Poolside not cleaned properly, loungers we’re not moved the week we were there and drains were quite dirty. Air conditioning was not working and we had to put up quite an argument before they gave us a room at 3am.
We stayed at the Aulua Suites Fuerteventura in Corralejo from 18th to 26th July and had an amazing holiday from start to finish.
From the moment we arrived, we received a very warm welcome from the reception staff. The hotel was spotless, modern and very inviting. We stayed in a Junior Suite overlooking the main pool, and the room was immaculate. It was a lovely surprise to find a complimentary bottle of Prosecco in the fridge, along with a large bottle of water. Although we didn't arrive until around 8:30pm, we were still able to enjoy a meal from the Italian restaurant before settling in. We even managed to watch the England match on the giant cinema screen in the theatre that evening.
The hotel grounds are fantastic, with six different swimming pools catering for everyone. Our suite overlooked the main pool where the daytime entertainment took place, but there was also a shallow family pool and several other large pools, all with plenty of sun loungers. Each pool area had its own bar serving alcoholic drinks, soft drinks, fruit juices, slushies and water.
The entertainment team really made the holiday special. A huge thank you to Riccardo and Guillermo, who were absolutely outstanding. They were friendly, energetic and fantastic with both adults and children, and our kids absolutely loved them. There was always something happening throughout the day, including aqua aerobics, water polo, pool volleyball, inflatable ring races, water carpet racing, beach volleyball, football, darts, Spanish dancing, Spanish lessons, circuit training in the gym and even water bingo. There was never a dull moment, and their enthusiasm really created a fun atmosphere.
The food was exactly what you'd expect from a quality all-inclusive resort. Breakfast was served in the main restaurant, while lunch and dinner could be enjoyed either there or at the poolside Fresco restaurant. There was also an adults-only restaurant that could be booked in advance. Throughout the day there were snacks available, including sandwiches, crackers, pastries, nachos and churros. The themed evenings, including Spanish, Chinese and Italian nights, offered plenty of variety, and there were always lots of options for children too.
The only slight disappointment wasn't the hotel itself but the beaches around Corralejo. If you're visiting purely for soft sandy beaches and calm swimming, you may be a little disappointed, as many of the beaches we visited were volcanic, quite stony and had rougher water than expected. However, this certainly didn't take away from what was an incredible holiday.
Overall, we couldn't fault Aulua Suites Fuerteventura. The staff were exceptional, the facilities were excellent, the entertainment was second to none and the whole resort offered fantastic value for money. We had a wonderful family holiday and wouldn't hesitate to return. Highly recommended!
Lovely 11 night break, staff were friendly, pool area and rooms and restaurants kept very clean. Food varied, always something on the menu to eat, pool bar is an Italian restaurant at night which is nice and relaxed
Day 1 of my holiday the air conditioning was not working in the room. Same problem as last year, engineer comes out turns it off, turns it on he watches it blow hot air for 20 seconds, says it's working then leaves. It fails 5 minutes later, I call reception again they send someone else who does the same. Then complain to reception and they say they knew about it and it needs a part which is being fixed in the morning. It doesnt get fixed and they move us to a new room if they can. This happened last year and we had to move room because there was actual damp caused by the failed aircon in the first one. They struggle to find a room then with working air con. This time weve been given a fan and maybe that's it? This is a known systemic problem with poor quality, mostly faulty air conditioning, I know because I've looked up the error codes. The hotel need to lose a star because it cant say it has air conditioning if it never works. They need to invest in new air conditioning. Either way we would have kept returning here because we love the rest of the hotel and facilities but I dont think we can come back since they will not address this and its the same problem year after year. I advise going to reception and making official complaints and do the same with their rep to get compensation and force them to take the failed rooms off their list. Jet2 wont allow anyone to be booked into that room if the hotel dont fix it, so everyone complain and the hotel lose money. When they decide they have lost enough, they will have to fix it properly or go out of business when no company will sell their rooms.
The rooms were lovely and everywhere was very clean. Most of the staff were very friendly and some of the bar staff would take time to have a laugh with you in the evening. If you are a fussy eater you might find it a bit challenging. All in all a very enjoyable family holiday. We would go again.
