Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Hired a car from the airport and found the hotel easily. Street parking was simple but I can imagine it would be tougher to find a place in high season. Reception was efficient and our room well fitted out and with a small balcony overlooking the sea. Our maid was friendly and not intrusive. We opted for self catering but had one meal at the restaurant. It was supposed to be a canarian night but the food seemed just Spanish which was ok by us. There was entertainment that night - a Spanish girl singer with a guitar - she was very good but most of the guests ignored her presence. Easy access to main beach and beach with naturist section off to the right. We took advantage of the terraza nudist on a couple of days when we had gone to puerta del Rosario and sotavento. This was a real plus for catching the early morning and late evening sun. No tennis equipment was available so raquets will be in our baggage next year. local spar handy for essential with a larger one just 200 or so metres away opposite the nearest bars. We will return.
This hotel has the worst imaginable and unprofessional guest service attitude. It started at 11:10 with receptionist threatening to call police because me and my daughter have not checked out by 11:00. My daughter has explained that I was on an important business conference cal and we will check out as soon as I am finished. The hotel was completely empty so the rush and police threat to kick guests at 11:00 was a bit u reasonable to say the least. The receptionist has also demanded us to show PCR test which I asked if she has the documentation form authorities giving her the right to demand my medical records. receptionist took this as refusal to show PCR test and actually called the police. We have actually give her medical records before we got to see privacy pledge and credential documents from authorities. Police arrived and it followed with more loud conversations in Spanish, which we could not understand and which made my daughter super scared and crying. It was all completely unnecessary and super unprofessional by the hotel receptionist. I understand heightened covid security requirement and we were completely cooperating just demanding for her to show her credentials. The hostile attitude agains customers and complete lack of human understanding is beyond comprehension in this hotel.
I have used this hotel so often that there is hardly a room that I haven't stayed in. Over a period of more than ten years the various staff and managers have provided an excellent service. By and large I have been there in the winter months. The pool provided a much needed cool swim when the sun was hot. The beaches are barely a stone's throw away so that if sea swimming floats your boat then you have great choices with frequent beach bars. Costa Calma is a safe and quiet retreat with little in the way of night life and as a consequence attracts young families and the retired. It is noticeable that many visitors are single, somehow the zen atmosphere suits them. Yoga lessons on the beach are commonplace. With Covid 19 all service providers and their staff have had a lean time; it is wonderful to see smiles from old friends at Morasol as the economy begins to open again. Hopefully it will now allow a much needed fillip to the hotel. Our thanks to Ana and her staff, we wish them well in these trying times. We look forward to seeing your smiles again soon.
I think we got this resort from a feature on television and looked for a good deal online. This aparthotel is genuinely bijou without trying. The quirky design means that the balconies face this way and that but almost without exception face out to a view of the deep blue Atlantic. The constant changes in arcs and intersections the building creates interesting patterns throughout the two wings. This means that no two apartments are exactly alike and the hotel resembles a sort of art installation almost ship like with decks and funnels. The restaurant and bar, the onsite shop and the naturist solarium area are no longer open. There are three good shops with a full variety of supplies within easy walking distance and there are a range of restaurants. And if the balconies and decks are anything to go by the solarium is not missed. The staff were friendly and courteous attending to any small requests or problems quickly. German and Spanish are spoken almost everywhere with a little english. This is a more European resort than Calete de Fuste or Corralejo which are more Anglo so be prepared for naked people on the beaches but then I guess these days bays and quiet beaches everywhere tend to be this way. We posted a couple of pictures to give a taste of the place and hope these are of some interest. Our short holiday break in this small piece of sunny paradise at a good price to suit out budget was much needed and we hope to go there again.
As Morasol looks forward to a new beginning we had an excellent visit there in September. Apparently the hotel is destined for a soon to be started refurbishment. The weather in September 2022 was exceptional with many days of calm seas and lots of sunshine. The hot spell ended with tropical storm Hermine and a day of steady rain. Before this the seas were very calm and night time swims were graced with bioluminescence. The efforts of the staff and management at the hotel to ensure that guests were taken care of during the storm were much appreciated. We wish them well for exciting times ahead!
