very easy, even when requiring a minibus.
Rooms – Our room was set up for two adults and a child. The "double" bed was actually two singles pushed together, which is what I've come to expect these days. The single bed was a sofa bed that could be converted into a double. It had a proper mattress, so it was comfortable. Towels were changed daily, and the maid was lovely! The rooms had air conditioning, which was decent, if not amazing.
Wifi – Really good, both inside and out. I regularly sat on a sunbed and steamed youtube videos without any buffering.
Overall, we'd happily return. It's a great family hotel with good food, pools, and entertainment, but if you're looking for lively nightlife within walking distance, you'll probably find the location a little too quiet.
We have had a brilliant stay here at the abora interclub. The hotel is spotlessly clean and you see staff always ensuring that the areas are clean. The food is varied and plentiful with themed nights. We found the foods well labeled. Our children loved the slides and splash park and they played football every night. The drinks were very good, we weren’t premium but found the drinks good quality. Our room was cleaned every day and fresh towels available. The air con was very good and welcomed in this heat! What really makes this hotel great is the staff. The bar staff are always friendly and smiling. The entertainment team are first class, the shows they put on at night were spectacular! In particular they did a Greatest Showman/moulin Rouge show one night which was amazing, with some amazing choreography. We would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be coming back!
Very pleasant stay, spacious rooms. Pools lovely. Downside not close to shops and bars unless you take taxi but we didn't feel the need to go out as everything we needed was at the hotel. Animation team great, especially Hugo and Ines. No lifts, steps everywhere. Wasn't a problem but our daughter who is autistic is very cautious on stairs so takes longer to get anywhere. Tattooist onsite so I have booked in on my last day to have a tattoo. Shops on site. Can get food and drink 24 hours a day. We arrived late so were still able to get food at the snack bar.
Had a great time at Abora Interclub Atlantic. Food was great, plenty of choice. Snack bar also very good & topped up regularly. Pool was very good with plenty of sunbeds. Very clean & tidy throughout hotel & restaurant. The grounds are very well kept. Travelled as family of 6 & had 2 family suites. Staff very polite & welcoming (& hard working) Sad to be leaving - wish we'd booked for longer!. Would definitely recommend.
A wonderful hotel, with great staff and equally great facilities. Our room (2103) was conveniently located in close proximity to the pool, reception, restaurant and shops on site. The atmosphere, during the day and at night time was expectational. The animation team worked tirelessly to ensure all guests were entertained during their stay. The entire site was clean and tidy and the rooms were cleaned every day. There were a few bugs on the odd occasion, but that's to be expected for the location. The road outside of the hotel can be quite busy during the night, but didn't disturb our peaceful nights sleep. Overall, great value for money and would definitely return.
