Second time here but probably my last
Reception very warm and friendly said our room should be ready for 1.30 and they would ring us Given a Prosecco welcome drink at the bar 12.50 called to say room is ready Room was fine as expected but looking out onto o a rooftop (see photo) and then discovered that at no time during the day does the sun reach the balcony (in fact 1 inch away all day) if you like to relax in your balcony “with sunshine “ do not stay in room 2059!!
Negatives Minibar= I asked early in the day for the mini bar to be emptied as I did not want to consume any of the contents but I would like to keep my water in the fridge That evening when it had not been done I asked reception again and they said they could not take the products away as it would look like I used them !! I was advised to empty it myself and put them to the side and before I leave put them back I find this ridiculous suggestion. What if someone had an alcohol problem….
Tea/coffee I asked at reception about tea/ coffee not being replenished and they said they only did it every other day!! Wow the amount of money I spend here and they skim on a few sachets of coffee….
Room 2059 no sun on balcony shade all day looking out onto a large ugly grey flat roof
Info about the hotel says No Shorts on men at evening meals , lots of people with shorts on …. Is it allowed or not who knows ??? I asked about this after multiple evening meals and was told that since “pride” people were not happy with this they had relaxed the rule….
Check out We’re we’re being no picked up at approx 7am so when to check out at 6.45am we were told breakfast is open early for the early checkouts. It would have been nice to have this info before check out time ..
Good points As the last time I stayed here (May 2024)staff were all friendly welcoming overall excellent The safe is now free which was not the case in my previous stay(see review 16th May 2024)
The hotel and all around the grounds are spotless.
Overall the hotel is very good which is why I went back But the balcony and view have put me off ever going again.

Fabulous Quality Hotel - Outstanding Service
We spent two weeks at the Riu Palace Maspalomas. Our first time at this hotel. We have to say the staff from top to bottom were very engaging and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and often the staff anticipated our needs and stepped in to assist. Brilliant. The rooms were a good size as was the balcony with stunning views over the dunes. The beds were super comfortable, everything was spotless. The showers provided amazing hot water with all shampoo, shower gel, conditioner and hand cream provided. The rooms were cleaned daily and towels refreshed at turn down if needed in the evenings. The food was varied and great quality. There was something for everyone. We loved it. So many staff to acknowledge and we can't remember everyone's names but Mateo was a stand out character full of smiles and humour and Antonio at reception was super friendly as we were leaving. We will be back !

Perfect stay in Riu Palace
I had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Riu Palace Maspalomas. The hotel is truly exquisite, offering elegant facilities, impeccable cleanliness, and a stunning location overlooking the beautiful Maspalomas dunes. The staff were exceptionally friendly, attentive, and always willing to help with a smile. The food was outstanding, with an excellent variety of fresh and delicious dishes every day. The atmosphere throughout the hotel was relaxing and luxurious, making it the perfect place to unwind. I will definitely return (as I did in the past two decades already) and would like to thank the entire team for making my stay such a memorable experience.

Beautiful elegant hotel
Based in a prime location overlooking the sand dunes it’s a beautiful hotel with lovely staff . Special shout out to Adam , what a lovely guy ! Lovely modern rooms with a great power shower . Must say we found the choice of food and quality to be the best we’ve had in any Riu we’ve visited Food in our room due to a late arrival was a nice touch along with the fruit , Prosecco and little flower arrangement. Nice to see no stupid o’clock bed hogging and smoke free on the sun beds . Lunch time in the el oasis restaurant has beautiful views , good food selection at reasonable prices and tasty food , shame we never looked in before our departure day ! (Didn’t expect it to be so nice ) To us dinner in a hotel involves making an effort to dress up , personally feel it’s a shame to allow shorts and tee shirts in the evening but understand that’s what some people prefer and why the hotel has gone this way . Think in the past it was older clientele but would say now , quite an equal mix of young and old . Would certainly return in the future

From the moment we arrived, the staff couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly. Particular thanks to Brenda, Salim and Juan at the lobby bar. Hotel is spotless and food, drinks no complaints whatsoever. Great location ideal for a walk to some bars, etc. Minor gripe smoking in the outside lobby bar next to non smoking tables wasn’t good and pool tools changed at 3pm was too early before it closed. Other than that we had a great time
