Maspalomas

At the hotel guests will enjoy a familiar holiday of relax and leisure in Maspalomas, the destination of the warm sun and golden sand beaches. The complex is located next to shopping malls, an amusement park, the local market and recreational areas; the airport is less than 28 kilometers away. In addition, southern Gran Canaria offers spectacular landscapes such as the stunning Maspalomas dunes or the kilometer-long Playa del Inglés. With the Maspalomas golf course surrounded by slender Canarian palm trees as a backdrop, the resort offers comfort and service in a cozy and familiar atmosphere. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, and some dispose of a terrace or balcony. The resort has pool area for adults and for children, also, sport lovers can joy the billiard and table tennis.

TripAdvisor Review
Not for us.

Let's start with the positive. Good size rooms. Staff were brilliant and helpful. Pleasant surroundings. Even though high season it never seemed packed. The sunbeds outside our room were a godsend as my grandson needed the quiet calm of a room from time to time. The snack bar served fresh burgers, hit dogs and pizza and we used this most lunch times. Icecreams were readily available and very nice. A couple of cats but they were no trouble. Now the negatives. As my grandson is autistic we asked for a quiet room. To our horror we were put immediately in front of the stage. This started around 8 with the children's disco which involved a lot of screaming but the other kids enjoyed it. The adult entertainment reminded me of the 1990s as it consisted of bingo, silly games karaoke and dancing to moves on a screen. Luckily it finished at 11. The pools are deep and there was only one my 5ft 2 daughter could actually stand up in and that was only at 1 end. The splash pool was in need of repair as the floor covering was raised in places. The food was typical of all inclusive and although we always found something to eat, it was cold, looked unappetizing, bland or too salty. We lived on salads and fruit. First all inclusive we have been on where we didn't put on any weight! But the worst part was not really the hotels fault but I do think it should be mentioned is that there is a venue behind the hotel where live music is played. Over the weekend from Friday to Sunday, the room was vibrating with the bass. If you're sound sensitive you'll understand how devastating this was. Again a lot of screaming. On the Saturday there were police, and ambulances called so there were sirens right into the early hours.

Value for money but not 4 star

Review - 1st to 8th August. Its a long one so buckle up lol Me, my husband and 2 grandchildren (12 and 16) booked family suite along with my sister in law and her daughter. Brother in law and his fiancee booked a double room separately.

While I emailed the hotel ahead of time to request we could be in same zone, we received the standard response that they would try to accommodate but couldn't guarantee as they were fully booked that week.

We arrived around 9.20 on sat night and reception checked us in quickly and called the restaurant downstairs to ensure they would let us eat (closes at 9.30. We'd to return after we'd eaten to retrieve our cases and get our room info. Having access to some hot food on arrival was very much appreciated.

You do get the option of housekeeping every day or every other day. As there were 4 of us in the room we opted for daily and I'd recommend this option to everyone. Other members of our party opted for every other day and their cleaning sometimes got missed especially when they needed fresh towels or loo roll tho we helped out where possible.

Now for the room - we had a family suite on ground level in quieter end of zone 2. (Room 219) This was also at the end of a block of 4 so was ideal as we had no passers by (this ended up being our family hub for the week because of the location. Sis in law and neice were 2 doors along room 215 (family in between us were easy to get along with so this also helped) Bro in law and fiancee had double room in zone 1 (not too far away) but they did ask to upgrade to family suite in zone 2 which couldn't be done - understandable. Air con can be tricky but scan the QR code on your room card which gives more info on hotel and provides a video instruction for the aircon. Hint; the cardboard sleeve your key comes in (or your tesco clubcard) can also be put in the slot when you're out to keep the air con on

Family suite spacious, massive bathroom with hairdryer, separate shower and bath with retractable drying line over bath. 2 couches in liv room that convert to single beds by removing the back cushions. Plenty of hanging and shelf space too. A few cockroaches around but nothing major, keep your inner net curtain closed helps prevent them getting in the room.

Food not the best all inclusive we've been to but by no means the worst either. Good selection and the fussy eaters among us did not go hungry. Snack bar offered pastries, hot dogs, pizza, burgers and what they called chips but were more like chipsticks. Open 12 to 4pm.

Drinks. A few different cocktails available but from a premixed machine so we found them a bit sickly. Cider on tap, cava on request, very generous spirit mixtures and served in plastic cups. Tip: we took a 6 cup drink holder bought from Temu for around £2 which was a godsend. We also took insulated bottles that we could fill with juice or water from the self service bar. They also didnt mind putting alcoholic drinks into insulated cups (ideal for filling before bar closes at 11pm)

Location. Spar few mins walk away and Holiday World around a 10min walk. Local bus stop opposite holiday world will take you to Peurto Mogan market for around £4.50 pp. Free bus to Aqualand picks up outside hotel at 10am and returns at 3.30. Tip: we took fabric coolbag and bought a bag of ice, juice, snacks and cheap cartons of wine from Spar to take with us (saved a fortune on Aqualand prices) To be fair, we didnt go much further as this was a chill holiday for us.

