Dunas Maspalomas Resort

The staff were friendly, which we appreciated. However, our original room had a strong smell of damp, so we paid extra to upgrade rather than making a complaint, as we couldn’t stay there for five days. The upgraded room was supposed to include daily replenishment of water and coffee, but these were only provided on my husband’s birthday. For a four-star hotel, especially after paying extra, we expected more consistent service and better attention to the room facilities.

Our very first visit to Gran Canaria. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at Dunas. Cintia made us feel very welcome and was very helpful. The entertainment team had something for all age ranges throughout the day which was great fun. Every evening was a different theme for food which was great. Apartments very clean and tidy with everything we needed. We can’t wait to return again.

This resort is well-located so that it is far enough away from the full-on Playa del Ingles but close enough to get free shuttle buses, public service buses or taxis to anywhere necessary. There was a lovely welcoming feel to the resort, with a bottle of fizz and chocolates waiting for us when we arrived, and an extra delivery of chocolates on my birthday, neither of which were requested, and although the majority of guests appeared to be French, the animation team made an effort to include other nationalities as well. All of the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. We stayed in a one-bedroom bungalow, which was great! There was air con, a self-contained private outdoor area for drying clothes/towels, it was clean, modern decoration, and the kitchen area had a full-size fridge, with freezer box. The safe held a full-size laptop, along with our other valuables. The living area had a comfortable sofa-bed (we only used it as a sofa), a tv, and its own router so the wifi was the best we have experienced on a holiday. On the flip side, there was no kettle in the kitchen and as the windows are single-glazed, we could hear the entertainment and people walking past a little more than we would have liked. There were plenty of sunbeds and parasols around the pools, with no early-morning reservations, with the pools and surrounding areas kept clean and tidy. The food was delicious, with lots of choice and good long opening times for each meal, with the snack bar also open throughout the day. This served slushies which went down very well! The main entertainment bar had plenty of seating, served delicious alcoholic, and non-alcoholic, mojitos, and had enertainment every night to cater to all ages and nationalities. The whole resort was clean, well tended to, and our cleaner was so lovely. The option of late check-out was very welcome given our flight time. All in all, a great resort, great location, great bungalows and great staff.
