Puerto Azul

Wow this hotel is amazing the views are out of this world,food is really nice and staff are great and friendly plus work really hard especially the activity staff.if there’s any little niggles the entertainment at night could of been better,3 nights on the run the activity team did shows which they did well but there’s only so much pretending to sing you can watch and could maybe a little more on the drinks side on the all inclusive you could have other than that it was brilliant,even though I’m in my late 50’s still went on the water slides😁.we will definitely be back again and probably pay extra for the private pool.

We had a mixed experience at Servatur Puerto Azul. There are some definite positives, but also a number of issues that affected our overall enjoyment of the stay.

The positives

The rooms were clean, and the food was generally fresh with a good standard of quality. Drinks were reasonable, and the taxi access directly outside the hotel was very convenient. Having a SPAR nearby was also a real bonus for picking up essentials. One little highlight was the very nice ice cream available at reception!

The negatives

The layout of the hotel was confusing, with rooms often difficult to locate, two separate sets of lifts and signage that wasn't always easy to follow. The lifts were frequently so busy that getting into one could be a challenge, which became frustrating.

The number of children around the pools was another issue. While I appreciate that this is a family-friendly hotel, balls were constantly being kicked around the pool areas, and the infinity pool often felt more like a children's paddling pool. It was difficult to enjoy or even get into the pool at times because of how busy and boisterous it was. Although the hotel has adult-only pools, I feel there should also be an adults-only section in the dining room for guests who want a quieter meal.

Children were often allowed to roam freely around the dining areas, pools and lifts without much apparent supervision. This could be disruptive and, at times, raised concerns about safety.

The pool bar and lunch area also needed more attention. Used plates and leftover food were often left lying around for too long, attracting pigeons and seagulls.

Unfortunately, the staff didn't come across as particularly warm or engaging. We found the service lacking the friendliness and personality that we've experienced at other hotels, which made the atmosphere feel less welcoming than expected. The evening entertainment was also fairly unremarkable and nothing particularly exciting.

Room security was a particular concern

On two consecutive days, I had a cleaner unlock the door connecting our room to the neighbouring room, which was occupied by strangers. This was understandably concerning from a privacy and security perspective. On another occasion, someone I was travelling with returned to their room to find the front door merely pulled shut, without having properly latched or locked.

These incidents left us feeling uneasy, and I believe room security and staff procedures need to be reviewed carefully.

Overall

Servatur Puerto Azul has some good features, particularly the clean rooms, fresh food, reasonably priced drinks and convenient location for taxis and nearby shops. However, the confusing layout, overcrowded lifts and pools, lack of a peaceful dining option, slow clearing of the poolside dining areas and, most importantly, the concerns around room security all detracted from our stay.

There is potential for this to be a very good hotel, but improvements to organisation, service, supervision in communal areas and security procedures would make a significant difference. For us, the positives didn't entirely outweigh the negatives.
