- Cordial Mogan Playa

This holiday complex enjoys an enviable setting amidst the unspoilt, luxuriant valley of Mogan. The complex is located within easy access of a host of attractions in the area. Guests will find themselves just a short distance away from the picturesque fishing harbour and marina of Puerto Mogan. Shopping opportunities are also to be found nearby. The hotel is located just 200 metres away from links to the public transport network. This stunning resort represents a Canarian village, featuring 9 buildings which each enjoy a stunning architectural design. The apartments are beautifully appointed, offering a relaxing setting in which to unwind at the end of the day. Guests can enjoy a leisurely stroll throughout the resort's 10,000 m² sub-tropical garden area. The hotel offers a wide range of exemplary facilities and services.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
I've had to think long and hard about where to go with this review, because we have been to this hotel quite a few times now, and we can see the subtle things that a first time visitor may not pick up on, so bear with me if I meander a little.
Firstly, the hotel and the grounds, still as beautiful as ever. Every time we walk through the door, its like the weight of the world just lifts from our shoulders. The lobby and reception area are a joy. The pool area's and gardens equally stunning, and I would highly recommend anyone to take the time to thoroughly investigate the full space, from the hilltop walk (entrance directly opposite the spa), to all of the paths down around the suites, where there are many little doorways to the outside world, however you will need your room key card to gain access from the outside.
I found that in the main, the atmosphere was very relaxed and calm. I do however agree with a couple of the previous reviews, in that there a small few that did not respect the quiet nature of the top pool, and had children making quite a racket at times, although to be fair, the lifeguard did his utmost to politely suggest that they refrain, or indeed move to the lower pool, but they would instead wait for his shift to end, and then resume their activities.
The rooms were good, lovely large beds, good aircon if a little noisy, and a nice sized balcony that got lovely sun during the late afternoon and evening (Block 3). My only issue would be having to stand in the bath to shower, as I'm quite tall and broad, so between banging my head and my elbows, I found it less than ideal. I know that the suites have beautiful showers, and I was assured that there are plans to update all of the bathrooms in the near future, which would be a very good thing.
We had no issue at all with the food in the main restaurant, either at breakfast or at dinner. We found the offerings plentiful and very tasty. There have been some changes to the menu down at the small pool restaurant, and we did not enjoy the food here, but this was not a a major, issue as there are loads of very good places to eat lunch locally.
The gym is a nice size, and has enough equipment for a "Holiday" workout, though just a couple of more free weights would be ideal. Nit picking now I know.
We did not partake of the entertainment downstairs, but we did enjoy the upstairs bar and relaxing music, whether it be a guitar player, piano or otherwise. Very nice indeed. Also a special mention to Jesus who works at the upstairs bar. All of the staff were lovely, but Jesus goes that step further in that he offers a very genuine greeting every evening, makes the effort to remember the order and room number so that you are not repeating yourself every time you'd place an order. Small details that meant a lot to us in a busy hotel. I'm only sorry that we missed him before we left in order to thank him.
Ok I'll wrap up my ramblings, but suffice to say that we still love the Cordial Mogan, but there is that room for improvement, and we have highly recommended the hotel to others, some of whom are visiting later this year. We will return ourselves, but maybe after the upgrades to the rooms have been completed. The suites are no longer a viable option for us, as our daughter insists on growing up, so two hotel rooms seem the best option.
One more thing, though minor. I don't know if GDPR is the issue here, but it would be nice if upon returning, that you were greeted as a returning guest, as opposed to being asked if you'd been in the hotel before. Returning to the same hotel is an act of loyalty by any customer, and a simple welcome back would feel like an acknowledgment of such, and would be a very warm way greet a returning guest, instead of feeling like a stranger in a place that you know so well. I know that it may seem irrelevant, but such a simple gesture would leave a lasting impression, in that your repeated custom is valued enough to be noticed. Personal touches mean the most, and cost nothing.
Thank you Cordial. :)
The staff was really nice and quick especially a worker called Myron I liked Myron the most because he was talkative kind and put a lot of effort in his job
The rooms in the hotel were spacious & spotlessly clean. We had a pool view with a decent size balcony with table & 2 chairs The entire hotel including the pool areas were kept spotlessly clean by friendly staff . Pool towels are provided & we never had a problem getting a sunbed & parasol.! Two spacious pools Surrounded by lush greenery which extends inside the hotel with a small waterfall beautiful to sit & have a relaxing drink .There is a show each evening at 9.30 which is diferent each evening & good . After the show you can either stay in the bar area with a disco or sit outside the bar & enjoy the beautiful surroundings & waterfall. All the staff at the hotel are very friendly . The beach , Harbour , bars & restaurants are just a short walk away as is the bus station if you want to travel further . The beach beds & parasol are very reasonably priced . We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel & are planning to go again next year .
A good hotel with excellent facilities and customer service let down by cold food. This is not acceptable in a 4* hotel. I attended this hotel with an open mind having read previous similar reviews but unfortunately the food is lukewarm at best but sometimes cold.
The pool area and gardens are beautiful. The design of the hotel is excellent We never had any problem getting a sunbed with parasols. We used the quieter pool. Very little reserving of beds with towels thank goodness. Our rooms were ok. A little dated and overlooking the pedestrianised street. Had a problem with the shower but it was fixed immediately. Air con was effective but a little noisy. We requested rooms together and they were. A few English channels on the TV which is handy for the football. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Breakfast in the buffet was very good. We are early risers so had a relaxing table in the atrium area. Super choice of hot and cold options. Coffee brought to your table everything else self service from the buffet Dinner in the evening is 2 sittings with a set table allocation. As a 3 we were a little cramped by a pillar and one chair touching the next table. Some queues for food and sometimes it was not hot enough. A wide enough choice of options so something for everyone. We have eaten out on a couple of evenings. Water is chargeable, can’t comment on the wine/drink options as we don’t drink. White linen cloths and comfy chairs The hotel has lovely mix of nationalities and couples, families and multi generational guests. It’s just a few minutes walk down into the centre with a short cut from the gate near the family pool area. You will need your room card to access. The free WiFi is excellent Lunch can be purchased from the pool bars dress code is enforced. Cashless system so on your room account or on a card. The fresh pizzas were good as was the coffee. There is evening entertainment but wasn’t our thing tbh. The lobby bar area is lovely and relaxing. Our party had a birthday, balloons and a card and a bottle of fizz in it room was a lovely touch I am reliably informed that the gym was good . Spa looked lovely There is a supermarket over the road Quite a few of the restaurants in town are closed in July. Beach sunbeds are reasonable cost You will need your room key card to get through the doors throughout the hotel Overall a lovely week here
