Gloria Palace Amadores Thalasso and Hotel

We have just got home from a 7 night holiday. So were do i begin i struggling as this hotel seems to have so many good reviews but we just didn't feel it maybe my expectations are higher than others who knows. I would give this hotel a 6/10. The location is lovely great access to two excellent beaches. The hotel itself if very traditional and beautifully decorated, we found the cleanliness to be really good too the maids and staff work very hard and all friendly. The rooms are spacious and clean we were in room 2010 we didn't have the best time in this room as its located right near the park and pool area which is great in the day for families but a nightmare at night time its so loud and noisy we struggled to sleep every night the nosie didn't stop until gone midnight we had teenagers running up and down and even ringing our door bell. We told reception and they said they would send security down this never happened, my husband ended up sitting outside the room just to make sure no one woke our children up. Unfortunately, I understand this isnt all the hotels fault and we cant help other people its a shame aren't as considerate as us. I know people are on holiday but teenagers screaming ringing door bells isnt acceptable and parents dont seem to care let them do whatever they want. I can see the certain type of families that come to this hotel and would think this is ok. I think this is not our type of hotel. The food is ok....its fine nothing amazing very basic warm edible. Pool again ok i would say its far too small for the size of the hotel. The lifts are a bit of a nightmare if im honest we didn't stay around the hotel pool much we love the beach but one morning it too us 9 lift to just get down to the beach front. This is a cheap and cheerful hotel you definitely get what you pay for.

For anyone reading this. During the 8 days I stayed at this hotel, I encountered good staff. Quiet environment by the ocean, close to the city center, close to two beautiful beaches, especially Amadores, a great beach. Good rooms and good bathrooms and two swimming pools, the best of all was the variety of food. It was a suitable hotel for me, who travels a lot. *** Only problem I had I booked full board and it was not included restaurant drinks and bar drinks and snacks bar food, it's just included three times restaurant food which I hope the hotel authorities changed to half board and all inclusive and remove full board. We initially booked a presidential suite at the sister hotel "The Royal," but after the first night, a Saturday, noticing the lack of atmosphere, jacuzzi no instructions for use and dials coming off, safe had to be dismantled before it would work (via engineer) food was lacking in choices, lift to ground zero from reception did not work, getting a taxi to go anywhere apart from the beach, even though the staff were great, the room didn't cut it for us, after all this, we decided we needed to be back at "THE PALACE," Thankfully management at Gloria Palace Amadores noticed our plight and were swiftly transferred back to "The Palace," unfortunately we couldn't get a pool room as they were all booked but we did get a newly refurbished room, which was great.

Food is always available. There are choices. Themed nights can be a tad confusing. If you are saying the food is cold, it's probably because you took too long to sit down and eat because of the choices of accompanying food. It's a busy hotel, pick your time to eat according to the least busiest time.

When we arrived, it was hot but there was a calima, so we were aware, but it got hotter, I think 42.6°c was the recorded max temp warning by Aemet, yes I believe there could be some big fans or some kind of air conditioning in reception at least, not just for clients but for the staff too, there wasn't any movement of air. The room, however, had a big tropical fan on the ceiling ( I want one) as well as air conditioning when the patio doors are closed.

In conclusion, because, like a fool, I paid the total price up front via the website, if I had paid at the hotel, I would have been refunded the difference between the Royal and Palace, never mind, lesson learned, I lost over €1000 transferring as a result, but I didn't really care. I was back at the Palace.

What would have made our holiday end on a happier note would have been a late check-out, but being summer, no rooms were available, so trying to avoid the hot air was uncomfortable and unbearable.

For those thinking the Royal is better, think again, the Palace us in an optimal location, staff are great, I have never had any problems with grumpy staff. I would gladly continue to class this hotel as my second home. It is my benchmark.
