A Wonderful Honeymoon Stay with a Few Minor Drawbacks

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for our honeymoon. Overall, we were very happy with our stay, although there were a few minor drawbacks.

The rooms were clean, although the first room we were given had some traces of mould on the ceiling. It was also located on one of the lower floors, so it was quite dark. However, after speaking to a lovely lady at reception, we were immediately moved to another room on the eighth floor. Our new room was cleaned every day, and the bathroom was spotless, modern and very attractive, with a wonderful rainfall shower.

The hotel is decorated in a beautiful and stylish way. Only the corridors on some of the lower floors look slightly dated and could use some renovation. Apart from that, the entire hotel was kept exceptionally clean. The dining area was cleaned continuously during meals, and tables were quickly cleared and reset with fresh plates and cutlery. Nothing was sticky, and there was never food scattered around the buffet.

The food was very good, with enough variety for everyone to find something they liked, although after a few days some dishes did begin to repeat. There was plenty of fresh fruit, delicious freshly squeezed juices, well-prepared meat and a wide selection of fish. The food was also beautifully presented in attractive serving dishes.

The swimming pools and their surroundings looked lovely. We especially liked the upper pool next to the dining area, which had a beautiful view of the ocean and the promenade. The hotel’s hillside location is a major advantage, as the upper floors and the dining area offer wonderful views of the sea. The garden is also stunning and very well maintained by the staff. It adds a great deal of charm to the hotel and makes the whole setting feel even more special.

Fortunately, guests did not seem to reserve all the sun loungers early in the morning, so we could always find somewhere to relax. The only thing that could be improved in this area is the showers beside the lower pool, as they look rather old and uninviting.

Another advantage is the hotel’s separate exit leading directly towards the promenade and the ocean. The hotel is situated in the livelier part of Playa del Inglés, but this did not bother us at all. Everything was close by, and we enjoyed the feeling that there was always something happening nearby.

The evening entertainment was interesting and varied, including live musicians, dancers, acrobats and synchronised swimming performances. However, we often preferred to go out in the evening because the surrounding area was so lively.

One drawback was the upper bar on the seventh floor. In the evenings, it seemed to prioritise outside guests, while those wearing all-inclusive wristbands were sometimes overlooked. It was practically impossible to find a seat on the terrace with a view of the stage because the tables were usually reserved for outside guests. The area also became quite crowded, which was another reason why we preferred to go into town.

The all-inclusive drinks selection was acceptable. The cocktails were made by a machine, served with crushed ice and were generally quite sweet. The beer was very good, and the other alcoholic drinks were served in generous measures.

A very special mention must go to Sara, who worked at the bar beside the lower pool. She created such a wonderful atmosphere and was always smiling, friendly and genuinely engaged with the guests. She regularly asked how we were doing, chatted with us and joked around. She is truly a fantastic person and a great asset to the hotel. We wish there were more people like her!

The rest of the staff were also excellent—friendly, helpful and professional. The reception team calmly explained everything and guided us whenever we had a problem. The housekeeping staff also did a wonderful job and always left our room spotlessly clean and smelling fresh.

We also really enjoyed the aqua aerobics sessions led by Tomek. He brought fantastic energy to every class and made everyone want to join in. He did an excellent job!

The main thing that disappointed us was that nobody informed us about the possibility of upgrading to the VIP package. Neither the travel agency nor the hotel explained that this option was available. We would gladly have paid for the upgrade, but by the time we discovered it existed, we had already been at the hotel for several days, so it no longer seemed worthwhile.

The difference between the standard all-inclusive package and the VIP option was considerable. VIP guests had access to a separate dining area located higher up, with an even better view and a wider, more varied selection of food. They also had an exclusive terrace overlooking the lower pool, with both sunny and shaded areas, as well as a jacuzzi. There was also a separate drinks menu with a larger selection of cocktails and other additional benefits. It is a shame that we were not told about the upgrade when we arrived, as we would definitely have chosen it.

Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay despite a few minor issues. We are happy that we chose this hotel for our honeymoon and will remember our time there very fondly.

Much worse than expected (mouse incident included)

