The hotel is excellent in every respect and maintains a very high standard. Its location is wonderful, and the beach is absolutely beautiful.
A great hotel in a lovely location by the beach. The hotel and facilities were clean, and staff were kind and friendly. There was a great variety of food and drink options at the restaurant and pool bar. We particularly enjoyed the aqua gym and entertainment provided by Anthea who did a great job bringing the energy, she was incredibly friendly and an asset to the hotel! Thank you Anthea
Our only criticism was the dress code for men, which for us was not communicated - it is detailed on their website but buried in menus. As such, I did not bring any trousers with me and was denied entry to dinner, and had to borrow a pair of trousers. This was very disappointing and to us didn’t make any sense. We fully understand dressing smart for dinner, but shorts can be smart, and this bizarre rule actually had the opposite effect: men were either all wearing the same borrowed trousers, or casual clothing such as tracksuit bottoms which somehow were acceptable, but smart shorts were not. They should really consider changing this rule as it would put us off returning.
Overall we had a lovely stay, thank you :)
Following a visit with my mother last year, I returned in June this year to the Don Gregory with my husband.
Once again we booked the very impressive duplex suite. This room type is on the top floor with views over the pools, beach and the Maspalomas dunes. It has a proper bathroom downstairs and an open bathroom upstairs in the bedroom .There are tea and coffee making facilities, a fridge containing a welcome mini bar and water replenished daily. It also has a fabulous terrace with chairs and sunbeds looking out over the amazing dunes.
It is a small hotel with a big personality, we loved the pool bar with friendly service overlooking playa de las Burras. The food at lunchtime, made to order was amazing, from freshly made pizza to gambas al ajillo , papas arrugadas and entrecôte with chimichurri.
The restaurant food is also very good serving a good selection of quality food. This week I’ve enjoyed gazpacho, poke bowls, sushi, paella, rabbit and pasta in a wheel of cheese! Breakfast was also very good, my favourite being pan con tomate with jamon or smoked salmon and scrambled egg. We especially enjoyed the fresh made juices. If I could suggest one thing, when it is a seafood night ( which is amazing), perhaps do a vegetable paella or vegetable pasta dish for those who cannot eat seafood. As my husband struggled on one evening as everything was fish and seafood, of which he cannot eat.
As a keen cyclist, my husband always brings his bike to the canaries. This room type and hotel , is well suited for riders. They have little advertised cycling room, which it’s very well kitted out with stands, tools, lockers and a bike wash station. Very professional indeed.
To summarise, it is a great hotel, in a great location, with fabulous views This room has a proper bathroom down stairs and an open bathroom upstairs in the bedroom. We are already booked to come back in March!
Hotel Don Gregory was the best choice we have ever made. Exceptionale location, very easy Access to sea, amazing food and services.
We paid a significant amount for a Premium All-Inclusive holiday, but unfortunately our experience fell well below the standard we expected. Firstly, we were disappointed to find that vaping was not permitted within the hotel. The only designated smoking area was a small enclosed space where guests were smoking cigarettes, as we have stopped smoking, we did not feel comfortable vaping in this area and instead had to leave the hotel each time we wished to vape. We were also unaware that men were required to wear full-length trousers for dinner. This information was not made clear when booking. My partner had to borrow a pair of trousers from the hotel on the first evening, and we then had to spend part of our holiday purchasing suitable trousers, which was both inconvenient and an unexpected expense. on our first night we were woken at approximately 3.30 am by a dripping noise. We discovered that the air conditioning unit had broken and was leaking into our room. After reporting this to reception, we had no option but to pack all our belongings, move rooms and unpack again. While we appreciated the bottle of sparkling wine and four chocolates as an apology, this did not make up for the disruption to our holiday. A few days later, matters worsened when we became trapped in the lift for approximately 30 minutes before being rescued. This was a very distressing experience as my partner doesn't like enclosed spaces, when the maintenance guys got us out, we were kinda expecting management or someone from reception to be there ti make sure we were ok, but no. We also noticed a significant decline in the level of service after the first couple of days. Initially, the staff could not do enough for us, but after that it appeared that guests who were not on an all-inclusive package received priority, presumably because they were spending additional money on food and drinks. We repeatedly noticed that our drinks were not filled to the top, whereas paying guests consistently received full measures. This made us feel like second-class guests despite having already paid for the Premium All-Inclusive package. Overall, we are extremely disappointed with our holiday. We paid a considerable amount of money expecting a high-quality, relaxing experience, but instead encountered multiple issues, unnecessary inconvenience and poor service.
