Again, another amazing stay at this wonderful hotel!
We have been coming to Lopesan Costa Meloneras for many years now, usually twice a year, and this was around our 20th visit. We simply can’t stay away! Every time we arrive, it feels like coming home.
The hotel is beautifully maintained, with stunning gardens, amazing pools, and spacious, comfortable rooms that are always spotlessly clean. The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing, making it the perfect place to unwind.
One of the things we love most is the location. The beautiful promenade is right next to the hotel, with plenty of lovely restaurants, cafés, shops, and the lighthouse all within walking distance. It really is the perfect place to spend your holiday.
What makes this hotel truly special is the staff. They are always friendly, welcoming, and professional, and they consistently make us feel valued as returning guests.
We have been travelling to this hotel as a family and as a couple for 25 years. Over the past few years we have travelled as a couple and used the Unique rooms and amenities. This year is seemed to us that this scheme has now got too popular for the amenities that are on offer. Around the pool there are signs stating no smoking and no inflatables in and around the Unique pool. Although a lifeguard was on duty children were using inflatables and the lifeguard was stood chatting to a couple who were actually smoking whilst talking to him. There is the family pool for using inflatables. There were people using the Unique pool who hadn’t paid extra to use the amenities . When you pay extra you do expect to feel a little special but around the pool was busy with guests putting towels on sunbeds at 7.30 in the morning and then not returning until 11am. They can’t be blamed as they had paid to be around that particular pool but there just wasn’t enough sunbeds or room to put anymore. The Unique scheme feels like it’s become a victim of its own success. Too many guests using it for the spaces allocated for it.
This is our 4th time - so yes we like it !! Most things about this hotel are very very good. Service, staff, grounds well kept - almost everything 10/10. The hotel is very large, very grand, with stunning gardens foliage and palms. I found areas I had not come across before. Beware if you don't like walking this is not a small and cosy hotel, it is large and grand. Though it never felt too busy.
The rooms are all arranged in corridors that open at each end to very well kept quadrangles with palms or olive trees.
The pools are excellent.
The main pool is totally amazing, so large, especially good for those that love a proper good swim.
Food at breakfast and buffet was excellent, service good is good. So much choice, meat, fish veg, salads, breads and more ! You can't eat it all!
The grounds are extensive and the gardens kept immaculately. The palms and green foliage are a huge part of the appeal to me. It’s a pleasure to look at and walk in. We even found pomegranates growing. The location is fantastic an easy walk to the beach and dunes.
Aqua aerobics were excellent I think the instructor is called Janice. She is the best, its fun and it’s real exercise with results.
Irritants.
Nowhere is perfect ...
Sunbeds can be used but not reserved between 8.00AM and 10.00 AM. Lifeguards zealously police this removing towels and personal items if the sunbed appears vacant but reserved. So basically to get a sunbed you need to sit and guard it between 8.00 and 10.00 . After 10.00 few sunbeds are left. It means you need to babysit your sunbed between 8AM and 10AM when you might rather be having a leisurely breakfast, walking on the beach or even sleeping! It makes life inconvenient for those that have paid for breakfast.
Signs say no ball games in the pools but it is not enforced, there are balls being thrown everywhere - at peak times hard to swim without being hit by a ball even in the large lake pool.
Music is ubiquitous and often too loud and intrusive for my liking. It was not late night so didnt disturb sleep - the hotel was very quiet at night
Weather This was my first summer visit other business have been February or Easter The hotel was noticeably busier in summer. Weather wise I prefer the cooler evenings and crisper mornings so would choose autumn / winter in future. But the July weather was excellent not too hot at all.
We will be back!
Unless you go Unique DONT GO. The dining room is AWFUL, my wife was pushed and shoved so many times, in fact we paid half board but half the time we did not eat there it was so bad! Our 53rd wedding anniversary was not recognised by the hotel!! If it wasn’t for the Manager of the Toscana Restaurant it would not have been recognised.
This hotel is amazing, I would highly recommend it. Staff are super friendly and professional. The hotel and all of the facilities are really well maintained. Pools are fabulous. Can be difficult to secure a sun lounger as it’s busy but we always managed to find some. Plenty of space around. The rooms are well appointed and spotlessly clean. We couldn’t fault this hotel, we will definitely be returning.
