Great price, clean well kept hotel.
Really pleased with Riu Papayas in Gran Canaria.
The hotel was clean, well kept, easy to get around, nice room with a bit of a pool view, room cleaned every day if you wish. Special thank you to Pacqui who looked after impeccably :)
Beds are really comfortable, large singles/small doubles x 2 in our room.
We went in mid September and there were always plenty of sunbeds around the pool.
24 hours food and drink all inclusive. We always found food we liked, plenty of variation and always fresh. Special thanks to Cristina who always smiled and had a little time to chat :)
There are a few different areas to lounge around, some busier than others which for me was perfect.
There is a gym, not huge but plenty for me to exercise.
When we were there, it was noticeably an older crowd, mostly 50's plus. A few younger people, but mainly older.
We would definitely go back there and may well do next year.
Highly recommend RIU Papayas.

Excellent stay at a great, modern hotel
We stayed at the RIU Papayas for 7 nights in September of 2026.
We waited no time at all to check into our room as we had an early flight. We were able to have some food while waiting, and we received notification via text that the room was ready.
The room was a great size and was exceptionally clean with a balcony. The air con and ceiling fan were appreciated.
The hotel is immaculately clean throughout and is modern with friendly staff who are always on hand to help.
We were very impressed by the quality of the food on offer which is provided at the main restaurant along with a reduced menu at the pool side snack bar. We also ate in the oriental restaurant which was great for a change there is also a Spanish restaurant on site which we did not eat it but was popular. You do have to book your place for these two restaurants on the app which are buffet style restaurants.
The only negative about the food is that there were no allergens or signage for sandwiches and wraps at lunch time or desserts throughout the day. Guests therefore did not know what sandwiches or wraps they were eating or what allergens were present in them or in the desserts. This was a big oversight on RIUs behalf.
The pool area was very clean and there were loungers available around the pool, in quieter areas and in adults only areas. Overall, the hotel has a calm atmosphere. The animation team kept guests entertained throughout the day where people wanted to take part.
There were shows and quizzes in the evenings, the animation team shows were excellent, some other performers were not to our taste. With the town on your doorstep, and the beach 15 minutes away, there are plenty of entertainment options around.
Overall, the staff really made our experience that much better with how accommodating and friendly they were towards us.
We would definitely return to RIU Papayas.

Excellent hotel
The hotel was spotless, rooms lovely and the housekeeper did a good job. The food was very good even for me being a vegetarian. The only thing I could think of to improve would be the quality of the spirits. We had Brandy and Amaretto both were weak and not very tasty.

Papayas Sept 2026
Lovely trip. However maintenance is slipping! We had a plug less sink in our bathroom, shower head that only stayed in place with a flannel rammed in situ and sun parasols that should’ve been fixed not bodged. And yes we had informed reception!