The hotel was a huge disappointment and definitely did not meet our expectations. Considering how expensive this hotel was, we expected a much higher standard. We've stayed in significantly better hotels for a similar price, so the overall value for money was very poor. The food was terrible. The meat was mediocre at best, and the overall selection was very limited. We both had stomach aches every single day. The service was very inconsistent. The lobby staff were generally fine, although the receptionist who checked us in failed to provide us with a lot of important information. On the other hand, some of the restaurant staff were unfriendly, as were the employees at the pool bar. Not all of the staff spoke English. One day, a member of the hotel staff came to our room and tried to explain something, but we could only understand that he wanted us to leave the room. Only after asking at reception did we find out that there was a water leak in the rooms below ours and they needed to inspect our room. What was even stranger was that staff would sometimes let themselves into our room using a key card without knocking first. After that, we started locking the door from the inside whenever we were in the room. Getting drinking water in this hotel was unbelievably difficult. During meals, you had to hope that someone would come over and ask if you wanted water. When we asked for it ourselves, one waitress simply informed a waiter, who came over with an attitude and told us that we could serve ourselves. The only problem was that you couldn't serve yourself water. To make matters worse, we found out that guests on the higher all-inclusive tiers get bottled water provided in their rooms, while we did not, which is absolutely absurd. In the end, we had to buy our own bottled water at a local supermarket. We were placed in the right wing of the hotel, which felt completely neglected compared to the rest of the property. This area is designated for the "standard" all-inclusive package, while the hotel has two higher all-inclusive tiers. In the sections of the building reserved for those higher-tier guests, the air conditioning worked perfectly normally. Meanwhile, in our corridor, the AC barely worked, and the elevator was so hot that it was hard to breathe. Because of this stark contrast (among other things), we generally felt like second-class guests. The pool itself was fine, and there were usually some sunbeds available. However, there were nowhere near enough umbrellas. In my case, it was impossible to spend much time by the pool because there was simply no shade available, and the heat became unbearable. The daytime entertainment was quite poor. In the evenings there was live music every day – some performances were good, while others were not. What was particularly annoying was that the hotel often played separate music through the speakers at the same time as the live performance, creating an unpleasant mix of sounds. Another strange rule was that the pool bar required guests to wear a T-shirt. Who thinks it's a good idea to make people put on a shirt just to order a drink at a pool bar? Every single time, it meant trying to pull a T-shirt over skin that was sweaty and covered in sunscreen. The cocktails were undrinkable. The all-inclusive drinks were made with cheap artificial syrups instead of fresh ingredients. And finally, the best part: on the second morning, we woke up to find a mouse in our room. Seriously. I'm attaching a photo in case anyone finds that hard to believe. To end on a positive note, the rooms and the hotel grounds were generally clean. The staff at the lobby bar were genuinely friendly and professional. We also appreciated that the hotel showed the World Cup matches in the lobby, which created a great atmosphere and gave guests a chance to watch the games together.

Mixed Opinions

We recently stayed at this hotel and had mixed feelings about our experience.

On arrival, we were really impressed. The hotel is beautiful, the aesthetics are stunning, and the location is excellent. We arrived in the evening, so we checked into our room and headed straight to dinner. Our first impression was very positive.

The following day, however, after exploring the hotel and spending time by the pool, we started to feel disappointed. There was virtually no daytime entertainment or atmosphere. There was no music around the pool, and it felt very quiet throughout the day.

One of our biggest frustrations was the lack of snacks. Unless you were there exactly when they were put out around lunchtime, there was very little available until the next serving a few hours later. Snacks weren't readily available throughout the day, and after 6pm there was nothing like crisps, nuts, or light bites to enjoy with a drink while watching the evening entertainment. On the positive side, the drinks selection was excellent, and we had no complaints there.

The housekeeping was another letdown. It wasn't terrible, but it certainly wasn't what we'd expect from a four-star hotel. We had to complain after our room wasn't cleaned properly for two consecutive days. We were told it would receive a deep clean, but even after that, it still didn't meet the standard we expected.

Overall, if you're looking for a peaceful, quiet holiday or you're retired and simply want somewhere to relax, this hotel would probably suit you well. However, as a couple in our 30s, we found it very boring and repetitive, with very little going on during the day or evening. While we did appreciate that it was an adults-only hotel with no children, that alone wasn't enough to make us want to return.

Sadly, despite the beautiful surroundings and great location, we wouldn't choose to stay here again.

Unsure at first but then fell in love!

Unsure at first but then fell in love!

We arrived just as it was going dark. Booked unique. Lady on reception very nice. Gave us our bands and said go eat and we will book you in later. We didn’t get a drink on arrival and the only time we saw someone at the unique desk was when we were leaving I thought the hotel was tired but then … it stole my heart. Started to fall in love with everything! Location is perfect. Shops over the road and we loved the busyness of it all. The hotel is just delightful starting with every member of staff. Courteous and helpful. The buffet hall is incredible. At first glance there’s a section for hot food. section for salads, section for fruit/ ice cream. It doesn’t look enough but it was. Staff amazing clearing tables and just so polite! I’m a veggie and fussy but I always found something to eat. Unique breakfast in unique area is a must as are staff The rooms are big enough and very clean tho I have to admit some quirky things like the bedside table was just that. No drawers and my meds looked a mess on top. Loved the layers and nooks and crannies where you could sunbathe. Unique had its own section. Quite small but we always found somewhere to lie. Loved the jacuzzi and reading area. We found out ( unique) … You can fill in a form when you’d like maid to clean your room No towels on balcony If leaving late and you are unique, if ur room is free, they will let you stay in foc ( for us, till 6 pm) Wine on pump in both bar area and in the food hall. You get one meal in the Mediterranean restaurant next to buffet hall so don’t forget to book that too! For walking enthusiasts the walk along the sand dunes when you go out through the turnstile near large pool, straight onto beach and go right. It’s amazing. There’s a lighthouse you can Walk round foc in next bay. Well worth the steps! ( cooler walking by sea). You do pass two nudist beaches as a warning tho! So we left wanting more and may even go back in a few months As an add on Gran Canaria airport was quite efficient! Have a great holiday

Thanks corallium for a fab holiday. We will be back!
