We stayed for 7 nights at Iberostar Waves Playa Gaviotas and overall had a very good experience. It is important to evaluate it for what it is: a solid 4-star all-inclusive resort rather than a 5-star luxury hotel.
Positive points: • Staff: Extremely friendly, polite and helpful throughout our stay. Definitely one of the hotel’s strongest points. • Location & beach: Excellent location in Jandía, directly in front of a beautiful, long sandy beach. • Rooms: Comfortable, very clean and well maintained. Interestingly, our second room, supposedly a lower category, actually seemed even better and had a bidet. • Food variety: Huge buffet selection, particularly salads, vegetables, fruits, grains and fish. Plenty of good options for those who want to eat healthy. • Overall facilities: Good common areas and competent evening shows. We also had an excellent experience with the restaurant manager, who showed genuine hospitality.
Areas for improvement: • Sunbeds: The towel-reservation situation is frustrating. Many sunbeds were already “reserved” by 8 a.m. The hotel should manage this much better. • All-inclusive operation: Despite plenty of staff, some processes could be better organized. At times there was no ice, the drinking water by the pool was warm, and unnecessary queues formed. The buffet offers great variety, although some dishes lacked flavor. • Teenagers/young adults: We missed more activities and social interaction for guests around 16–20 years old. The evening shows are good, but not very interactive.
Also worth knowing: beach sunbeds/umbrellas and some activities are charged separately.
Overall, I would recommend the hotel. Great staff, location and variety. Not a premium 5-star experience, but a very good 4-star all-inclusive resort.

Mixology roadshow
Mixology roadshow. Was fun and educational and entertaining. Great way to spend an hour and enjoy a free tasty cocktail.
So much fun!
The family and I had such a great time at Iberostar’s cocktail mixology workshop experience with Kris! We expected to make and drink a cocktail but he really made an event of it; we learned a lot about our senses and how to properly use all the specialist equipment. If I’m lucky my adult children will remember the delicious recipe too! A lovely family memory!
Best all inclusive I’ve been to
Currently on our last day of a 7 night stay. Absolutely brilliant place. Highlights for us being the food, huge selection and absolutely something for everyone. Amazing quality and delicious. The best all inclusive we’ve been too. All drinks are branded, alcoholic and soft drinks. Snacks on offer all day, my daughter loved the ice creams. Lovely touch when the staff brought cocktails and ice creams around to everyone at the pool. Excellent service from all the staff who work incredibly hard. Our room was lovely with a gorgeous view of the beach. The room was kept spotless by the lovely cleaning team. The beach is like something from paradise! Clear blue waters and white sand. It’s huge so never felt overcrowded. It’s very shallow so good for kids, on winder days the waves do become quite strong and the current pulls you down the beach but my daughter loved the waves. We’ve had the most amazing holiday.

Fantastic relaxing family holiday!
We enjoyed a lovely relaxing week at this hotel, the journey from the airport did take a while (around an hour and a half) but when we arrived check in was quick and easy and they provided a late night buffet in the restaurant.
Our rooms were very clean and spacious, and next to each other as requested. We had an amazing side sea view which was overlooking the tennis courts. The only thing I missed was not having a kettle in the room and the fridge/mini bar filled, although the large glass jugs to use at the water machines near to our room was a good idea.
We enjoyed lots of the facilities and activities during our stay, aqua fit, the gym, tennis (payable), ping pong, bowling (payable), pool, table football and air hockey (€1 each).
The main pool was slightly warmer than the smaller pool but they were both refreshing and cooled us down! We had no problem getting sunbeds at 10am every morning overlooking the sea. The waiters often brought rounds trays if drinks and ice lollies on an afternoon.
The temperature was just right (around 26°) with a lovely breeze, we often stayed in and around the pool until after 7pm, it was nice not to be rushed away from this area.
There was plenty of food in the main restaurant at every meal, our favourites were the freshly cooked eggs at breakfast, fish on the grill at lunchtime, pizza (the nicest I've tasted!) and the desserts (especially the cake and ice-cream) were delicious! We didn't eat at the Tapas bar as there wasn't as much choice but the food at the snack bar during the day was very varied each day, burgers, hot dogs, paella, chicken nuggets, chips etc. Then later on you could get toasties, fresh crepes with different toppings, fruit, ice-cream and cakes. There was also a hot drinks machine in there as these weren't available in the main restaurant at lunch or in the evening.
The bar areas were lovely, the outside seating area at the Corona bar was completed while we were there so it was nice to be able to sit out and use this. The special cocktails were lovely especially the flavoured Mojito's! There was a small choice of other cocktails on the menu, I would have liked a bit more variety but the ones they had were all nice. The roof top bar was very pretty and spacious but the drinks weren't as good (no cocktails) which was a shame and it was quite breezy sat out there!
We walked down to the beach twice during our stay, it was easy to get in the sea (no stones, just lovely soft sand). We didn't venture anywhere else as we were only there for a week.
Check out was easy and we were given a key card to access the luggage room to store our suitcases. We booked the courtesy room the previous day to shower and change before we left, which was lovely, it had towels and the same toiletries as in the rooms.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend visiting!