Pools plenty of them, deep but inflatables are allowed

Overall, hubby and i had no issues, sis in laws air con broke the hottest day (39 deg) but reception arranged a fan until it could be fixed. Bro in law and fiancee's shower leaked but they didn't report it so can't complain, they did need extra towels but as cleaning got missed (this was reported but not rectified). I'd suggest hotel is not really 4 star, more 3 star but was very reasonably priced.

Not sure we'd return as a couple (very kid orientated) but if taking kids I'd def consider it.

3 Star and that’s being generous

The room was huge, very spacious with a bath and a shower and recently refurbished. Great for families and the air conditioning was really good!

The biggest problem was the cleaning, we stayed 9 nights had our room cleaned twice and of those two times we were left with no towels and then had to make our own bed as they left the sheets on the side. We asked to have the room cleaned and told someone would come but they never did. The duvets in the wardrobe had previously been used with marks on them but you can get fresh ones at reception

There is only one bar here to get a drink, it’s the pool bar! Be prepared to get your feet soaking wet in the evening as the pool bar is where you get your drinks. It’s literally a swamp round there with little space. The kids splash area is swamped in water and the mud underneath seeps through, flip flops and a rubber dingey would be a great support when getting the drinks of an evening.

There is a sports bar at the back of the pool, the doors locked and you have to ask for it to be open - it smelt worse than a weatherspoons toilet but there is screens for the football!

Bar and restaurant shut sharp, make sure you get there 5 minutes before. Food served to the end but doors closed straight away.

Buffet food is basic at its best, if you like your chicken served with the same tongs as they they handle the raw meat then you’ll enjoy the grill area.

Joeys restaurant is amazing, best risotto I’ve had and the food was delicious. It’s buffet style but individually cooked so a lot fresher and tastier.

Plenty of pools, they are cleaned and you can smell chlorine. Life guards watch tv on their phone so be mindful if you have young children.

Free bus service is amazing, driver was fantastic and the reception staff in the hotel are super great!

We had a good holiday but the hotel needs to increase its cleaning staff and cleaning routine, aswell as finding a solution for the bar area. The entertainment is focused on children so a nice area to sit of an evening without being crammed into the soaking wet pool area would be a great improvement.

Chicken fajita night on a Monday was delicious, just watch the tongues when they hand you the meat

3 star at best

3 star at best, if you expect 4 star as advertised you’ll be disappointed. Food was very repetitive so got boring very quickly. Not much of a choice for children. Entertainment team worked hard but very much focused towards younger children. We were there for a week and saw the same show twice so they could do with mixing it up a bit. Only one bar for drinks which is by the pool so you’re traipsing through puddles if you go at night. Sunbeds gone early doors so prepare to get up early. A trip to the beach was good for a change of scenery and the Holiday World complex up the road is good for a visit too. Overall not terrible but won’t be returning.

Nice hotel for a cheap break

We recently got back from a weeks holiday staying at livvo koala with 2 young kids. Overall I wouldn’t rate this hotel a 4 star more like a 3. On check in we arrived at 20:30 and was told there was no food as the restaurant shut at 21:00 and were instead left with sandwiches and fruit on the check in desk to help ourselves too. Rooms were big and spacious, but the sofa bed I felt wasnt the usually sofa bed you’d expect and so my oldest ended up sleeping in the bed with us as I thought it was too uncomfortable and not big enough. The room wasn’t cleaned to a high standard and there was used plastic cups and balls left under the sofa. There was 4 swimming pools but none of them shallow enough for oldest to stand up. The minimum depth I seen was 1.5m. There was 2 baby pools and a splash pad but this was only small and got busy. On our last day they taped the splash pad off im assuming to fix the floor as this was raised and broken. Food - main buffet restaurant was ok, wouldn’t go hungry and didn’t make any of us bard. Not much option for the evening meals and it was repetitive but again this is a personal preference. Not much option for children, only once we managed to get chicken nuggets. Did notice a few dead cockroaches on the floor around the outdoor sitting area. Snack bar open 12-5 serving burgers, hot dogs and pizza. Pool bar didn’t open until 11 so if you wanted a drink around the pool before then you would have to go to the restaurant to get it. Self service drinks was also not possible until they opened the machines. Sometimes this would be flat drinks. There was a shop about a 5 minute walk away which we went to most days to get bottled water and crisps as there was no on site shop. Taxi to Puerto ricco cost about €36 and taxi to Maspalomas light house was about €8 Prior to checkout we enquired about a late check out this was €50 to have the room until 6pm we decided not to use this and was told there was a shower room and luggage room we could use. But on checkout when we asked to use to the shower room we was told this needed to be pre-booked and there was no availability for us so instead we had to just get changed in the bathroom. So be careful and make sure you book that the day before check out.
