This apartment complex is situated amongst green gardens by the beach. Restaurants offering buffet and à la carte meals, as well as bars and pubs can be found in the immediate vicinity, whilst the town of San Fernando is 8 km away.
The family-friendly hotel has a total of 255 rooms and is fully air-conditioned. There is a lobby with 24-hour reception and check-out service, as well as hotel safe, currency exchange facilities, cloakroom and lift access. Other facilities include on-site café, bar, pub and restaurant, as well as hairdressing salon, auditorium, games room, conference facilities and wireless Internet access. Room and laundry services are provided, whilst guests arriving by car can leave their vehicles in the hotel's own private car park. The hotel also operates a bike hire service and there is a children's playground for the younger guests.
The hotel features comfortable rooms with unbeatable sea views from their huge balconies. Rooms are en suite with bathtub and hairdryer and include direct dial telephone, satellite TV with international channels, mini-fridge/minibar, tea and coffee making facilities and a room safe. Ceiling fans have been fitted in the rooms and they are also air-conditioned.
The resort includes outdoor swimming pools with an area for children. Guests can relax on the sun loungers and shade themselves with the parasols which are laid out on the sun terrace by the pool. Refreshments are available just a few steps away at the poolside snack bar. There is an on-site gym and a sauna, steam room and hot tub. Massage and spa treatments are also available. Further activities available at the resort include tennis, table tennis, bocce, 18-hole mini-golf, golf (on the driving range) and trampolining. Entertainment programmes are provided for children and adults, whilst water sports such as diving, wind surfing and canoeing are available on the nearby beach, as is beach volleyball.

Spanish Butlins
If you been to Butlins in the UK then this is similar vibe but slighlty better. Ideal if you have kids as there's a lot of entertainment and things to do. The food was OK, clearly catered for the Brits which was fine. The actual spanish food were not good but rest was fine. A lot of options for kids though which was great. The staffs at the reception were not friendly or much helpful at all. I don't think i saw them smile once. That needs a bit improvement. The chefs and waiters were actually really nice. Smiled and greeted us every time. The location is nearer the airport but a bit far away from main attaractions like Maspalomas Beach, the aqaurium, Palmito park and Playa de Mogan. So the taxi rides will be expensive but there's a bus stop about 5 minute walk. The bus can be confusing and the drivers don't speak too much English so make sure you have everything ready beforehand. All in all it was ok.

Nasty Sister Act
Firstly the hotel was excellent. The cleaning staff were fantastic never failed to clean the rooms everyday. The Bar Staff along with the restaurant staff worked non stop. Tables were cleaned food was fresh with a great choice. Front of house always helpful. The bad section was that the life guards constantly blow their whistles some time for good reasons but most of all just because they could. There are three swimming pools, one for little children, one for the middle aged group and then the main pool. The complaint should be that everyone from the sister hotel Hotel Playa Feliz moves to the main hotel, the reason being was that Feliz is a (2 Star) ⭐️ hotel and that is being really kind. The main hotel is a (4 Star) ⭐️ so the main hotel was overcrowded. The cost of Hotel Feliz was quite a lot cheaper than the main hotel so did I feel cheated? Yes. The food at Feliz was cheap and awful to be honest burgers cold and under cooked, fries cold and tasteless, cold pizza undercooked bases, infact everything was horrible when we had to use their pool. If the British health and safety staff went in there they would have closed the kitchen down. Staff there didn’t give a damb about the food quality. There can be no excuse for TUI to allow for that poor behaviour or standard of quality. Would I have gone to to main hotel if I stayed in hotel, hell yes. But should we have had to deal with the overwhelming numbers from the Feliz, no we paid the higher price for peace and tranquility but the added noise and constant overcrowding ruined it to a degree.
Another wonderful holiday after 10 years of visiting ❤️
We have been coming to this resort for 10 years now, but this was our first time staying back in the original Orquidea hotel since 2018, and we had another wonderful holiday.
We stayed from 10th–24th August in a two-bedroom suite on the 3rd floor, which was perfect for our family. The views were absolutely beautiful 👌 and we were really happy with the room and location.
We were also there celebrating my husband’s birthday, and the room had been decorated for him, which was such a lovely touch and really appreciated.
Over the last 10 years we have built many friendships across the resort, both at Orquidea and Playa Feliz, so it was really lovely to come back and see everyone again.
The food, as always, was great with plenty of choice, and the staff throughout the hotel work incredibly hard and are always friendly and welcoming.
We don’t tend to go off site anymore as we have done all of that on previous holidays, so for us it is really important that the hotel and resort have plenty to offer throughout the day and evening. The evening entertainment was great and the entertainment team work extremely hard.
It was also lovely to see Joaquin back again!
A very special mention has to go to Ulrica and Rahul, who over the years have become wonderful friends to us. Their kindness, help and support always mean so much and are a huge part of why we continue to return year after year.
I would also like to give a special mention to Toni from the pool maintenance team, who was always helpful and kind.
Aaron the lifeguard also deserves a special mention. He works incredibly hard, is always friendly and was particularly kind and understanding with my son, who has additional needs. Little things like this make such a difference to families like ours and are really appreciated.
The main area that could be improved is around the sunbeds. There are simply not enough parasols for the number of sunbeds, which can make finding adequate shade difficult, particularly for families who need it for medical or additional needs reasons. I really hope this is something the hotel looks at, as more parasols would make a big difference.
After 10 years of visiting, this resort holds lots of special memories for our family, and it was lovely to be back staying in the Orquidea again. We had another fantastic holiday and, as always, there are some amazing members of staff who really make the place special.

