- Gloria Palace San Agustin Thalasso and Hotel

Partly renovated in 2007, this hotel comprises a total of 346 double rooms spread over 9 floors. Facilities include a lobby with a 24-hour reception desk and lifts. There are also 2 bars, a nightclub, a TV room and an air-conditioned à la carte restaurant with a separate non-smoking area. A conference room, public Internet terminal (additional fee), room, laundry and medical services and a car park round of the hotel's facilities and guests may relax in the complex's bewitching grounds.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
I thought Gloria Palace was fantastic. We stayed in a junior suite, wow the size of the bed. Loved that if towels were put on the sunbeds before 9am they was all removed and put in reception. The food selection was lovely. The only negative I found was the room didn't have a full length mirror. We are planning to go back next year, this time for 10 nights rather than a week :)
Hotel has great views. Loved the roof top pool area as it was much more chilled and quiet (worth noting it’s. €21 a day for 2 beds). Towels are €10 each and you get that back when you return.
Location was good, great views over San Agustín and easy access to everywhere.
Bus network is good we got the bus to Porto de Morgan, and Mas Palomas. Circa €2 per person.
The only let down is the hotel was the food. We did half board and switched to lunch instead of dinner. The food was average and no variety.
Overall great hotel with lovely staff
Hotel itself was clean & the reception/caretakers were lovely and professional. The wait staff and caretakers were exceptional and they definitely stand out. We stayed in the suite room (can’t remember the exact name but the one above the standard) which was also spacious & aesthetically pleasing.
That being said, this is undoubtedly the worst “all-inclusive” package we have ever had the displeasure of experiencing. Never in my years have I had to pay so much out of pocket for things that would be considered standard in more European hotels. They have the audacity to call it “all inclusive plus” too! You have to pay for more than 70% of the snack bar menu, including salads which mind you, you can just make for free during lunch likely? You only have about 5 cocktails or so included, not even a mojito and I don’t think they take custom orders. The drinks are also made so inconsistently too, either extremely watered down or too sickly sweet. The bar, animation and kids staff are quite lacklustre to add. We were actually going to eat at their restaurant (which we knew wasn’t included before) but then the penny dropped when I saw they were charging €50 for lamb and chips! Went straight back down to the hit and miss dinner buffet instead.
The room itself, while lovely to look at, is very impractical. A warning for those who like a full length mirror, there isn’t one. There isn’t much storage near the sink area to put your toothbrushes, skincare etc bits on either. There’s only one plug socket on either side of the main bed.
The hotel grounds are quite boring also. I don’t know what I was expecting but for the a hotel to have over 1000+ rooms, there were only 2 pools and a small “splash park” for the kids.
Unfortunately, we wouldn’t stay here again. Our daughter enjoyed it which is why I’ve given 2 stars, but bear in mind she’s only 3 so it’s not hard to keep them happy.
We stayed at the Gloria in June, I’ve got to say it is a beautiful hotel. We had a 7th floor room with stunning views. Everywhere is the hotel is spotless, restaurant's, bars, pools, areas, toilets including the pool toilets. Some reviews we read saying the rooms were dirty, certainly not the case for us. Everyday we put out the door hanging sign for the maid so she knew we wasn’t in the room, when back it had been done. The food was very good standard lots of choice including grilled meat and fish and a carved meat in the evening. Daniel in the buffet restaurant was super attentive and always very happy. The rooftop is stunning, although you do have to pay up there but definitely worth it. Free bus to neighbouring towns which we made use of. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Very disappointing experience overall.
If you’re travelling with young children, elderly relatives, or anyone with mobility issues, I’d think twice. The hotel only has three lifts, one of which was out of service, and we were trapped in one of the remaining lifts on two separate occasions.
There was also a real lack of shade around the pool. There weren’t enough umbrellas, so guests would take them while others were at lunch. Despite being a group of seven with two babies, we were told we could only have one umbrella per table, leaving the children exposed to the sun.
These are simple issues that could be resolved by repairing the lifts and providing more shaded areas. Tourism depends on people having positive experiences, and unfortunately this wasn’t one. To top it all off, the airport experience on the journey home was equally poor, leaving us with little desire to return.
