Patalavaca and Arguineguin

Enjoying fantastic views to the Atlantic Ocean, this modern hotel is situated just a stone's throw from three picturesque and beautiful beaches on the southern coast of Gran Canaria. The village of Arguineguín is just a few steps away, Puerto Rico, Meloneras Beach and Playa de Mogán Harbour are within easy reach. The international airport of Gran Canaria is about 45 km away.

Really enjoyed our stay, with a couple of minor downsides

This is the fourth Radisson hotel I’ve stayed at, and once again they’ve maintained their standards very well. I’m not entirely sure if it deserves a full five stars, but I am pretty sure its one of the best hotels in Gran Canaria, certainly one of the top options in the Arguineguín area. We were pleasantly surprised by the heated outdoor pool, which we didn't known about in advance, and the jacuzzi on our balcony was a fantastic touch. The room itself was a good size and very comfortable. We stayed on a breakfast-only basis, so I can’t comment much on the dining overall, but the staff were attentive most of the time. They were helpful in arranging taxis when needed and provided useful advice whenever we asked. If I had to mention a downside, the housekeeping wasn’t the best during our stay. They mainly just made the bed and replaced the towels, but most days our coffee cups and glasses weren’t cleaned, so we ended up washing them ourselves.

Exceptional stay

Exceptional experience at this hotel - Staff have been great. My mum had a fall in reception on arrival and they could not have been kinder (100% her fault Not hotel) we upgraded at extra cost on arrival to 3 bedroom suite and it has been perfect great view, all amenities that are needed, cleaning team excellent. I really would recommend this hotel and their staff. Hoping for a late check out option on Friday as mum is still a bit sore. Pool area quiet no problem for beds - location great. Spa shop in hotel so handy and not a rip off which is always nice… restaurant staff super helpful and attentive - over all a 10/10 experience and am looking as to when I can come back!

Nice but needs work to make it a 5 star

We have just finished a week at this hotel as 2 families with 4 boys aged between 11 and 15, we were b&b.

There is plenty to do for the kids, they enjoyed the sports, pool and made friends and enjoyed the freedom.

Sports facilities were really good. Football, volleyball, padel, games.

Rooms, big rooms and spacious, we had interconnecting rooms which were perfect. Beds comfy. Lacked a coffee machine we felt. Nice balcony with comfy sun loungers.

Breakfast was ok, not brilliant and had better and worse. So busy at peak times, we went at 10.30 as it finishes at 11 which was much quieter.

Sunloungers around the pool were so uncomfortable. It was like they are designed to have a padded topper as metal bars stick into your back, they are REALLY uncomfortable.

Main pool was so busy and chaotic so we stuck with the upstairs pool which was the quiet pool and boys went down to play in the downstairs pool. Not atmosphere at all round the pools, need some music.

Lunch bar Food ok, nothing special but fine and not too overpriced.

Drinks, not had a nice drink in the hotel, cocktails are badly made, not worth getting them, horrible house wine.

Towels, annoying first part to the holiday where you have to get towels from 10am each day, at first we went at 10.45 and 11 and there were non left so we couldn’t change them. This seemed to get better as it got quieter.

Location - good location, 10 mins away walk to puerto Morgan which is lovely.

Gym, not big enough for the hotel, no air con and small. They closed if so we couldn’t use for last few days of the hol, as refurbishing it and it needs it. Has lots of free weights which is good but very old treadmills and no space when there are 8 to 10 people in there which is not many for a hotel of this size,

The hotel itself needs some money spending on it, things look abit shabby, not repaired properly, looks abit bodged up.

Hotel reception needs improving, we arrived late and it looks stark and shabby and dated, especially the floor. No biggie but first impressions count. Had to take our cases ourselves to our room which is was quite a walk from reception and it was midnight.

All in all we had a nice holiday, the kids really enjoyed it which is why I have rated it a 4 / 5. It just isn’t up to 5 star standards.

An amazing hotel but a few tweaks could make it exceptional

This is a lovely hotel. We thought we were booked into the other Radisson Blu hotel in the area but this hotel is so much better. The breakfast is amazing and there are plenty of tables and no queues for the food. I have a few points that could make the experience better

  1. there is no non slip mat for the shower. I haven’t called reception to redone so it might be easy to resolve but one bro g present in the room would be a benefit

  2. there is no hook on the back of the bathroom door. I use a dressing gown and I’m hating to put it over the bath door which isn’t ideal.

  3. the door stop in the bathroom is right by where you get out of the shower. Moving it back closer to the wall might avoid nasty accidents

  4. a plug socket near a mirror or vice versa. Us ladies like to use hair straighteners or tongs but I am having to heat them up in the bedroom, unplug them then run to the nearest mirror before they cool down!

  5. an adult only swimming pool. The swimming pools are lovely and we have had no problems in getting a sun lounger. However, the deep pool can be overtaken with children, making swimming very challenging. There is another, more shallow pool which I would think is more appropriate for children.

I must stress, none of my suggestions detract from my opinion that this is a lovely hotel and I highly recommend it

Beautiful and well run hotel in an idyllic location

This is a beautiful hotel in a stunning location, but it is topped even more so by the welcome you will receive from each and every member of staff. From the moment we arrived every member of the Radisson team welcomed us with such warmth and hospitality, probably more so than we have ever received anywhere. They are an absolute credit to Radisson.

We were lucky enough to stay in a beautiful apartment suite with panoramic views on the 9th floor. It is the best apartment we have ever stayed in, with stunning views, a spacious balcony and superb furniture inside and out.

We stayed half board. We really enjoyed the food, which has a different theme every evening. If you don’t fancy the dishes offered on that evening then there is a chef that will cook a meat and/or fish option right in front of you, coupled with the selection of sides available (we loved the Canarian potatoes), vegetables and delicious salad options we felt that we were offered an excellent selection of food options every evening and looked forward to going to dinner each night. There were some very nice puddings too - my absolute favourite was the apple crumble which was fabulous, and the ice cream and sorbet options were of an excellent quality too.

The staff are very swift to serve and clear away even when they are busy, and when it is quieter they will actively offer to carry things to the table for you and make the guest feel special. They work hard to look after the guests and they take time to talk with us too. The atmosphere is very nice.

My husband and I used the gym on alternate mornings before breakfast. It was very well equipped. We were also grateful of the many sunbeds available under the trees in the beautiful garden by the sea front, as we prefer the shade. It was lovely and cool here during the warmer days.

There is a great little shop on site which is reasonable. The beautiful Anfi beach is a very short walk with more bars and restaurants there too. There is also a very fancy Spar there to get your supplies should you wish. It has both cheese and deli counters which are very nice, along with anything else you might want.

There were only a couple of small negatives (both resolvable, and did not spoil the holiday). The pillows are too soft (we could have asked to change them, we just didn’t bother), I have noticed this mentioned by another guest too. Also there was an issue getting back into the hotel on our last night for a group of us, as the gates to the hotel wouldn’t open. It took a while to get the bell on the gate to answer, and a while longer to get help - we got let in by a fellow guest instead. I would just say that the bell ought to ring directly through to someone as it seemed to go unanswered - but we got in eventually and it was fine. I would imagine this issue has already been noted by the hotel now in any case.

We will return here again as we loved it so much. This is as much due to having such a delightful team running the hotel as it is the beautiful location and facilities.

Thank you :)