Very disappointing experience. Not what we expected from a TUI BLUE hotel
Please beware! The good reviews oversell this hotel and I don't want anyone to end up in our awful situation. We booked the TUI BLUE Orquídea expecting the standard described by TUI BLUE: “best-in-class service”, personal service, quality food and activities tailored to guests. Unfortunately, our experience fell well short of those expectations.
We were travelling with a baby, which made some of the problems particularly difficult.
Our original room had a balcony door that was almost impossible to open. The air conditioning was extremely poor and was also leaking. We reported the problems and, after two nights, we were moved to another room in an attempt to resolve them.
Unfortunately, the problems continued. The air conditioning in the new room was still inadequate and made a loud rattling noise.
There were also numerous other issues during our stay:
• Poor quality lunch and dinner, to the point that we chose to eat dinner outside the hotel and incurred additional expense. • Cleanliness concerns, including finding hair and dirt in drinks. • A cockroach in the drinking area near the restaurant. • The hotel was extremely hot, particularly the restaurant. • Only two working lifts for a hotel with hundreds of guests, resulting in significant queues (the third lift remained permanently on floor 10 and was not in use). • Very loud music around the pool and at night, which carried to our room. • Significant queues for pool sunbeds and, when we went out, no suitable shaded loungers available. This was particularly difficult with a baby. • The baby pool was so overcrowded that we couldn't properly use it.
After raising our concerns and trying to resolve the room problems, TUI ultimately moved us to the Lopesan Baobab. We are very pleased with the Baobab and it has been a completely different experience — it is an excellent hotel and much more in line with what we expected from our holiday.
However, we had to pay a significant additional amount to move hotels.
We are now raising a formal complaint with TUI about our experience at the Orquídea and the fact that, in our view, the actual experience did not match the standards and description associated with the TUI BLUE brand.
I am posting this review because I think prospective guests should be aware of our experience before booking.
The hotel may suit some people, and experiences can obviously vary, but based on our stay, I would not recommend the TUI BLUE Orquídea to families with babies who are expecting the level of quality and service suggested by the TUI BLUE branding. There is a baby room, which is a nice touch, but this does not make up for the problems we experienced.
Our experience at the Lopesan Baobab has been excellent, but unfortunately the problems at the Orquídea significantly affected the first half of our holiday.

Excellent Family Holiday
We booked a 2 week holiday here as a family of 4 during August. I can honestly say we all had a great time. My kids are aged 3 and 7 and there is so much to do. Staff are fantastic and always willing to help, from reception staff, cleaners, chefs and TUI staff. Pools were good but can get very busy being August. Good variety of food each night and they catered for my kids who are dairy free. The kids clubs are great and all staff were super friendly, welcoming and full of energy. We were on floor 11 so our room had a great view, very clean and perfect for the 4 of us. Location is good, local little beaches and a bus or taxi ride away from the bigger towns and beaches. Good value for money considering we went in august during the school holidays. You get plenty for your money and TUI staff really made our visit. Would recommend as a great atmosphere with plenty to do at the hotel and locally. Thank you to everyone that made our stay so good.
