Smy Tahona

Location is good very local to lots of shops and restaurants. Food is amazing lots of options, the pool is freezing but quite big, have to fight for a sunbed. The entertainment woman is lovely me and my partner miss her the most, the staff and friendly and helping, the bar staff are amazing. Definitely recommend and we will be back in June.

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at the SMY Tahona. We arrived at 1pm and was told our room was ready which was nice as check in was supposed to be 3pm. We went up to our room which was round the back of the complex near a noisy fan which I think must of been for the restaurant. We were greeted by a worker doing a repair which was fine but we went in anyway. The 1st thing we noticed was the smell, it wasn’t very pleasant but thought it might go once the windows were opened. It was quite dated and Looking round the room I noticed more & more issues. The bed had stains, the table was filthy and the floor had food on it. I also noticed on my booking that we’d booked a room with a pool view which we didn’t have so we went to reception and told them our issues and we were moved straight away. The 2nd room was much better. We had a nice big balcony. The rooms are basic but have everything you need. You can see they are updating the rooms. But the bathrooms are terrible, they need upgrading desperately. The sofa was quite badly stained and the floors were grubby. It lacks attention to detail. The tv has English channels and you can also use Netflix (if you have your own account) there is a kettle and 2 mugs and a mini fridge. The beds are big and we slept really well. The is no air con but we did know this when we booked but there is a ceiling fan in bedroom which worked well. The grounds of the hotel are kept clean, same with the bar area and pool area. The pool itself could do with a clean. The entertainment lady is great she really does try to ensure guests are having a good time. We were half board and we wasn’t blown away with the food. However we liked that there was a different cuisine every evening. Asian night was the best, there was also Spanish & French. Indian night was not great at all. On that night The food was very bland and flavourless. The breakfast is good but repetitive. Same pastries, fruit and yoghurts every day. It could do with being changed. Coffee and tea is included with breakfast. The desserts were terrible. I’ve never seen such a poor choice for a hotel buffet. The restaurant area was kept very clean. The staff at the hotel are pleasant Check out time is midday which is brilliant. No one likes the rush of getting out the room super early. There is a luggage room to store cases after check out. The location is brilliant. Lots of shops, bars and restaurants nearby. The beach is about a 10 min walk but we walked further down to la Guirra as that beach is stunning.The hotel is Very close to the airport as well. Literally 15 minutes away. Would we go back? Probably but only if we got a really good deal and I’d probably do bed & breakfast. It is basic but it is a centrally located base and we did have a nice time.

Visited Tahona with family and a 3 star hotel is exactly what it is. It’s a small hotel which is nice however The rooms need a big upgrade, the shower was disgusting and needs a good clean, the beds weren’t comfortable although they were big. We had our room cleaned 2 days out of the 7 we stayed and the bed sheets were not changed I think if the rooms had a good upgrade and a good clean it could be better.

The food was definitely the best part it was a themed night every night and the breakfast was good.

We went on half board and was dissapointed when we found out we could only have water with our dinner, also when paying for drinks at the pool bar and getting different service / prices for products. A few time we ordered cocktails and some were made straight from the machine (all inclusive) and not what we were paying for.

The hotel is in a great location with lots to do around it and lots of food places.

The drop off zone for coaches is different to the hotel which you don’t get told until your holiday is about to start this is about 200m away and it’s because the coach is not allowed to stop right outside the hotel.
