Great Stay at Occidental Jandía Playa
I recently stayed at the Occidental Jandía Playa in Fuerteventura and had a very positive experience overall.
The hotel is huge, with spacious rooms that provide plenty of comfort during your stay. One thing I particularly appreciated was that the rooms were cleaned every day, which helped keep everything fresh and tidy throughout my visit.
The hotel also has two very large swimming pools, giving guests plenty of space to relax and enjoy the sunshine without feeling crowded.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all served buffet-style. There is a good variety of food available, and most guests should be able to find something they enjoy. Personally, I would have liked to see an even wider selection of options, but the quality and choice were still good overall.
Overall, I had a very enjoyable stay. The combination of spacious facilities, daily housekeeping, large pools, and varied buffet meals made for a comfortable and relaxing holiday. I would recommend the Occidental Jandía Playa to anyone visiting Fuerteventura and looking for a large resort with plenty of amenities.

Animation - Review of Samantha
The Atmosphere was really relaxing and great. This review is only about the Animation. They really made a big impact on us. They were so energetic and joyful. We enjoyed every activity we participated because of them. The Animation deserves a praise. Well done. :)

Recent stay
I will start with the positives: *Food was amazing - good selection from starter to dessert
- I like the idea of self service food and drinks at the snacks bar and restaurant
- spa facilities were good and a private pool
- the housekeeper on our floor was lovely our sea view room was spotless and even changed our bedding (this has to be requested)
*the pool was suitable for all swimming ability
Negatives: “ The whole hotel could do with repainting and a lot of maintenance work especially in the rooms, tiles round the pools and pavements just everywhere! *we had stayed in the hotel a few years back and was able to request a kettle via the app. Now this is not possible as it’s only for premium guests - this should be clear on the app, and in my view everyone should have the option to request for a kettle.
- You cannot seat anywhere without being a passive smoker! Smoking is allowed literally everywhere. The hotel should have a non- smoking area for comfort and especially around children.
*We had some photos taken but unable to buy them as the photographers were only taking cash (euros) - no option to pay by card
False advetisment, would not recommend
Rooms not as described and in need of repairs (broken lights in both rooms, majority of tiles cracked/lose, one in my room could pinch a foot and split it open if stepped on wrong)
Can hear everything in the rooms
Door handle broke could not use the adjoining room as paid for
Food was poor, lacked taste and no allergen concerns most things have no info on what they are and zero have ingredients - ended up going hungry or having stomach issues most days and spent money to eat elsewhere some nights just to get a decent meal
Charged for drinks that you are told are free
Pool is noisy and you are packed in like sardines, couldnt use it a single day of the 11
Hotel is not close to the beach you have to walk almost 15 minutes to get to the entrance (directly outside the hotel - after walking down 6 flights of stairs - is a do not enter/disturb zone dor wildlife), 10 if you are okay with rocks
Watersports is actually around a 30/40 minute walk from the hotel
Despite them claiming a policy against reserving beds at the pool everyone does it and the hotel do nothing about it
WiFi is pretty much non existent, you only get it in the reception (not even within the hotel you have to be in the reception for it to work properly) so they lie on the website when it says you get free wifi in your rooms
All entertainment (limited already) is targeted at children including the 'adults only' as they share the entertainment (and the pool) but have not been able to really experience any of the later entertainment as the space is too small and there are only maybe 40 seats in the area and then everyone is squished together standing
The same drinks are different prices (by a large margin) depending on what bar you visit
Someone trying to use a key card to enter my room at 1030pm, only reason they couldn't get in was because I locked the door - huge safety concern and had me scared to sleep as they were persistent
Bar staff all positive experiences
Reception largely positive, one guy from adults side was slightly rude when went to discuss issues with room and ask about potentially switching over to that side of the hotel depending on the costs. Hugo on playa reception was lovely.
Restaurant staff in main buffet - vast majority very rude, odd few young men and women that were polite and pleasant but the rest were not - were shamed one evening about having an apple juice when it is included in the half board drinks and tried to be charged for half of a less than half pint glass (€3.50) very loudly - i actually ended up not eating or drinking anything that evening because of this as I did not feel comfortable and just sat in silence, evening completely ruined and when we asked for management to complain were sent on a whild goose chase as they ping ponged us around until we just went to reception to complain and be told there was no management in that evening.
Housekeeping - lovely ladies and wonderful work rooms always spotless
